So, pretty sure I just got absolutely f'd on this demerger. I had 17 shares of gsk at $43 each (roughly $685 in value on the 18th.) Now it's showing that HLN is only worth 301.00 pence so a total value of around $56.00... Wow.

Any idea if this holds true for only shares listed on the LSE or will the same happen to the GSK ADR shares listed on the NYSE?

great info. it begs 2 questions for me though... 1) how do we apportion the cost basis for our holdings. not sure how to calculate the profit if i sold one but not the other company. i'm thinking it could be based on the opening price of both on monday or maybe GSK declares it or HMRC? 2) when GSK share consolidate what happens to any fractional shares. e.g. if they did a 3 to 2 consolidation and i own 401 shares that's 267.333333 shares for me post consolidation. my broker does not do fractional shares so i'm guessing a small cash payment for that 1/3 of a share? i hope they don't just take it from me with no compensation.

Glad you like the video. Take a look at HMRC’s document’HS285’ which explains how you apportion the base cost for the purpose of any future disposals and CGT thereon, and includes a numerical example

I think is a good buy at the current price due to their share of the market, I’m of the opinion that as the market gets better the share price of Haleon will skyrocket but the normal caveat applies, I have been bullish with Haleon but I might be wrong just an educated guess.

Makes no sense how my $42/share GSK goes to a $7 HLN........we should have been given a choice....seems criminal......
