In the photo @ 2:13 Sante is on the left. The gentleman on the right of Axl is another of his good friends - NYC nightclub owner Nur Khan. I stood next to him in the pit at one of the shows at MSG in October, 2017.

Have you done a video on the Hollywood rose album “roots of Guns N’ Roses”? Axls feelings about it(I’m sure he wasn’t happy with its release ) and the story of how it came about

I honestly believe that he mostly disappeared due to insecurities regarding him getting multiple hair transplant procedures. Axl was definitely losing his hair in the early-mid 90's...and then when he reemerges, he had a new hair line and much thicker hair. Then he did whole cornrow thing... He obviously had work done on his hair..which equates to just moving hair around on your hair . I wouldn't be surprised if this was the reason he was hiding. Definitely insecure dude.

I don't think he was losing his hair. Redheads naturally begin to thin more as they age. I do think he had some cosmetic work done to his face that he perhaps was self conscious about (maybe due to journalists making fun of him for his appearance after the disastrous 02 vmas). I think his disappearance during the 90s had more to do with a combination of personal issues, legal issues, band issues, and maybe some creative dry spells. Without anyone there to force him out of his comfort zone he became complacent. Then he began to need the money... Or maybe overcame his personal / legal issues to a certain extent.

@UndergroundGrower UK it's a generalization but it's true for many red heads and it's true for Axl. You can see it in his photos. Go look up his mug shot from the late 90s. He was even losing his eyebrows when he made the appearance at the basketball game around 2001. Many red heads have fine hair and pale skin, and as they age it changes remarkably. Nicole Kidman is a great example, too.

There’s different shades of redheads. Axl never had carrot hair except for his facial hair colour. During his early years growing Axl’s hair was auburn (dark ginger) then as he got older his became more of sandy colour (strawberry blonde). I believe Axl was going through some kind of early stages of hair loss (not severe as some of the fan make it out to be). He has cut his hair and wore bandana during the wilderness years, from 2002-2008 he braids incorporate to his hair.

He has way thinner hair in 1993 compared to Rock in rio 1991. And even thinner in January 1994 with that rock n roll hall of fame event. He clearly did some things to himself in the wilderness years and hid for the public.

@declan jarvis Yeah theres a lot of theories around it. Hes on bizzare guy goes from one of the biggest stars in the world to a complete recluse and when he did reemerge he looked unrecognisable and you can see today he looks completely different

According to reporters & other artists who've toured & worked with him, Axl's always had a fixation with his image. He's one of those guys who would obsess over his receding hairline & crow's feet before having his picture taken or taking the stage. With MTV journalists, he'd always insist on make up before their filmed interviews. It's just who he's always been. After all, he's a product of the 80s Sunset Strip rock scene. Appearance was 90% of the job back in those days. As for why he started getting plastic surgery in the late 90s-early 2000s? You have to keep in mind he lives in the most superficial, image obsessed town on planet Earth: Los Angeles. And in the 90s, LA was a boom town for plastic surgery. A lot of actors & actresses started prolonging & enhancing their careers through plastic surgery; like Pamela Anderson, Jennifer Aniston, and John Travolta, among others. In LA, celebrities' agents and managers urge their clients to get plastic surgery to maintain their profile. Axl was approaching the age stars begin considering it; he had the money and the free time; it's only natural someone like him would do it. Traditionally, one of the factors behind it has been if celebrities are married or single. The ones who are still single start feeling the crunch of time also. Without a spouse and kids to make plastic surgery seem as irrelevant as it really is, people naturally succumb to the promises of an extended youth in a town where billboards cover the roads & reality shows cloud the airwaves with the benefits of plastic surgery.

There was a rumour that he had cancer and that's why he was wearing a wig but his hairline today is the same hairline as the 80s so in 2001 he was wearing a wig and he lost his eyebrows so maybe he had mild cancer
