My second listen to this trio of sisters from Mexico, and WOW!! I got inundated with comments from my first video that I had chosen the "wrong song" (more), so I took some suggestions and checked out this BANGING track live from Mexico City. KILLER!

@@GreedyLittleFokker That’s a proper description. It’s just absolutely ridiculous how great they all are and then on top of that they are all 3 simply gorgeous rock goddess. Something must have been in the water during their extremely early (early because they were showing signs of being super talented so young) childhood that gave the ladies superpowers basically. Musical Talent+drive+ beauty+writing skills= Superpowers. Pau might have got an extra dose.

I am 60 years old and have been listening to hard rock and heavy metal all of my life. The first time I listened to Van Halen I - I was amazed at what Eddie (RIP) could do. I am completely amazed at what each of the Villareal sisters can do now. I have listened to all of their songs and I can tell you that I could not find a bad song, amazing songwriting, almost poetic, Musically they are quite professional too. I have cried with happiness because I can't believe what my ears are listening to, each song has a special message. I jumped of joy because these little girls were so talented 11 years ago and are so talented now, and the sky is the limit for them. I think I cried because it is human nature to see 3 beautiful humans develop together and have fun creating the kind of music that makes THEM happy and making millions of fans in the process. If you read what is written in history for The Warning - Disney wanted to hire them and take them under their wings but they wanted to change them, they refused and stayed independent creating their own music. I have high hopes that Rock will survive and it will be in part thanks to The Warning. Long Live The Villareal Family!

*a little history:* many of us (shout out to TWA aka The Warning Army!) have been following DPA/TW (Dany, Pau [like "POW!"], and Ale [like "Ah leh"] aka "The Warning"), three sisters from Monterrey Mexico, since or before their first videos as a band started to hit the streams back in 2012... in 2014 a video of them doing a cover of Metallica's *Enter Sandman* from the "Black" album went viral... they did a few other covers but were also writing their own music, as well... they decided pretty early to not become known as a cover band... so they started releasing their own music... in 2021, DPA/TW answered a call from Metallica to take a song, any song, from the "Black" album, twist it around, upside down, and backward... keep the lyrics but make it something else... DPA/TW teamed up with Alessia Cara, a Canadian Pop and R&B artist, to reimagine *Enter Sandman* as a more haunting, eerie, and dark lullaby than the metal original... they did this in 10 days, during Covid, with Alessia working from remote in Canada... today, Nov 2023, there are four renditions of *Enter Sandman* done by DPA/TW... the original true cover that went viral, the OMV of the reimagined with Alessia, DPA/TW playing it live in concert, and the latest one with an added 10-piece string section accompanying in concert... all of the concert renditions somehow come out even darker and more foreboding, bringing almost constant chills to some fans when they hear or experience it... DPA/TW started with music at a very young age... like 3 and 5 for Pau (drums) and Dany (guitar)... Ale (bass) wasn't even born yet... they started with piano and classical music... Ale also started on piano when she was old enough... as a family, they used to watch concerts on TV together... music has always been a part of their lives and they are influenced by many bands from years past... then came the game, Rock Band, which Dany and Pau played all the time with Ale watching and clapping along... Pau gravitated to the drums and Dany the guitar... Ale chose the bass even though she didn't know what it was at first... the bass was Ale's second choice for an instrument... originally she wanted to play the harp... they couldn't find anyone to teach her harp, though, so the bass it is, to everyone's delight! her original 4-string bass was a 1/2 size bass which was still quite big for her... later she went to a 3/4 size 4-string bass... today, Ale has several bass guitars but she mostly plays her Specter 5-string... since she was 15 years old, Ale is a Specter Featured Artist... her Specter bass has a 35" neck on it and the coloring on the body is named "Ale's Inferno"... not long after Ale started playing the bass, the girls realized they had all they needed to form a band and here we are, today... Pau is a powerful force behind her drums... in her younger days, she was likened to "Animal", the drummer on The Muppets... she put her entire body into every stroke... it was quite joyful watching her in action... she has refined her form in recent times but she still has a powerful swing and a much stronger sound... some like to say that "she beats her drums like they owe her money!" LOL since she has refined her form, she also doesn't break as many sticks as she used to... when she did break one, she seamlessly replaced it without losing a beat and many times no one ever even noticed... pure professionalism, there... in one of their interviews, Pau comments about having been playing the drums for 13 years... that was two years ago so she has 15 years under her belt, now... Pau also takes lead vocals on several songs while she is playing her drums... there are not very many singing drummers in the world, today... she does aerobic exercises and running while singing to keep up her stamina and breath control... she's been singing while playing the drums since her early years... you can find videos of Pau doing drum covers when she is like 8 or 9 years old... Dany is a goofball and total guitar nerd... she has numerous guitars in her arsenal... PRS, Rick Toon Spearfish, Manson, Gibson Explorer (gift from Lzzy Hale of Halestorm), and more recently, a mustard yellow Manson was given to her by Matt Bellamy of Muse, one of the band's bigger influences... DPA/TW have covered several of Muse's songs and more recently they have opened for Muse in Mexico and the UK numerous times... hearing Dany make her Mansons sing is quite the treat... especially when seeing them live... Dany is also the main lead singer for the group... she has quite a range (one vocal coach says Dany can hit D5) and can growl or put gravel in her tone when needed... she easily expresses emotions with her voice and her facial expressions drive it all home while she is singing... Ale and Dany both use Orange Amps to drive their sound... the three of them, together, create a huge wall of sound that flat out pummels you when you see them live... today the girls are 23 (Dany - Jan 30 2000), 21 (Pau - Feb 5 2002), and 18 (Ale - Dec 13 2004)... they have just released the full concert they did at the Teatro Metropolitan (Metropolitan Theater) in CDMX (Mexico City) back in Aug 2022... Mexico City (2240m, 7350ft) is higher in altitude than Denver, Colorado (1609m, 5280ft)! certainly higher than their home town of Monterrey, Mexico (540m, 1770ft)... this is mentioned because of the altitude and thin air... when doing strenuous activities, you need more air... in some of their early concerts, you can tell the altitude catches them out a bit... you can find their recent Aug 2022 concert on DPA/TW's YT Videos page as individual videos of the songs or as one video of the entire concert with opening and closing BTS (behind the scenes) added... they may also have a playlist of the individuals so they can be viewed in proper setlist order... the Met Theater in CDMX holds like 3500 and sold out both nights they played (Aug 26th and 29th)... some huge milestones took place at the 2023 MTV VMAs... 1) The Warning were invited to play two of their songs on the Extended Stage... 2) they were the only ones to play that were not nominated for anything... 3) they are the first Mexican band to perform at the MTV VMAs... those are all quite the achievements! for the VMAs performance, there were four takes shot... two 45 second ones for broadcast and two full length ones for each of their songs, *MORE* and *Evolve* which MTV has posted to their YT channel... DPA/TW have a working relationship with Pepsi in Mexico and have shot several commercials for them... this relationship plus being signed with Lava helped greatly with this milestone in their career, i'm sure... additionally, this summer (of 2023), they were the first Mexican band to play "Rock am Ring" and "Rock im Park" in Germany in 20 years... they have also been invited to play at the 2024 Wacken Open Air metal festival which is also held in Germany... currently they are completing their fourth album and finishing up their "Error" World Tour which has taken them all over the Americas, the UK, and Europe... i still can't believe it has been 10 years! it seems like only yesterday i was watching a very young Pau beating her drums into submission and then seeing videos of all three of them playing together as they started their journey... the rabbit hole is deep and quite enjoyable! come on in, there's plenty of room for more! 😹 TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA

Excellent reaction Gary! The Villarreal Velez sisters are amazing songwriters and performers from Mexico who live in Monterrey, San Pedro Garza Garcia, Nuevo Leon. Each one of their original songs is great. Their second album, "QUEEN OF THE MURDER SCENE", is a concept album. It follows a girl's journey into unrequited love; from infatuation and obsession on into stalking and murder, then madness and the fight over her soul. It is a masterpiece. It was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2019 Independent Music Awards. Their 1st full-length LP, "XXI CENTURY BLOOD", is also very good and is packed with many great songs. The video for the title track, "XXI Century Blood", was nominated for and won many awards. Their very 1st released recordings are from their 6 song EP, "ESCAPE THE MIND"; and it is amazing. Despite being courted by numerous offers from many major record labels, The Warning have stayed independent through the years; relying on crowd funding to finance their projects. They refused to give up creative control over their material ... down to even the clothes they wear on stage. After 7 months of negotiations, The Warning signed a 5 album recording contract with Lava/Republic Records/Universal Music Group in the fall of 2020. They decided to release 1/2 (6 songs) of their completed 3rd full-length album in an EP called "MAYDAY" October 8th, 2021. The entire album was released June 24th, 2022: called "ERROR". "Disciple" is my favorite track! They have recently finished recording their 4th studio album: no name or release date yet. The Warning do not come from a family of musicians, however, their parents are huge fans of classic rock. Both parents are professionals (recording engineer and dentist) and they enrolled their daughters into a private Catholic English Bilingual school Liceo de Monterrey, Mexico. They also started the girls with classical piano lessons at ages 6, 4 and 5 years old. Regular family functions included gathering around the TV with popcorn and watching LIVE concert dvds of legendary bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen and AC/DC. When their parents got them the video game Rock Band at ages 8, 6 and 3, they went nuts playing it obsessively. Shortly thereafter they got real instruments with lessons from professional teachers: and the rest is history. Amazing they are 23, 21 and 18 years old and have already written, arranged, and released #46 original songs (and recently finished recording their 4th studio album). They recently performed 2 songs at the MTV VMA's. I was fortunate enough to get to meet them after their show January 16th, 2020 at The Whisky a Go-Go in Hollywood, California. I had the opportunity to meet with them 3 more times during the 10 shows I attended on their 2022 North American MAYDAY Tour and 2023 ERROR WORLD TOUR. Aside from their music, they are just normal, sweet, intelligent, and fun-loving young ladies who are truely grateful and endearing to their fans. 🗣 Subscribed! 👊😃

The riff isn't in 4/4 which brings up the tension. You didn't notice the bass harmonics, but they are for real, adding a light touch to heavy music. The drummer is a beast on every level. TWA calls Pau's scream the "scream of destruction", but I think of it as the scream of rebirth. Right out of the scream, the song drops into half time, then goes back to full-time, raising the energy level again. Pau also kicks the song down the field by doing a big fill, leading into the next part, but not landing it on the one - leaving that to another element. In Evolve, after the scream and the full-time, to Dany singing. I appreciate a reactor the most if he/she is truthful, instead of gushing praises without having a clue about the content. You got my vote.

To briefly comment on a few things you said during your reaction: Yes, Pau is a fantastic drummer. Yes, Pau is a damn good singer who actually sings lead a fair amount. And yes, you absolutely should see them live if you have the opportunity because they are an amazing live band. I'll suggest "Narcisista - THE WARNING - En Vivo en Foro DiDi Monterrey" for the next video of theirs to check out because Pau sings lead in it, Dany has a guitar solo in it, it's one of their two songs (so far) in Spanish, and it's just a great song.

OK, there have been a lot of references in The Warning video reactions, but I think you get the prize of the first to bring up Whitman. If you keep on your The Warning journey, you will find that they pull influences from a lot of places and form them into a varied catalog that still sounds like them. A bit metal. a lot of rock. Some punk. K-pop, 90s rock, grunge all thrown in as well. Anything from this concert is exceptional. Based on your comments, you might like Disciple, Animosity, Dull Knives. But there are no bad tracks in this show. They are special live. Almost like they were born to be on stage. The recordings are good, but their live shows have an energy that reaches out and grabs you. Hella sound from only three people.

That ENTIRE concert is worth an evening on the big smart TV. Play loud. You said you got emotional during the scream. Yeah… The story of this band is enough to make most people cry their eyes out. They are one of my favorite success stories, and at 68, I've heard quite a few. Off stage, they are incredibly articulate, kind, and generous with their time in interviews. Pau is a force of nature, and the main songwriter in the band. Ale (bass) is the quiet underpinning who holds the team together. Dany is the consummate rockstar performer, OWNING that stage. But when you hear Pau sing and play at the same time, whether with a quiet ballad on piano, or an ensemble piece on drums, or as a vocalist soloist, you'll be amazed. She can rip your heart out and stomp on it. This band has talent, passion, intelligence, and messages from far beyond their years.

DUDE! You mentioned Walt Whitman and poetry? Welcome to The Warning. They are AVID readers and their lyrics are absolutely beautiful and sometimes hauntingly dark (primary lyricist is the drummer Pau). Yes, Evolve is more indicative of their music and in fact it's one of their own favorites. Now, do Disciple from the same concert and you'll get to see Dany (guitar) and Pau (drums) trade vocal leads. Pay attention to Pau who is perhaps the best singing drummer to come along in a generation or two.

I guess we can welcome you to The Warning Army now. Thank you for listening to we all said in the comments about these ladies and giving them a second chance. Now, since you mentioned the drummer (Pau) having a great voice also, you are gonna have to check out a song that Pau sings lead on, Dust to Dust might be a good place to start. As you will hear from the rest of the gang, stick with Teatro Metropolitan videos if you want live recordings.

I have always been intrigued by drummers who play and sing lead vocals at the same time. As I understand it, a very hard thing to do. Pau (pronounced "POW" which is perfect for the pocket sized nuclear reactor that sits behind the drum kit), hits like Keith Moon and sings flawlessly at the same time. There is a point in the song Disciple where is shows her doing a lead vocal while doing a drum fill without it impacting her voice. As part of her exercise routine, Pau runs on a treadmill while singing!!

Now you're getting the good stuff! That's how we want our band to be presented! The 21 year old drummer writes all the lyrics, and has been playing since she was 6. Her idol is Neil Peart. Wait until you get to their previous album, Queen Of The Murder Scene, a concept album that she wrote she was 15/16, and that bassist was 13. They have almost 50 songs, and No. Filler. "Queen of the Murder Scene is a concept album which tells the story of a disturbed young woman's inner journey from desire to obsession to murder and madness."

It is perhaps useful to know that this is their _encore_ ... (they've used it as their closer kind of traditionally for this tour, which sort of took place in two - or perhaps three - parts after being delayed by the whole pandemic mess over this past year plus) after a full nearly two hour concert. They are pretty much wiped out at this point... but you'd never know it, just looking at this performance. You should really grab pretty much any tune from this concert... you will be surprised, and definitely pleased, I think. 🤘😁🤘

The next reaction to the power trio, I recommend their piece "Disciple" because I think it will catch your attention, among other things, that the main vocals alternate between Dany (guitar) and Pau (drums) and with outstanding work from Ale (bass). Of course in its presentation known as: "Live at Teatro Metropólitan CDMX" (CDMX = Mexico City). Your reactions are interesting and entertaining, I'm very interested in your opinion and analysis of TW's other creations, some of which are true rock gems! That performance made me love that song. They also performed Evolve for the VMAs and their energy was through the roof. And for the Teatro Metropolitan CDMX performance, this should be you 'goto' show for their live stuff.. and all the stuff you react to should be live, EXCEPT for Choke.
