Vadim M I dont know if this helps but goin up in LA when this game came out i believe they wanted to represent a certain actual Los Angeles street gang Called Hoover's with there gang color is orange and there gang slang to use his Groove or Grove so when making San Andreas i think they had that gang in mind but decided later on to Change the game's gang color and Name to stop hood politics and make the gane available for all people including enemies ofthe real life street Gang just stating what i know about the game and the real Los Angeles area it draws from

utilizator500 ps2 has some nice graphical effects which could not be seen on pc. Different platforms have different graphical features. The game looks the best on mobile and xbox.

Could mean the street is actually named orange grove street, since that sounds more like a street name than just grove street, but it was shortened so commonly to just “grove street” that’s the reason it’s usually called that, with the graffiti just being a longer version of the same thing

Worst theory ever...the gang is called Families,which that it have 3 sets; Grove Street Families(GSF),Seville Boulevard Families(SBF),Temple Drive Families(TDF),but to be honnest maybe theres a missing set that can be the Orange Grove Familes(OGF) just because Ballas have 4 sets and thats kinda unfair.

I think OG Loc had the orange because of his time in prison. Probably got him "street cred" as a rapper.

Awesome work as always! Although, I don't think artworks should be considered stages of character's development. They never were close to in-game appearances, so I guess them being different was just meant to add some more variety.

I love this video! I like it for the argument treated, the good analisys and the music!

In the mission 'High Stakes,Low Rider',Cesar transports Kendl to the race start.However,Kendl's model being the BFYST model. I think this is because this is the only time Kendl spawns in-game,so she have only the cutsene model,so the BFYST model appeared in-game to reduce spaces.

Orange Grove Families is said and referenced so many times in released GTA SA version that I always thought that THIS is the real gang name, while there are three sub-gangs - GROVE STREET FAMILIES, Temple Drive Families and Seville Boulevard Families, which are also reffered to in game.

Other than the fact you said "Orange Grove Families" which would have itself been a sub set of "Families". All the sets you named were sub sets not the overall gang. Families is the Gang, not Orange Grove Families like you mentioned in your post. So really if you think about it, while it may be close it is actually totally wrong.

I always tought that Orange Grove Families was the previous name that the gang acquired before the Seville Boulevard and the Temple Drive Families split from the Grove.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Brown_(American_football) The earlier model that was originally Kendyl ... that jersey was basically an Oakland Raiders Tim Brown jersey. that's probably why they changed it later for the ped, to avoid licensing issues with the NFL.

They went through such a hassle to just change the color, Orange Grove sounded classy, they could've keep it.

OG has always meant the original gangster. OG is even mentioned in the prologue. I don't believe anyone has ever once thought OG loc stood for orange grove loc.

Not sure if this has been mentioned in comments anywhere, but the "carter" lines are referencing The Carter in New Jack City, which is what Big Smokes crack palace was inspired by

For smokes are being cut out they left the shadow in to make it look like the gta logo’s shadow

Also, you can buy Ryder's dark green windbreaker in any Sub Urban store... the color is the same as the second generation from the GSF development tree

My theory is that in the Beta version CJ wasn't meant to be the main character in the game, makes sense if MC Strap was the character controled by the player. Instead of Johnson's House as main house, it would be the house in front (the one used for the OG Loc party). And the MC blip was changed to the CJ blip. Maybe in the beginning of the game you had to go to MC blip instead of CJ blip and go to the other house instead CJ mom's house. I think that make more sense. And the reason why the Rockstar changed from orange to green was because they made a lot of reference to some movies like the "New Jack City" which has the drugs and the apartment complex and the "Clockwork Orange" which has 4 main characters and an orange theme with Big Smoke's hat. (Orange Grove also had 4 orange characters Sweet, Big Smoke, Ryder and MC Strap). So in two months, Rockstar had to make huge changes to Grove and probably that's when CJ was made and MC Strap was turned into OG Loc. That's my theory. We weren't supose to be CJ but yes MC Strap. That probably answers to the question "Why all GTA Games have all their characters in loading art and GTA: San Andreas doesn't?", because CJ wasn't meant to be the protagonist, but yes MC Strap. ;)

I think it was their original color representing their street in the 80's before Brian Johnson died and then the gang changed colors while cj was 5 years absent and big bear was wearing a polo with a orange like color

the reason why sweet and ryder had green clothes while smoke still had the orange one cuz smoke was gonna betray the team since the beginning of the development while ryder's betrayal was decided later.just look at smoke all of his missions benefit crash and he was actually living in a ballas street while ryder's missions benefited the grove street families by providing them guns and his house is in the grove ryder also was talking to cj in an aggressive way just like sweet an act that shows that these 2 characters are mad at cj for leaving them,ryder is cj's childhood friend they basically grew up together and another evidence that ryder's betrayal was decided later is the fact that cj only talks about smoke,he only says that smoke sold them out and mentions ryder in the photograph mission and when he kills him.

Something I found odd about this is that Rockstar could simply made a reason like during the mission where we're taught to buy clothes in the game, CJ could ask "wait, we aren't supposed to wear Orange? Why are the orange grove families wearing green now?" and Ryder awnser was "We switched a few things days after you moved" or anything like that, it can be a good easter egg and it would explain the "Orange Grove Families" paints we see during the game...

Kendl old texture skin can still be shown in the high stack low riders when racing if you get close you can see her skin

I think Young Maylay (CJ's voice actor) says "OGS, Groove Street Families" in his song "Grove Street" (Not the San Andreas theme song)

TBA - to be announced (date). I was bored when I was doing it. Sadly, there are some beta map renders, so I decided to put one map on another and rapidly change the order. By doing this you can clearly see the differences, but it is lame, because there are no pictures, no lods left from the old map places and all I can see that this building was cut and there was another road there. Nothing else, you should use your imagination how it looked. I really don't know if this video will be up, but at this time I have no idea how to make it simply interesting.

I remember copping that game informer from Game Stop when they were starting to promote SA, it was definitely Orange Grove in the beginning but they didn’t advertise with orange being the primary color, in fact I always thought the dude with the long sleeve and gold chain had on brown, guess it was orange lol

After watching one of your other videos I noticed that you disproved the "Big Smoke 's beta name might have been Carter" finding. Carter is simply part of a movie that his hideout was based on

Will you cover the beta tattoos from the early screenshots where CJ entered the Tattoo Parlor? Not to mention, the beta tattoo artist? In the beta, he wore gloves. In the final, he doesn't. Also, the Micro-Sub-Machine gun tattoo replaces the 9mm Handgun tattoo and never got rectified. It's picture is still among the other tattoos in the shop.

you can hear a guy in VCPR radio in gta vice city say "i have an orange grove tattoo" something like that

accidently,rockstar forget to change the beta kendl to the new one at the"high stakes,lowrider"mission.

also 8:57 i had a clue that was her beta model. on the mission where you first race ceser to the docks if you follow their car on the way to the starting line you will see kendls beta model in the car with ceser. i always found it strange that she was in the car on that mission with that model, or at lease i thought she was someone else

You just know this was one of those changes that made the art and sound team groan, was probably really late given all the remaining evidence of OGF.

I like their old name OGF. I guess they are still called that, if they are now the Grove Street Families, then that's just a shortened Orange Grove...they are still the Grove. People probably started called them Grove Street for convenience so they decided players would do that too so cut the Orange from the common title. And used green because I guess it stands out from the orange hue of the game better. And Grove Street, maybe for in game reasons you could say it was renamed Grove Street un officially by the residents and really would be Orange still...or the city council renamed it. I like to think the gang works under both titles...it sort of still does. 8:48 Well, it's not uncommon for houses to look the same, in-fact is rather unusual to have a street full of different ones, at least majorly.
