    JP, this is one of the best, relaxed and informative videos you have done. I have just suffered thru 4 weeks of ulnural nerve entrapment in my fretting arm, and it was not pleasant. If your arm is going sleepy playing a dread, don't tempt fate, get one of these fit outs. I may have missed it in the video, how are they attached and can they be removed easily?

    They are attached with a double sided tape that can be removed with no damage.

    I was dreaming last night. Talking to Chet. Chet says to me, he says: I ain’t never used no stinkin’ arm rest” he said. “I don’t want my arm rested” he said. Mark Knopfler was chuckling in the background!

    I hope the maple guitar + ebony armrest works better aesthetically for you than I feel it has for my setup! I've an ebony John Pearse armrest on my circa 1994 Ibanez PF-40 with flamed maple back and sides, rosewood bridge and fretboard - duh. My reasoning back in the day for ebony was that it is what is used for violin armrests. It is black - stained perhaps - and stands out, so I replaced the white plastic bridge pins and endpin with Martin ebony ones, which helped a bit aesthetically and - of course! - tonally. More recently, I replaced the white plastic nut and bone saddle - a replacement itself - with Black Tusq ones. Ebony tuning machine heads would probably help some more, with gold hardware - all black would likely also work.

    Long-winded, my apologies. The other bit I wanted to comment on, and is more important than aesthetics, is the functionality of the John Pearse armrest. It is the standard width - I don't recall the thinner widths as being available back then - and so it definitely 'there.' It ~ 95% fits the curve of the guitar, and my (thin) forearm is never wont for space, but ideally I would like the armrest to be a bit lower down - where it appears your ARC armrest will lay.

    In addition to the install, it would be helpful to see a removal as well.

    Hmmm....that is really interesting. I play fingerstyle on Furch grand auditoriums, 6 and 12 string, and I'm not a big guy. Being always aware not to keep my arm on the top of the guitar does present just one more thing to think about when performing. This looks like it will eliminate that! 😎

    The first guitar I ever tried an armrest on was a Stonebridge/ Furch. It made a huge difference considering how thin their tops are. I was able to really hear the guitar.

    Love this idea !! Want one ! Where for I send my dwrawring? Question… Although people hold their guitars a bit differently, could a person order one for a J-200 Epi based off the same measurements as the one in this video providing they are willing to live with the end result ? Or do you advise against it ? (1”x1” mark …. could also be the out line of a loonie, or any other standard unit of measure if a ruler is not available )

    great concept Iwould think better than beveling the guitar for forearm and alot less labor intensive to build in a armrest bevel

  • @thearc6584

    @thearc6584

    Hey Joe, the guitar bevel is actually just a cofor thing and doesn't do anything for the tone of the guitar. With The ARC you get the best of both worlds!

    Does resting the arm on the body also affect tone when plugged in ?

    Hey Kenny, a lot of times the pickup doesn't deal with the vidration of the body, only what's coming through the saddle. If you have a guitar with an internal mic or a K&K you may notice some tonal differences though!
