This game reminds me of the Jane's series of flight sim. while its not as complicated as DCS, the radar and weapons systems are very approachable for an old timer like me (52). I really like this. May I ask could you show what VR equipment you are using? This would be something I would save for.

@@CaptainAvatar238 I'm pretty sure there aren't any crazy limitations. I got a buddy who plays on a meta quest 2, I personally play on a valve index. All you really need is hand tracking and an HMD

After 3 years we have come full circle from Drew being tought in vtol vr to him being the teacher. The student has fr become the Master.

It concerns me a little, thinking about the amount of time I must've spent looking like an idiot waving my head around because I was using the headtrack reticle to outline an area for a friend who's flying.

Drew's vtol vr videos inspired me to buy a headset and introduce my friends to it to play with me. I've never had so much fun in my entire life. Edit: I've spent over 3 hours trying to do this same mission solo

@lennartcordes7605 Refurbished quest 2. I'm happy with it, I chose it mainly because it can be a standalone headset so I don't have to lug my laptop around.

The most immersive flying experience on VR without question. Butter smooth and made for full VR interaction. And does this for $330 +potato pc (Quest2) instead of needing a high end pc, a 4090, high end HOTAS and high end VR headset.

Just so you know, you can set the GBUs to cycle through GPS targets automatically. So you can set up 3 GPS targets in close proximity, then roll in, pickle 3x and roll out rather than cycling manually. Or, at least, you can on the single-seaters. I haven't tried on the T-55

The Tyro’s avionics are nigh-identical to the 26B and the 42C, so I’d imagine it would be the same.

Drew really needs to make more of those Vtol Vid's there are so good and fun especially when you yourself play the game! Also whatever filter he uses looks amazing that needs to be in game.

I love super realistic and detailed sims, but VTOL is just on another level for sheer VR enjoyment. It's the perfect balance between complexity and keeping things easily accessible for VR use, not to mention how well it runs on systems which would probably give 5fps in DCS in VR.

Amazing video Drewski! The between action banter and conversations had me rolling. This was a truly fun ride-along!

I love the talking while heading back it reminded me of a vlog, like he was holding the phone or camera and talking about their day. Great content Drewski!

Banger vid as always Drewski! I love every time you get back into VTOL VR, I feel like you treat it with just the right amount of seriousness a lite-sim like this deserves. I'd love to see you try out some mods some time too, like the new SAAB 39 Gripen mod for the game! Speaking of mods, I'd love to see you and some friends try to mess around with the H3MP multiplayer mod for H3VR! Doing some take n hold maps with three or four friends with only like, 500 hp would be awesome fun

It cannot be said enough that VTOL is a phenomenal game, and if you have a vr headset and haven't played it yet you are doing yourself a disservice. Please buy this game and play it, help the community grow

This was awesome, i have been wanting to get into combat flight sims , it might not be soon. But this definitely made me want to look into this as an alternative to dcs

The biggest take from all this is having situational awareness. Ok you may have had a few goes at this before taking the newbie through it all but you worked out how to deal with all the threats and he will too. Good training for him. Kudos, you're a natural at this shit. I just wonder how much the military take note of VTOL and DCS to put aircrew through non stop intense decision making high pressure scenarios.

Absolutely loved this video, and absolutely love VTOL VR, I remember seeing it back when I first got my Valve Index back in 2020, and I was like "this looks sick af" so I bought it and have loved it ever since. I'm just glad they decided to implement native multiplayer, because using the multiplayer mod (and its launcher) was kind of a hassle.

Great video! What would you recommend a beginner to do or watch to learn how to do this? I only have 3 hours in the game but I love it and want to do missions like this eventually.

Easier isnt always better, SEAD mission with squadron, coordinated attacks, drop laser guided bombs and let our apaches guide them on target, buddy lasing, taking down airport, refueling, ... someting like that is only in DCS and maybe BMS falcon. And best part is that in DCS you wont find many kids and thats awesome.

This really almost feels more like how the game should be played anyway. There is a lot to keep straight when trying to fly and operate the weapon systems at the same time. Having a spotter/gunner and a pilot makes a lot more sense.

Flying with Drewski seems like a crap ton of fun.

I played this with my friend and we learned the game on that exact mission a lovely mix of various targets and engagements

At long range, zoom climb and scan for targets. GPS mark what you can. Scoot and repeat. THEN go for the top gun moves

hey drewski have you considered trying out "Nuclear Option"? its sorta like a flight sim, its free atm because its on playtest, very very early access and its only a gigabyte, very simple controls and it has multiplayer with a damage model maybe rivaling war thunder and maybe even DCS at some points
