On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

To get a Tomcat cockpit, he would have to import it from Iran. Since that is illegal, he settles for a desk.

Yeah, to get an F14 cockpit from Iran is illegal. The worst I've heard about the Iran-Iraq era criminals charges for giving F14A like TF-30s and AWG-9 radars. Basically, important parts to Iran were on death row.

I know what you mean however, I think it would be a detriment to GS’s content. When he manipulates cockpit switches in his videos we can see what he’s doing via the on-screen cursor. We’d lose that if he were to use a simpit and physical switches.

Finally got me a flight room. I went all in. I wondered how you could see a bogey so far away. Now I understand what that 55-in lol😂 explains it all. Awesome!
Thanks for the behind the scenes vid. Keep up the good work.
been waiting for this video lmao, love the content keep up the great work road to 500k----1,000,000
Appreciate the fresh updates!
I built a simulator about 10 years ago and I use it primarily to practice IFR flying using old school Microsoft Flight Simulator X (that particular software is a little dated but it still works fine). I had a traditional desk chair for it at first but no actual plane I have flown has had a desk chair in the cockpit. I wanted something from an actual vehicle, so I went to the local junk yard and found a front passenger seat (the driver’s seats were all way too worn and the passenger seat is pretty much the same thing) from a 1993 Nissan Maxima for $35. I built a base for the seat out of some scraps of old lumber so that was pretty much free. It works great; I still use it to this day.
I now understand why I struggle on my phone to see enemy in a dogfight , yet you pick them up quickly. Wonderful screen.
Nice timing, I’m just finishing up the last few things for my gaming setup so I can finally play DCS
Thank you for showing your set up. I like most other of your followers really wants to see your set up. As expected no bullshit, clean and useful components making up the Tools for a VATARAN DCS flyer along with other multitasks ❤️✌🏻🙂
Had my Thrust-master T1600m for 4 years now , look after it keep it clean, re grease every year and it’s like brand new !
Awesome setup and awesome channel. Bravo.
Those desk mounts for the hotas are a game changer. No more fucked up wrists after playing.
Very nice Setup. I use a 42" LG TV as a Monitor and Track IR even has Problems at this Size and I struggeled a while with it. So it can happen even on smaller Screens than 55".
Such valuable info - thank you as always, GS. p.s. since I'm watching this late, it's great to see you made the 500k subs - and then some ;)
Thank you for the view and information on the set up……

Thanks for this! And responding to my email about it.
the tflight hotas one is pretty good, if you set up the 2 small backbuttons on the throttle to modifiers you have enough keys for pretty much every important control
Nice to see that some of my gear matched yours.... i have the same mouse mat....
ty for the set up vid :)
Perfect timing GS! I literally wondered out loud to myself if you had updated ur set up. ….probably shouldn’t have done that in church though. Anyway, great stuff as always!

Epic coolness!
I just bought the same keyboard you use its awesome so far
I have the same exact stick population... they're all great! I can't imagine a 55" monitor...that is huge! (I have 3x 1920x1080 monitors)
Next time we need to see that bathroom!
It would be interesting to see your Trackir settings. Because in the videos your head movement is very smooth and nice to watch, but when I play with Trackir everything feels a bit weird even though I played around with the settings for multiple hours.
It is awesome to show that entry and bang for your buck equipment can give great results. Having said that, I think you’ve earned yourself an upgrade. 🤣

YES FINALLY THE SETUP!!!
what a setup!!! Very nice, hotas 4 and a WHOLE lot of key binds here, i still kill stuff haha
Meanwhile I am trying to dogfight with a Logitech 3 from 2007 on a laptop. (Dogfight is a relative term here) Your setup looks awesome! As a few have said, your videos are what got me into trying this. I picked up the Hornet with the sale, just took it out the first time yesterday.
I'm no content creator, and have no online cred. But I have become competent with the Hornet, and currently have a setup I can highly recommend. It's not too dissimilar to yours. Good PC: 5800x3D 64GB DDR4 3600 RTX 4090 42" LG C2 OLED Track IR Sim Rig: Winwing Orion 2 F18 HOTAS Monster Tech HOTAS mounts Thrustmaster TPR rudders Herman Miller Aero chair. Some good studio monitors for epic, lifelike sound. A few other bits and bobs, like an extra mouse with mount, for easy reach. I love this setup. It's made learning the F/A 18 a pure joy.
Of the many subscriptions I have on YT, GS is the channel I definitely religiously go to as soon as I see a new video from him. His delivery of DCS is entertaining AND informative altogether. The many technical terms and lectures in military aviation can get boring fast but GS has this talent that simply prevents that. His voice over does not necessitate exaggeration. It's just calm and consistent. There's a little bit of emotion for the sake of keeping the viewer's spirits up. Kinda' like your dad trying to throw a joke at you -- and then you're laughing while his face is still serious. 😁 Also, watching him dogfight makes me worried, that we may be giving our real world adversaries too much information. I am actually scared one day that the US military (USAF and USN in particular) will come knocking to GS's door and tell him to quit making Top Gun level information in the interest of national security. The last part, I'm f*cking serious. 😐

THE OFFICE 🙌🏻
Thank you very much for the overview! Quick question: Have you ever done a video of your ingame settings? Would be interesting to see those!
Very nice! I only have a Thrustmaster control stick and full-size keyboard plugged into a laptop for YSFlight.
Very nice setup! How come you don't post more VR content? DCS must be amazing with that Pimax.
I would have bet the farm on there being Virpil gear throughout. Makes me rethink what I’m saving for.
The 16000M is a great stick, just wanted to add to that. I also believe that the same hall effect sensors are used in the 16000M as the Thrustmaster HOTAS joystick, just FYI for anyone interested.
Yeah that chair was so good specially when you pull around 9Gs you need that kind of stuff to keep your spine intact
So glad I found your channel ☺️ thanks for all the hard work Also do you fly in other sims outside of DCS like Microsoft flight sim?
GS does a good job showing us that you dont need the best or most expensive equipment to become good
whoaa awesome 😎
I'm still trying to figure out how you can turn your head almost 180° and still see your monitor while using Track IR. Is it a setting for head turn vs. screen turn ratio or something? Like mouse sensitivity, or am I missing something?
Awesome to see you behind the scenes GS, ive always had Logitech joysticks growing up usually playing old Novalogic games, however if most logitech sticks work good with DCS id love to know if its the case, im not sure if Saitek Joysticks would be good either too since they came with CD's some time ago with something for the setup, but from watching the video i definitely am amazed how it all began to where you are now. Congrats and awesome layout
Id love to see video of you sitting and playing so I can see the game and equipment in use!

Good Stuff
The t16000 is a great stick and it has a matching throttle that has paddles on it that I use for rudder. It can also connect a set of peddles through the throttle too.
@ThomasONeal-bn4sr
11 ай бұрын
I wish it didn’t want to bring the stick back to center with so much force. Makes it really tough to air refuel, imo.
That pen flicking has some attitude.
I was wondering and hoping when you're going to do some more WWII stuff?. Good old-fashioned WWII dog fighting would be a big pleasure to watch from you
less go new setup video
Surprisingly simple setup - no fancy setup (except for those pedals, those are top tier!). Cheap stick is OK for starting, but the moment you want any refueling and the throttle axis does its own jittery thing, not to mention limited precision... then you need at least something like T.16000 and TWCS throttle - and even that will soon start to angry you with jitter.
Nice rig!
my chair is a wooden folding chair. i like it fixed feets to not roll off while using the pedals.
Would love some videos abojt how you use the replays to show such cool shots etc and like out movies together.
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
I have the thrustmaster warthog throttle and the thrustmaster F-18 stick with the base plate. I only need 2 more things to “complete” my setup. Trackir and foxx mounts.
Im really stunned by your PC specs, im still used to things built like 10, 15 years ago with like 2GB of RAM so that thing you have feels like a NASA PC lol very very cool, no wonder why your videos are SO good 🔥
