    Love your comments on the rudder pedals, I remember my first time in a real airplane trying to taxi to the active, I was trying to steer with my yoke and almost wound up in the grass. My instructor laughed and said it happens to everyone. Once you get use to the rudders, you won't even think about using them.

    Thank you so much for this. I love the stick but after a year a few years ago I had this problem. I have no experience fixing fiddly internal electronics and didn't think there was a fix, and wanting to experiment with HOSAS for Star Citizen I bought the two-joystick bundle and that way I would have two joystick as back-ups in case the same problem happened. The 2nd broke a few days ago in the same way, I switched to my third thinking I do not want to buy any more of these. I went looking and found your video, gathered my courage and fixed both the old joysticks and it worked really well. Thanks for doing this fix and I appreciate the thing you said at the beginning, the part about you not being an electronics expert...being the same way it made this a little less intimidating to attempt.

    Hi drewski, interesting thing about angled flight sticks in military planes: they are usually angled a bit to the left so that pilot don’t bend their wrists. By twisting the stick slightly left, it forces pilots to have like a bear claw grip, and that better for when your pulling G’s (cause you don’t bend your wrist)

  • @jmstallard

    @jmstallard

    3 жыл бұрын

    The sticks that are angled to the left are center mounted, correct? That's so their hand stays in a more comfortable position relative to their forearm angle, which will also be to the left.

    This is some really cool stuff, been wanting to go back into flight sims again, was waiting for an awesome SIM (I used to play DID - F2000 and at that points was reading books about aeroplane tactics and such just to get better). Somewhere in the attic, I have my old Thrustmaster set up. The things about the buttons brings back memories about have a button on my throttle that switched all buttons either in taking off & landing mode, fly mode and battle mode. The fact of using flaps to just park behind my friends and fly on their ass. I just went to the website and it is a pity that they don't sell the full package they sold you. You actually have to understand the product before you can order it :))). Awesome video... I might pick up flight sims again!

Worth every cent. Im a DCS guy i fly the 18 and the tomcat and i can tell a massive difference between flying with the X-56 compared to the virpil.

    Real aircraft are the same. The first trigger is so easy, the 2nd trigger sucks, heads up they are usually used for comms, that or/and a foot switch, first stage is usually for internal comms, 2nd stage for external. Well on helo’s anyway :) maybe jets are different, never worked on those.

    The A10 uses the first pressure to gyro stabilize the aircraft in pitch lock and the second pressure fires the GAU This is because the gun is so powerful it pitches the nose up when fired the stabilization system moves the elevator to keep it locked where you are firing.....so epic. THANK YOU SO MUCH for this video! I've been looking on Amazon for weeks to find a new throttle! I am ordering this throttle today!! :D

    Rudder pedals are great. I've used them with the X52 in the past. I used them to yaw of course in Elite Dangerous. Makes much more sense than turning the joystick roll into a yaw. I actually wound up setting the joystick twist to be the vertical thrust axis so I could more easily land gently. Still had problems though as its such a limited range especially when you include enough deadzone to keep from drifting.

    Just saw this after seeing a first DCS piece. I have been playing flight sims since they were monochrome until 2010. Never got past the saitek. I had the first track IR and before made a tracker myself. I don't have time to sim now, but otherwise I would have instantly bought the gear you have. Many thanks

    I recently got the full Virpil setup. It's pretty expensive when you get a full setup, but man is it good. The Constellation sticks have even more buttons, they have both a left and right for space sim games, and another xbox stick on it. Also, not sure if that stick has twist, but there is a screw you can tighten to lock it from twisting (assuming you would be using the pedals if you decide to do this).

    that little joystick on the throttle looks like it'd be great for SC and ED for maneuvering thrusters. I've been thinking about picking up a set of control like this for that.

    An excellent video, thanks. With the TrackIR, I use the basic metal clip which is simple and sturdy. My room has a large window with no curtain and I only have problems on very sunny days. It also doesn’t have a wire to bother about. BTW the friction on the Mongoose throttles is easy to adjust, if you take the base plate off there is a nut for each one,

    I own first iteration of Virpil Mongoose and first version of t 50 throttle (the one with detents, and honestly that version looks even better, kinda shame virpil doesn't make them anymore). Everything Drewski said is true. But im gonna add couple of things. You can customize the feeling of many components, with the base you also get springs and cams, cams are the reason whole thing feels very smooth and precise, ball bearings are rolling on those cams and are "tensioned" by different springs, the profile of those cams can give you different feel to stick movement, you want your stick to have very firm "midline" split? No problem, or you want to not feel when you transition from right to left and not increase tension from bigger angle? there is space sim cam for that. So you can customize even the feeling of your stick to what you want, and Virpil will not void your warranty, they actively encourage changing those components. Another thing is software, at first is very daunting and complex but you can do so much with it, in 15:04 you can disable mode switching and make this knob behave like 5 different buttons, so I binded flaps positions to it. What even more crazy is that software will detect anything you attach to pcb inside throttle.... im not kidding, you can attach some button, solder it to pcb and it will work (dunno why would you want even more buttons but hey). The whole thing is perfect, its like playing with old solid German mechanical calculator, and immersion in elite is beyond great. Oh you can also split your throttle to two virtual devices so Elite will detect all buttons (Elite cannot detect more then 32 buttons per device).

    I’m glad I got my Logitech X56 for free. It feels like a big hunk of cheap plastic. They didn’t even bother to put a metal plate at the bottom of the throttle to make it feel “premium”. Would’ve been pissed if I had spent $250 on it. Is simply collecting dust on my desk now. It’ll be a breath of fresh air when I upgrade to this kit! Gonna get my Valve Index first though!

    Thank you a lot ^^ It is nice to see the stuff in use and hearing your thoughts about them without having to risk throwing money out of the window XD Well for my start with DCS, I first used a PS4 Controller and the Keyboard... without I was unable to fly propperly, don't know why. But with the Dualshock 4 I got to love the SU-25T, but not to long after I stepped up to the X56 Rhino from Logitech. Having a look at the Saitech one you got back in the day I would say I went a bit overboard and got a mixture between the Saitech and the Virpil one... And that is the one I might stick to like the Saitech one will have a special place in your heart ^^ Don't have a track IR... maybe yet.... might pick one up after you showing it off a bit thank you a lot again :
