I remember owning both Vice City and San Andreas on my iPad Mini, and while I appreciated the streamlined controls, the checkpoint saves, and being able to keep your weapons after you die, I was very disappointed how they gutted the soundtrack for both games. I really wanted to jam to a little Ozzy Osbourne while in a car chase. Shame that Rockstar lost the licensing to those songs.

Rias Gremory They didn't "lose" them, they just lowered the costs by licensing only for a short amount of time for the original version (which is unfortunately pretty normal in the gaming industry) and didn't spend much more resources than needed for the Steam Version. That's why they didn't renew the licenses.

I'll stick to the original PS2 version. In addition to that you also have that old school feeling.

When I saw Killing in the name on the list of cut songs I got really sad. It is one of my favourite songs and I can just imagine mowing down pedestrians in a car while listening to it...

Dam I got this in the trilogy pack years ago. Says it's 1.0. Didn't even know all these differences lol.

`The out of place romantic tune actually captures perfectly how uncomfortable a bad date can be. The music is the same, the food is the same but the atmosphere is completely different despite that.

Pretty relevant video right now, it was the first one I thought of as soon as I heard of the trilogy remaster version coming out. Honestly, I'm surprised how many people genuinely thought it was going to be even remotely close to the original San Andreas when this Steam version sums up pretty damn well how they only care about the money.

So for 90% of players, Steam version with Silent Patch is actually the best. It's more modern and upgraded than 1.0 or 1.01 and with SilentPatch you fix all the bugs the Steam version has

I know I'm 7 months late, but the main reason why the PC version is the best compared to the other PC GTA Titles, is that Rockstar was building the game on PC from the start. Instead of building it on consoles then Porting it to PC, its built as a PC game from the start. That's why the game took forever to be ready. I can be wrong though, heard this in late 2015 - 2 years ago.

I just replayed this game pretty recently, my first play through on a retail disk and my more recent one on steam. I actually feel ashamed I didn't notice the cut tracks, but now I'm going to go and watch your downgrading video, and probably play it again.

Thanks for this very professional and informative video! Gladly I don't have too worry about most of this Steam release BS as I'm the proud owner of the original DVD version. I just apply the Widescreen Fix and Silent Patch and all is good :)

The biggest sins of GTASA Steam version are the removals of Running Down A Dream and especially Killing in the Name

Today's new update (22/03) doesn't change the game version, it still sux. It only adds DirectX redist and nothing more.

Maybe the steam version was done by another team at Rockstar Games, therefore they didn't care as much for the smaller details as the original developers would have maybe combined all the fixes so you would have the best experience for the game.

It was banned in Thailand because of the incident where a passenger killed a taxi driver with a knife to emulate what GTA games did.

I distinctively remember the "good date" music being over the "bad date" cutscenes and NEVER heard a Rage Against the Machine song on the original version of the PS2. This change must have occurred during the 're-release' version that came out with the Xbox version

The only really noticeable things are the radio tracks missing and the bad date music but only if you swing that way. EDIT: Also what i've noticed is that sensitivity is broken, it doesnt change up and down sensitivity but only left and right.

There's a new contender for the 'worst version', the Windows Store edition

Thankfully all you have to do is use the downgrader for 1.0, apply the silent patch (drag and drop files), and the widescreen mod. If you're gonna use a pad use the ginput mod or w.e it is. It sounds like a lot but these are all dragging and dropping 1mb files into the folder.

Well I’m quite happy with the Steam version. Still the great game I played all those years ago

When you install the game through Steam you actually get two versions. One is I think 2.0 and the other is the version in the video. When you launch the game from steam it launches the Steam version discussed in the video. If you go to steamapps/ common there is the other version.(or I may have moved the other version there a long time ago) Anyway I played the game until I got to LV. Then realising that frame limiter messes up the game and the default limit is very low I decided to used an app. Now I was able to play the game on a good version with good fps. Then it started crashing randomly, mostly when entering cars or missions. I figured it would be better to play on the bad version than not playing the game so I went back to that. But as I used my save on a previous version of the game, steam version decided it was time to reset my saves. So I tried using a save editor to "upgrade" my save file back to steam version. For some reason doing that caused both the versions to crash upon loading that save file. I gave up on playing SA on pc.(especially steam)

I will admit that for the longest time, I didn't play San Andreas because of this video. Playing the official Steam release is bad enough, but having to install a downgrade is worse. I wish that it was way much easier than the trouble I remember having to go through. Overall, nice video!

Interesting. I bought the Steam version during some christmas sales, and the only thing I noticed was the lowrider bug in César Vialpando mission

I bought the german 1.0 first release. So this is the version you can do the most with?

I have a question whats the point of paying if you can crack the game

God, what is it with Rockstar ruining their own games. I thought I only had to worry about GTA4 getting its soundtrack/experience destroyed. Now it seems like every GTA game I own I have to check for which version and patch to fix it. Ridiculous.

I still have the GFWL version. No idea which version of the game it actually is, but it seems to run fairly well. I intentionally didn't transfer the game to Steam because I had heard how bad their version of the game was. Oh, and I also have a day one copy of GTA SA for the PS2. Even used one of those cheat devices (can't remember which one) to unlock Hot Coffee.

I played threw the whole steam version with not really any problem i love it infact it is better than the ps3 version for me

So technically this version doesn’t exist anymore? Haha

no but we have Rockstar Games Launcher version which is worse, and the remastered that's WAY EVEN WORSE

There are more bugs in the current Steam version: - If you set the screen resolution to a 32 bit one, the intro won't play, the game jumps right to the main menu. However, if the resolution is a 16 bit one, the intro plays as it's supposed to. - If you play the game with multiple monitors, the game crashes the instant a vehicle explodes. If you disable the secondary monitor(s) using Windows+P, and then launch the game, it won't crash for this particular reason. Though I'm not sure if this bug is Steam-version-exclusive.

It's nice to see people making videos on San Andreas

I got the retail version with the hot coffe patch for ps2

I think it’s better that way

Its kind of bullshit that developers can just remove content from the game at anytime. Its also bullshit that producers can force companies that bought the rights to delete their content. Imagine if the mona lisa had to be destroyed because leonardo was loaned the paint.

Any way to make the steam version to windowed mode without 3rd party downloads? It would be helpful to edit the directory files directly or create a file for graphics options to make it not full screen. That's the only problem, everything else works fine as is.

This is why we love Lord Gaben.

I think you can by putting some files in the com.rockstargames.gtasa in android/data, last time I check, some people are working on it, I dont know if they are finished now

Nuel 398 Thanks but I need to redownload the game due to SD card problems, anyways I have Vice City and some songs have been removed as well, I went to the .OBB file then audio and there is every audio track in mp3 format, with the radios, maybe I just need to replace them with the original from a PC version, i'll go check it out, thanks for your help!

The apk doesnt contain the ACTUAL, just the launcher. When you buy the game off the Play Store it also downloads an .OBB file that placed in /android/obb. That OBB file is the game

Maybe you should look at the reviews on steam. I looked on a steam review on steam and someone rated it like this: -Decent graphics -Very good gameplay -Good audio -Can get annoying Bugs Hope i could help

Good to see that Rockstar was already scummy back then
