I just think it's so refreshing to see a guitarist and teacher so enthused about someone else's playing, most of the musicians I jam with are so jaded, especially fellow guitarists . I guess they have heard so much music and been so analytical that they disregard the emoting that players do when the notes are coming from emotions. Mr. Palmisano you are the real deal.huge respect to you.

I don't think you'll get many arguments. And combined with his singing? Dude's got soul. The thing is, there are so many incredible talents amongst the Gen x Gen Zers. Matteo Mancuso is a singular talent, Joe Bonamassa, Philipp Sayce are just a few of my favorites. I think Marcus has the most soul of all of 'em, and that is saying a lot.

You are correct Marcus is a beast. Saw him live 2 times. WOW. He is in his 20's. Such a talent. Live you just stop and listen to his voice work with the music. It is life changing.

Met Marcus and band with his booking agent in Spokane Wa 4 years ago after a show. We stood on a sidewalk for over an hour just talking everything and music. Like hanging with your lifelong friends. GREAT KATS

I'm a singing drummer and I thoroughly enjoyed this passionate, enthusiastic, loving, respectful and knowledgable breakdown of one of the planets rarest talents - that is Marcus King. I just saw him at the Enmore theatre, Sydney Australia and I felt blessed to be there to witness such a talent, an incredible complete package - his band was just as mighty. Thank you for also pointing out the greatness in his vocal ... seriously, it's other worldly! 🙏

the fact he goes back and forth between gripping the pick in his thumb and fingerpicking, to strumming with it is insane to me

His “Goodbye Carolina” at the Opry IIRC, is phenomenal!

I am in love with that man truly cannot stop listening to his voice his tone in that guitar is just an extension of his heart🥰

Nobody else is doing this and it’s great. Thank you.

Markus is an old black man who has been playing his old guitar on his front porch in Louisiana for like 40 years… he’s amazing!!

Marcus King has that authenticity and soul that you just can’t fake.

Marcus is awesome and he has so much going on, but the thing that caught my eye the most? Watch him switch from pick to finger style and back. SO SMOOTH!

I've been lucky enough to see Marcus King open for Derek Trucks and TTB twice now, and both times were incredible! This is probably my favorite song by him, just stunning and gorgeous!

Kid used to open up for us when he was like 15, could absolutely shred then. We all knew what he was destined for, just incredible skills and even cooler person!!’

This is such an innovative teaching format. It really brings everything together... technique, theory... and it's SO entertaining. Thanks!

I watch Michael's videos but slowly find myself grasping theory from him. I am very much a low intermediate but low watching his genuine reactions to great music. Great content, I am amazed at how talented and easily he can grasp these concepts. I only hope I can this easily rip up a solo and dissect a song this easily in five-ten years.

Saw Marcus at the Ogden in Denver last Winter....still looking for my face

You're a great teacher. This is the kind of theory I need to elevate my game. I've done the hours of scales and chords, I just need to make it all slow down in my head like it does for you. I can't just look at the guy playing and pick the chords out of the progression. I've been too loose with my training.

Representing the fine town of Greenville, SC. My parents used to hang out/party with Marcus’s dad, Marvin, who is no slouch himself, “back in the day”. I’m a huge fan of bands like Panic, the Dead, Phish, etc. who are, unfortunately, only going to be around for us to enjoy for a “limited” time. So glad we have some GREAT “youngins’ like Marcus (who ive been following since he was playing on back porches) and Strings to “carry the torch”!

I saw Marcus King live right before the covid shut downs in 2019, that young man has a solid knowledge of music, great breakdown.

His ability is unfairly beautiful.

I saw Marcus for the first time 4 years ago at a small club in Bethesda MD. He is the best young guitar player I have seen in years. Couple that with the voice and the writing and it's the trifecta. Thanks so much for doing this video. I started playing again and listening to music because of him. Marcus is the future of the music I love.
