"Usually people think that the singer and lead guitarist are the main forces when it comes to songwriting and just the art form in general. For Gnr Izzy was probably the most significant creative force; without his original vision and guidance in songwriting there would've never been any Guns N' Roses." Duff McKagan

Exacxtly, and i dont blame him. People dont get how it works with publishing .Izzy wrote a great deal of the bands music and a few lyrics. Without him the band would have never happened . Just because he is less of a public figurre than Axl , Duff and Bozo... i mean Slash , he is overlooked by many. At the end of the day if anyone should get more money it should be Axl since he owns the brand that is Guns N' Roses and is the only consistent member of the band. That said i am not a die hard fan , in fact Chinese Democracy is my favorite guns album. Great songs, amazing production and myriad guitar styles since it has Bucketead (smokes Slash any day)the man can play any style of music and plays with taste even though he could shred all of the time if he wanted to , Robin Finck who is no virtuoso but he wrote music to "Better" which is one of my favorite songs on the record, and he is a better lead player than i thought and Bumblefoot (great player but not my cup of tea) all of these cats contributing rhythm guitars and solos. Also has Richard Fortus and Paul Tobias playing some guitars .Axl does some great vocal melodies and the lyrics seem inspired. I also dig the keyboards of Izzy and Chris Pitman . Die hard fans will hate me for this but as i said i am not really a HUGE fan of their body of work/

Besides the fact that axl waited like, 15 to 20 years too long for a reunion!! I was a huge fan back in the day, but really, what could they have been if not for the split at the pinnacle of their careers? They were headed towards some weird place anyways, axls visions for the band were getting weird as it was, implimenting the piano/keyboards, and backup singers on illusions albums, thats NOT the sound that they were known for!!!

Great job of compiling all the info from various sources. If you haven't already, you should do a video on Steven Adler's comments about the new tour. Great video. Izzy is definitely the "magic factor" of the original five. I am glad they are partially back together and have seen them twice, but there is something missing, and I believe it is the Magic Factor. This will show even more if any new songs come out and Izzy isn't included in the writing process.

Izzy does only what he wants, only when he wants, and there's absolutely no way to predict either of those things. He saw what was coming with GNR before anyone else, and he walked away at the height of their fame and success. You would need help from a quantum physicist to weigh the balls it takes to do that. He marches to his own drummer, which is what makes him so cool. It may never happen; he may show up at a gig and play three songs and disappear again; or he might rejoin and help them conquer the world again. They can certainly tour without him, but new music without Izzy will be difficult.

Fortus has been playing with them for almost 20 years and there's no way Adler will power through a 3 hour + show the way Ferrer does. A guest appearance every now and then seems appropriate for him. I was seeing the BS GNR band (no disrespect to Bumblefoot, also awesome) in Vegas and few years back and Izzy came strolling right out and played like 5 songs with them. It was really cool, like he never left. Maybe if they make new music he'll be part of that.

I was surprised he wasn’t part of it mostly because he was someone who never really had a falling out with Axl. But he’s also shown that if the vibe isn’t for him that he doesn’t do it. After all he willingly left the band at their peak when money was rolling in. And when he came back and the vibe was off he left again. But still felt surprising that he didn’t jump in on it.

I'm an original fan and when I bought Appetite nobody knew around me who this band was I dug. Look Izzy is a great song writer and I dig Adler but the majority of folks didn't widespread get to see GNR play until the Illusion tours and let's face it by then it was Matt on drums and Gilby on rhythm guitar. Nobody was ,well make that most folks were guns crazy and they were huge and there was no Izzy and Steven. To me Richard Fortus is fantastic chemistry with Slash and a lights out fantastic guitarist! He's been in gnr 10 years to what Izzy's 5???..Frank is solid and also been drumming for 10 years for Guns so in my humble opinion as long as it's Axl,Duff,Slash, and Dizzy Reed the original keyboards the draw obviously by the huge success of the Not In This Lifetime tour has always been these guys!! The band sounds amazing and a small percentage actually miss Izzy and Adler, the vast majority is happy and feel this tour is a legit reunion. Let's face it, a sellout stadium is a sold out stadium. You aren't going to out sell a sell out by adding them.

If it's about the money or about the original members then you have to ask yourself a couple of questions. When Izzy played with GnR in lineups without Slash and Duff was it about the $? When originally asked to be in Velvet Revolver and then backed out for a slew of different reasons, was it about the $? I don't think so. Izzy does his own thing and has plenty of money to do what he wants. I'm pretty sure he has an open invitation to join the band. Speculation is just grasping for reasons for him to decide not to participate at this or at any time. I don't care about their personal finances or agreements nor should anyone else. Maybe all of these guys do communicate and have things in the works or maybe not? Why should they have to tell anyone their personal business. Your business isn't theirs and their business isn't yours. If you don't like them or think they should all stay suspended in their 20's or 30's, then your foolish. I once had black hair, I was in good shape and decent money. Now at 55 my hair has a lot of grey, I'm 20 lbs heavier then I should be and after putting 3 kids through college I live a lot more financially cautious. WHO CARES? I went to see GnR in 88/91-Met Life 2016-MSG last night and I thought they were great. I watch their videos and every other bands who play their old stuff and enjoy it. Billy Joel seems to do very well and hasn't written anything in 17 years. The Stones do the same thing and anything since Steel Wheels sounds the same anyway but people go to hear their oldest and best songs. Even Metallica who still write new stuff play their old stuff. Does anyone ever look in a mirror and believe they look exactly the same as they did 30, 20 or 10 years ago? Move on or be gone for Christ sake.

If Adler can physically play/record his parts he should be in the touring lineup. My guess is that he’s not %100 therefore Axl does not trust him enough to have him in the band full time even though Adler would jump at the chance. Izzy’s situation is basically the opposite.

I'd take Alan Niven's opinion as the most relevant and as always, surely accurate one. During the last month, two topics , or rumors, have been dominant about GNR : " no more touring" story and a bunch of articles from all over the places which saw "Not in this lifetime" gigs. They all basicly were about " The Creative Crisis of Guns N' Roses and Axl Rose"; like this one www.westword.com/music/guns-n-roses-cant-survive-if-axl-rose-doest-live-and-let-die-9333771Maybe i just see things the way i would really like them to be, but ....We all know that Izzy doesn't appreciate much touring the world and we all know what's behind the 16 months of pending the "FP Money" announced new Izzy's album.I firmly believe in scenery where Izzy's back to his official work place and two things coming out of that. A new album with, as always 70% of songs written or co-written by Izzy. One song, just of ""FP Money" level of quallity would do the "topping the charts" work and....."No touring" doesn''t necessary means no live acts at all.....I'm pretty sure that,no metter how strong we all desire a good , new album, Axl, Slash, Izzy, Duff and Steven desire it even more! With world tour done, and Slash and Axl's pension fonds are solved issues, that space for negotiations looks totally different from January 2016. perspective. I'd put a 1000$ bet it will end ( or just begin) this way.The whole world wants THAT album and without it happening all this reunion tour will get a negative conotation.Few things they have to compromise now and Slash and Duff can start playing material Izzy recorded during past 18 months. Lets hope that Axl will be fine with one year time to record all the vocals and keyboards which he always has to hear in Izzy's songs.Izzy, him self, already said once ( 2002.) that it would take two weeks for him, Slash and Duff to writte down new album ;)

Axl is cerebral and methodical. He planned this 10 years ago. He knew he could put a successful sudo gnr together, go on tour and make a killing, because the public was so hungry for gnr to be out there. BUT! Axl also knows the true payday , and I mean the real payday is yet to come. and it's coming for sure without a doubt, and that payday will be the original 5 tour and album. And that he has known this all along.

Again in my opinion, No Lonesome Dave, No Rod "The Bottle" Price, NO FOGHAT! No Phil Lynott, NO LIZZY, No Michael Shenker NO UFO, and forget about Lynyrd Skynyrd......? With Zeppelin, Jason Bonham would be the only suitable person to fill BONZO's Throne! And the others like Blink 182? But that's my point of view! NO Stradlin, No Adler.....call it Gum's and Posies, or....Popguns and posers? There are so many of the same example!!!!??? I think Motley did the right thing, looking back?! It's different when you get to (or near) 50...and beyond. You look at life differently, and the rest of your life too. And yes, it's ABS-UH-FUCKIN-LOOT-LY about the fucking money at that stage of your life, but it's also about control/respect too. Even if Steven had been there too, there's no real reason that would hav persuaded Izzy to agree to it. Also, I agree with those that say it's about respect too....and that's shown by the financial arrangement that is agreed upon (or offered). A lame offer shows NO RESPECT, plain and simple. But the offer can't be an agreement to come into a reunion and (agree to be) told what to do and just accept it-for ANY amount of money. He wrote so much of the most important material. Why would he come back and agree to let the others dictate things to him??? He wouldn't, and he's MOTHERFUCKING right to stand his ground and say 'Fuck No'.

I luv Izzy and he always was my favourite member of Guns and i wish he was part of the reunion tour but in all fairness he is overstepping his boundaries for wanting an equal share of the money. From what i remember when Izzy quit in 91 he sold his share of the band to Axl Slash and Duff. I think i read that he was paid until 95 from the band. He still retains his album royalties but i think thats it. The live era album only involved Axl Slash and Duff with production (Izzy had no involvement) So to be fair he shouldn't get an equal share of the tour. Axl was probably offering a cameo apperance at each show to do a few songs but it wouldn't be right unless Izzy played the whole gig. If the rumors of $3 million a show for the band with $1.5 going to Axl and $750k to each Slash and Duff.......Izzy and Steven should have been offered maybe $250 - $350k each

Joe Lubo yea but with all the B S that was said throughout the years it results that Perla was a main factor in G N R breaking up. How does that sit with how Slash told the story for so long and wrote a book about it blaming AXL for the break up....now it results that his wife wasn't very liked and it may have influenced Slash to quit.... now she's crushing him financially in a divorce and these guys are helping him with their own money..... But Izzy and Sorum won't play because their fi ancial offer is too small............if we crunch numbers and look for a common denominator in selfishnes Slash comes up in there. I think it was Slash that broke up the band. These guys are throwing extra %$ percentages at him, who supposedly weren't his mates ...
