I saw him in SF a while ago. He played a phenomenal set, his Mom at the side of the stage the whole show. Bringing him towels and water during the set. After the show, I messaged him on IG and said how it was such a great show and I’m thankful he’s playing some blues in today’s day. He messaged me back.. asked if I was still around. He invited me back stage to meet him and the band, and his Mom. All amazingly kind people just thankful I was there. I’ll never forget that. I love seeing this man succeed. Also Rest In Peace to his Mom..

@@harmondraws I know far more metal players that listen to the blues than jazz players, even though jazz and blues are related. I myself played in a local thrash band in the 80's but I still listened to just as much Lightnin' Hopkins, Freddy King, and Buddy guy as I did Exodus, Metallica, and Venom. Matter of fact I consider Ry Cooder's theme for the movie "Southern Comfort" to be one of the coolest pieces of music in history. Plenty of metalheads around MY area had pretty decent collections of blues albums. You also find elitist attitudes in every genre of music too, especially jazz and bluegrass (which is big here in the Appalachians).

Kingfish’s guitar is a custom made LP style guitar made by a luthier in New York. It brings out the most amazing tones in concert. He also plays a Fender Stratocaster in concert plus an acoustic set of real Mississippi Delta Blues routed in his hometown of Clarksdale, Mississippi. Heard him in Charlottesville, VA in August 2019 and later in the fall in D.C. before the pandemic. I never heard Stevie Ray Vaughan or Hendrix in person but he is flat out the best guitarist I have ever heard. His next new album is being released in July 2021. Fingers crossed that he can go back on the road when it is safe.

Eric Gales was on the Arsenio Hall show when he was a teenager. Sat in with the band then played two songs with the Eric Gales Band. The bass player is his brother. He’s been around about 30 yrs at least. He also had a brother who was a great guitarist who went by Little Jimmy King. Albert King took him under his wing. Died early in his 20’s. All 3 brothers play left handed. But this song should’ve been looked at but the Michael Burke’s version. He wrote it. He made it famous. All the others are copying it. Yes kingfish is great but if there wasn’t Michael Burkes, Kingfish wouldn’t be playing it. I guess he’s carrying the torch. But give credit where credit is due. If you’re going to do young players, you skipped over Jonny Lang who started at 13? or younger. Kenny Wayne Shepherd the same. Yrs ago they were so popular. Jonny injured his voice. He has the best blues voice since he was a kid. Kingfish is great but not the first young prodigy by any means. It seems people just forget these other guys.

He told me may stories about how they played this song differently live every night. Starting how the band comes in loud with dynamics. Sadly Michael passed and we both miss him. I just wish I knew him and gotten a chance to see him live but the blues stays alive in next generations like Kingfish.

Michael, I'm not a guitar player... just a very casual music listener (Kingfish pops up on a few of my Spotify playlists). I wanted to learn a bit more about him and stumbled onto this video. I homeschool my kids. One of the important skills I've attempted to teach them over the years is the concept of active (critical) reading. You epitomize it (different art form) in this video. I love how you tear the music apart, figure out why it works and why it resonates with you. School kids should understand that when they "study," the effort should look something like this! Imagine the brilliant young adults our school systems would produce! Your "lecture" at the end about active listening is perfect. Well done. Best of luck to you.

I only discovered Kingfish a few months ago when I joined Apple Music and started to listen to all sorts of blues players. And I must say this guy blew me away. I have been studying him ever since and just stumbled on to your video and I also must say was wonderful to hear your comments about him. It reinforced my feeling that his playing was just what I needed and liked without question. I am 66 and still studying guitar and every now and then the journey just gets better and more inspirational. Thanks for opening my eyes a little bit wider in my understanding. Cheers from Brisbane Australia. Ps I have subscribed to you channel for the future as well. Thanks a bunch.

Kingfish is from my home town. I stumbled into a bar back in 2015 in Clarksdale, MS and there sits this 15 year old kid getting ready to play. 5 minutes later my face had melted off and fallen to the floor. Christone is one of the greatest natural talents I have ever seen or heard.

Kingfish is a legend and has only been playing for a few years. He will be just as big as Buddy Guy, Joe Bonomossa, and Albert King. He is unbelievable to be as good as he is at his age, and he is all emotion. The guitar is his vessel of his emotions and it is clear to see that. I’ve been following him for several years and got to see him open for Buddy Guy a few weeks ago. I can’t decide who was better.

Saw Kingfish this past Sunday in SLC. Funny note, his amp died in the middle of the first song. The band did a damn good job vamping for about five minutes while the crew got the issue figured out and sorted. Kingfish dropped right back in the lead, the band right there with him, and they DESTROYED for the rest of the show. Kingfish walked out into the crowd during a number and just wailed for about 10 minutes while everyone gathered around and took pics or video. He didn't skip a beat. I cannot recommend seeing this band live enough, they are filthy good.

The look on the audience face says it all... drops them dead. Love that PRS. I entered and really want it, and like I said the other day, if I don’t win it, gonna buy one. Quick question though... what are you gonna replace it with? The Hollowbody 2 has a very distinct sound, what are you gonna do about that hole in the arsenal? Really love the sound of it, very smooth but forward. Just curious.

Bonamassa has said that he never liked the classic blues musicians, he preferred the players from the 60s on (Clapton, etc.,). I think that explains why he's missing that important feel. It's like the difference between Led Zeppelin and later artists who listened to Zep, but not the stuff Zep listened to.

Mr. Palmisano, Thank you for doing what you do and how you do it! Your approach is refreshing, and when explaining the hows & whys of music theroy you make it applicable. You Sir, are straight out the fridge, Cool. Please consider doing a video on Sean Costello. He was a "blues torch carrier", and an unsung underrated TONE! player. For the younger players dipping their toes in the vast waters of blues - Sean Costello was a Swiss Army Knife: versatile, classic, and can Cut. Lastly, his main influence Otis Rush, would also make for an interesting Reaction video...melodic, nasty, and full of trickery. Otis played a guitar upside-down & "backwords", (lefty) and made it sound too easy. Thank you, again...and keep on doing these videos! Sean Costello kzread.info/dash/bejne/kWihr7uqosLFe5M.html
