The 53 on the block is also cast on the driver's side under the injection pump, right behind the timing case and above the oil pan

I spent $2,200 on my 94 GMC dually with the 6.5 Detroit and body is good outside of bad cab corners and a bad exhaust but the truck itself is solid good frame everything. I live in Illinois but it used to be in the south before I bought it. Super happy with my truck :) I'd love to see y'all build a 6.5 or 6.2 Detroit

Another issue I’ve heard of with the 12valves is the killer dowel pin, but I’m pretty sure that was more of an issue in the 1st gens. Oh also if you go to look at a second gen and it has a cracked dash then don’t worry about it because ALL second gens have a broken dash. My friend has two of these trucks, the Cummins has a dash cover to cover the crack, and his 318 V8 has a dash delete as in he beat the cracked dash out with his hand.

12valve is the boss...deleted fuel heater, fss, muffler and cat, installed starter switch and fuel pressure guage and tcc lockup switch, tabbed kdp, adjustable boost elbow and overflow valve on the p-pump.

Remember guys 2nd gens a lot of the time have cracked dashes, it’s normal! Just use a dash cover and to have the dash last longer get a sun dash visor. Not as hard on the dash

Pretty much if it hasn't failed after 150k miles it's good. Most 53 blocks if they're gonna fail, fail early on. I've never heard or seen a 53 block that has failed with high mileage.

I think the 53 blocks from Brazil are the bad one there are 53 blocks out of Mexico that are good but they are prone to crack in the water jacket at any amount of miles there's people that didn't crack until over 400k but it is something to shy away from good video by the way 👍👍👍👍👍👍✌

I'll tell you what to look for ...RUST! Dodge trucks have been rust buckets for a long time. From the 70's versions right up until 2010 when RAM took over they finally got it figured out. I know from experience I have had them all and they were ALL rust buckets....
