I recently got my friend to come with me to the gun range after he refused to for several years. He was raised to believe that guns are super dangerous(and they can be) and no fun. But I took him out and let him shoot my .22 lever action and instructed him on proper firing techniques. He then shot my 9mm and told me that it was nothing like the video games. He didn't hit anything that day but was laughing the whole time. Two weeks later he called me and explained how he bought an AR-15, an aim-point, 22/45, several thousands of rounds of ammo and was practicing at a 300 yard range almost daily. I have officially converted a non-believer.

The problem with the whole zombie thing is that everyone hops on it and tries to sell their gear which are nothing more than shiny toys. Went to a gun show recently, several booths were selling 'zombie' gear. It ranged from mediocre AR-15s with neon green handles to horrendously deformed machetes that look like something out of a crappy movie. Seriously, look anywhere, you'll find all these people with zombie blade collections with these ugly and inefficient tomahawks and machetes that couldn't cleanly cut a leaf off a tree.

Thanks for this Gun Gripe. I never really understood the whole zombie thing, and thought it was a silly immature waste of time and money, while I was arming myself with regular non-zombie guns and ammo. At that point I was a little disappointed when you guys were making zombie gun videos, but now I understand that it is just a game to get people into arming themselves. Thanks, guys.

Watching these videos inspired me to get my own gun, and I'm happy I did

I absolutely love all the videos you guys are posting on here, especially the gun gripes stuff and your Mosin and Mauser how to videos. Your gun gripes episode about the ar15 vs. the ak47 actually swayed me to go with the ak47 in a recent purchase. I remember as a kid in West Virginia I actually sat around with my dad and older guys and talked about hunting, guns, bows, fishing, and whatever.....these videos take me right back to that. Thanks for all the good videos and good conversation.

My folks taught me prepping. When they grew up it was the thing to do (in California for earthquakes etc) It was normal and not frowned upon bc everyone did it. Sheeple today are too soft and rely way too much on their government to keep them in their safe bubble and protect them. What about natural disasters?? The same people will be asking us for help if the shtf but want to think we are crazy now just bc we want to be prepared. Oh well

referring to a zombie appocolypse is basically anything that can shutdown the infistructure and make it so it is a lot harder to get the basic needs for survival. My wife thinks what I've done is silly but making my household able survive with or without the grid and able to produce food is an amazingly freeing feeling

I've always thought of 'zombie apocalypse' as a code for the mindset and preparedness neccessary to deal with high stress survival/ self defense situations.

In my opinion all ammo should be sold sealed in a can like that

Everybody, at least in their right mind, knows zombies aren’t real. *In the firearms community, zombies is a metaphor for criminals - heartless blood-thirsty killers, whether one or a dozen*. Many find a metaphor more comfortable than the reality of shooting a real person (something few want, but must prepare for) and this particular metaphor can be easily applied to any scenario, from defense against home invasion to collapse of social order.

i must say ffor every one new or old, that watch your vids can come a way with a very good grasp on safe gun handling. you all do a very good job on clearing every fire arm you touch, step #1 great job all of you!!!!

Where did it start then? Atlanta, Georgia is a big air traffic hub. That makes it a really good candidate as the starting place for exotic diseases in the U.S.

Been a long time fan of Eric's, but I am an administrator for the second largest zombie survival community on the internet, the ZSDW. ZS is the only larger community - but that's not a free group. Most of our long-term members are survivalists that use zombies as a device to introduce younger visitors to teach about survival. Glad y'all at Moss are also involved!

My husband is in the Navy and obviously gone a lot, and I felt it was so important for me to be able to take care of my household while my husband was gone. I have four kiddos and about two weeks ago someone tried to break in, and in this day and age I feel being prepared is just a necessity. Great video!

I just want to say I love all these different types of videos you guys put out. We may differ in some of our political views but we share a whole lot of common ground as far as guns and the rights that surround them go. Your channel is very comprehensive and informative and out of all the gun channels I'm subscribed to, yours has to be my favorite. If I lived around your area I would be a regular at your shop.

I think all of this zombie shit makes the gun "community" look childish, unprofessional, and borderline psychotic. I understand the points you made in this video, but I don't think the juice is worth the squeeze. I think this will hurt us in the long run...

I agree. I have watched some prepper videos on YT where unprepared, desperate people were referred to as the SHTF Zombies. This dehumanizes people into a shoot first mentality. If faced with a legitimate threat by all means do what you have to do to protect yourself. If when the SHTF your justification for arbitrarily shooting unfamiliar people is to refer them as zombies then your moral compass needs to be recalibrated IMHO.

Love the gun gripe vids guys!

This video is old, but the zombie thing is still very prevalent. People who ask me about firearms always say, “wow, you’re really prepared for the zombie apocalypse! LOL!” when I tell them about what I have. It irks me to this day.

I love the look Eric has every time the phone rings!!!! haha

Also not to mention that The Walking Dead show was really popular at the time and had sparked interest into the zombie genre for a lot of people

I like the Zombie stuff because if you ever have to use the gun against someone, it was initially for "zombies" and not for self defense (against real people). And I like the lime green colors and how it says "zombie" on the blade/gun/ammo.

It gets survivalism and self reliance into the heads of casual fans of zombies and light hearted consumers. It's silly but only a good thing. I dig it.

you can hate it or joke about it or make fun of it all you want BUT they hit it on the head. there are a lot of people who understand something is brewing and lots of bad things could happen and a whole new younger genre is become aware of this. i say it is a good thing because i have seen first hand how a newb zombie guy morphs into a serious prepper who trains and learns all he can. its a gateway that doesnt have milittia, terrorists, psycho, written all over it.

I would shop here over anyone if you were local to me. You seem so knowledgeable and open to new things.

I really believe the popularity of shows like the Walking Dead and books/movies like World War Z have contributed most to the recent mainstreaming of zombie lore. Ive been a zombie fan since I was a kid, and it was that fandom which made me want to be prepare for the post-apocalyptic world in which these zombie films take place. We havent experience a global cleansing in the last few hundred years and a viral outbreak is essentially a Zombie outbreak, expect the dead wont eat you. Be Prepared!

The zombie apocolipse is just another name for trouble. Trouble come in all kinds of ways. The guys at Moss Guns are correct in saying the it is a way for getting folks prepared for anything that comes their way. Good job guys!

Oh yes the PTR is. Matched up with semi-decent ammo you can get any where from 1-2 MOA. The nice thing about the G.I. version is the Tolerance to all sorts of ammo. There are a few little things that i dislike is the Trigger creep, and sometimes you can find a steal of a deal on G3 mags for like $2 a mag, then you get them and they look like they barley survived a tour in Afghanistan in the 80's.

The threat of a zombie apocalypse is actually more real than most people would expect.

It's just to make sure the gun is empty. It's a good habit to get into. I pump my shotgun multiple times before I reload or put it away, it's just a good habit. That and the sound of cocking a gun is just badass.

"It gets you thinkin'": The Zombie Survival Guide was the primer for me getting interested in prepping, buying guns, etc. I think another part of it is the fact that some people can't justify shooting humanoid targets unless you give them a name like "zombie" to take away some of the guilt.

I have always been gamer and have always loved guns and am very educated in firearms. not as much as you guys are but i know way around a gun. i would love to get more experience in though.

The point of preparing is to make sure that you and your loved ones are among those "humans" who "have survived everything". Humankind can't be stopped because we are one of the few animals that is mentally equipped to prepare for future eventualities and use tools and tactics to do so.
