Guns N' Roses:True Story Behind Charles Manson & GNR Look At Your Game Girl (Spaghetti Incident)

Музыка

With the death of Charles Manson I thought it would be a good time to look at the true story behind Charles Manson and Guns N' Roses. They covered one of his songs on the Spaghetti Incident their 1993 Punk Covers Album!

When you wear a Charles Manson t-shirt and do a song by him, you associate yourself with that man whether you are for him or against him. That's what people don't like.

I think the media were always looking for any excuse to get Guns N' Roses in a bad light back then - essentially related to the "One In a Million" thing. To play that song I thought was a great idea. They knew it would have stirred some shit, that was part of their genius but also they didnt credit him or want any money going to Manson. Say what you like about the Spaghetti Incident but I think its a very interesting album that opens doors to some very cool influential music. "A great song can be found anywhere, do yourself a favour and go find the originals" as they wrote on the inner sleeve.

I have read in an autobiographical book by Marilyn Manson, that he met Axl Rose after a concert (even Marilyn Manson's band was practically unknown), he spoke to Axl Rose about a Charles Manson song that MM himself was going to make a cover, that's where he got the idea to also cover another song by Charles Manson

People never seems to get Axl Rose's ironical and sarcastic point of views - the same with One In A Million. As a fan for over 30 years, I am getting used to hear al kinds of misinterpretations on Axl's views, songs and comments, when it all comes down to the truth - and nothing but the shocking truth. ;)

It is a beautiful song. I first heard it in 1993, I was in the 10th grade & my buddy who sat behind me in math class told me that gnr covered a charles manson song, and it was on the spaghetti incident album. I didn't believe him at first. He had shown me that it was a hidden track, not listed on the album. Before then, I didn't know that manson had even recorded any music. I'm glad I found out. Say what you want, I enjoy Charlie's music. Too bad things didn't turn out differently.

Manson definitely wrote the song. Remember that Dennis Wilson stole a Manson song but changed the name and lyrics. Cease to Exist was changed to Never Learn Not To Love by the Beach Boys. It's still on the Beach Boys album to this day.

This was My favorite song on the Spaghetti Incident, this & Black Leather. Guns have also enriched the lives of one of the Manson Survivors, thanks to the significant royalties They'll go on receiving instead of Manson. I found this the most intriguing song on the album because although I knew Manson was a songwriter I hadn't heard any of His material before. It's a good song. I really like it. All these People screaming for censorship are pretty selfish because if this song was removed from the album, the Victim from that night would no longer receive those royalties & more to the point there would no longer be royalties paid to the non-profit Environmental Organisation. Manson may have committed atrocities but Manson isn't profiting from this song & neither are Guns. People should just drop the subject. I've since heard multiple covers of that song, older than the Guns one & have heard the original. People just complained because it was Axl & Guns. (Manson's songwriting is inadvertently linked by the way to Him sending His flunkies to the LaBianca House which He wrongly thought still belonged to Dennis Wilson of the beach boys who promised Manson He'd link him with his record company & forgot the promise & which led to the horrific murders there, in particular the awful murder of a pregnant Woman. )

  • @jessiehermit9503

    @jessiehermit9503

No, Sharon Tate's house was the one connected to the Beach Boys. The LaBiancas were just on the neighborhood. Actually, Charles Manson was in that neighborhood, and Sharon Tate saw him, in April, I believe.

  • @jessiehermit9503

The pregnant woman was Sharon Tate. The LaBiancas were killed the night _after_ Sharon Tate. I have a huge fascination with aberrant psychology, especially serial killers and cults. I watched _many_ documentaries on this, and Charles Manson had always fascinated me. Rosemary LaBianca and her husband heard about the Tate murders the night after it happened. Her husband, (was his name Leno?), was a wealthy grocery store owner. That night, the Manson family took them, too. I forget what was scrawled on their refrigerator. Was it "hellter skelter," (sic)? I believe it was. Sharon Tate was eight months pregnant, and was it Susan that killed her? I forget, but I know she begged for her baby's life, poor girl.

31 years ago my little 16 yr old sister was brutally raped and strangled her lifeless body dumped on side of a road in a field there’s NO WAY IN FUCKING HELL I would buy that BECAUSE ITS MANSONS SONG! I miss my sister daily. So I’m sure the Tate Murders families feel the same way.... Murder is not funny thus SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN allowed in the 1st place to be placed on an album

After reading the book Restless Souls by Sharon Tate's family. I was so digusted with GNR and Geffen records that I threw away all my GNR CD's . I want nothing to do with them. What nobody seems to understand is that Sharon Tate is the victim here. By promoting the song your promoting him. Sharon was a beautiful person . The world will never know what was lost or who was lost when she was murdered. It doesn't matter about the royalties. Patti Tate ripped a check from Geffen records. Telling them to keep their blood money.

You DO understand that Sharon Tate's own mother has said in interviews that Manson was not at the house when the murders happened and that that is the reason why she never attended HIS parole hearings? She did go to all of the others though.

I do know Sharon's sister led a boycott of Geffen records untill they stopped putting the song on the album.

Also if Terry Melcher didn't rip him off... have you read Tom O' Niels book Chaos yet? There is a lot of info he uncovered that the prosecution left out of the trial such as someone cutting cable TV wires at Seebring's house the night before thinking they were phone wires. Also Terry Melcher lied on the stand about when he last saw Manson. He was actually at the Spaun Ranch 3 weeks AFTER the murders on his knees begging Charlie for forgiveness.

@@Briansmusic- You know what? I have read Caos, but the bottom line is your justifying the actions of a mass murderer. Manson may be responsible for up to 35 murders. There is nothing in the world that justifies the taking of the innocent life. I am sure the man downstairs rolled out the red carpet for him.

Excuse me but the Media and the Families milk the whole thing every 3 months on public access television, not to mention various books and movies that come out almost every other year. You sing a decent song and they malign you? Ridiculous. The song doesn't have anything in it about what took place.

@@chinesesteel2713 It seems to depend on whether a movie or documentary casts Manson as the criminal he was, or if it candy coats and/or glorifies him. Most documentaries go without a word from the families of the victims because they are accurate in their betrayal of Manson as the master manipulator of the drug crazed followers who committed the murders. I am not fond of the way our society blames the victims, regarding them as somehow suspect when they had to cope not only with the loss of the people they loved, but the fact that they dies brutal and tortuous deaths.

  • @chinesesteel2713

@@RowanWarren78 None of the movies are accurate. They never show how Manson was having an affair with Doris Day, how he knew Jim Morrison and that his songs were stolen by several bands. And those songs or parts of the songs were all used by the wrecking crew to help make classic hits. How even the Beatles were playing songs that McCartney heard at Doris Day's House. How Tex Watson was beat in the same house 2 weeks earlier for a bad drug deal that Sebring was involved in. They do not depict the truth at all. They don't show how Charles Manson invented ATWA and the girls wanted to push him into the limelight to get the word out about his environmentalist plans. So after Susan Atkins and Bobby Bouseliel killed Hinman the plan was already set up to go on a spree to get them all in the Prison system. Which was the Bottomless Pitt. Vincent turned it into Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory but they played the system and made Charles Manson the biggest star known to the world. Bigger than the Beatles. They were creating a model for the future when Climate Change hits. Total population reduction. Sharon Tate's father was over the Nuclear Operations of Vietnam and the Vice President had threatened to nuke Vietnam. It was a political hit, that was interwoven with bad drug deals. We already know that Sharon Tate's husband wasn't all sunshine and rainbows. So. No. They were not accurately depicting the insanity of the time. They make it appear Manson has powers and abilities or that this was satanism or some spooky horror story. None of it is accurate at all. The intentions, the actual murders which Manson said himself that Tex did all the killing. The girls didn't kill anyone. There were deaths like that before the Manson Murders. Tex was involved in at least one other murder before he met the Family Jams. It wasn't called the Manson Family it was a commune of musicians.
