Thanku. That’s interesting
Thank you Josh and Mr. Atwell, very interesting set up you have there, living in the North Georgia mountains there are quite a few vineyards here ( I have a small vineyard myself, mainly making jelly from my muscadine grapes) Very much enjoy seeing how others diversify in their land use, I would like to see more of these types of videos -Jerry
Hops are deadly to alpaca. Beautiful plants, cones are very interesting - we looked into growing hops until we found out hops are deadly to our dogs and alpaca... I'd love to visit a farm at some point :-)
You need to go back next year during the harvesting of the hops. This is something you could grow on the Stony Ridge Farm. You could get all the volunteer help you need just by having a farm work day. I would be there.
Very informative, and interesting. I am happy to see the small farmers and their techniques.
Great video. I didn't know hops was such a large plant. More videos on any crop would be great. Can't wait for the series.
I enjoyed this. Like the small operations. Good beer is hard to fine.
Great job on the interview. Keep doing this, very informative about the hopps. Learn something new today.
Nice love to see the little mom & pop places
Hi Josh. Absolutely loved this VLOG. Nice to see a local guy brewing beer
Pretty cool video. Thanks for sharing. I'm going to hop on outta here. See ya on the next one.
very well explained thank you
Tinctured on dried to make into oil for salve is great for pain.
Alexander Keith , was commissioned by the British crown to provide beer for India , He made the most Famous beer of Nova Scotia , Keith's IPA . Still a favorite today !! Craft beers will take over mass produced , way better beer , Hops would be a good cash crop !! Plus you can make your own beer !!!
Love it can't wait to see the farms. God bless.
Wow 😯 I had no idea !! The process is incredible, 🍻 cheers 🙏❤️
I really enjoyed this. It is always fun to learn something new.
I don't drink, but this was cool to see. I'd never seen a hops plant before.

Yep...I don't think ya have to drink to find this interesting...neat to see how things are grown
We got ourselves a single hops plant here on our farm. Your video's got me wonderin' just what I can do with her. Thanks for the information brother
That's one crop that never crossed my mind to grow. Interesting idea though. Great support for small business Josh! KUDOS!
In North Eastern Italy hops are used not only for beer but, also the young leaves and bine to make foods like Frittata. Easy to come by because they grow wild. Ce buna la Fortaia ai Urtisons! Hops' Omelet is so good!
Good stuff! Thanks Josh!!
Josh that's why I love your channel! I'm always learning something new! What an interesting episode!

Wow!!, on soo many levels!
Having a beer while I watch.
Excellent
That was cool
Josh what did it taste like buddy? That's something that you and Mrs Stoney Ridge could raise on your farm. I like that you let him talk and would back off and try to come back into the conversation and yet have control. You didn't talk over him!!

Tempting. Brewing sounds like good fun but I can get a case of Murphy's Stout for $40 and I don't have to sweat at all.
Great video Thank you!
I wonder if you can grow them like scuppernong berries with t post and like a cloths lines so grow them up a line and train them to run horizontal across the lines I think it would be easier to take care of and pick right over your head and staying on the ground
Nice job Josh. Looking forward to more vlogs like this.......

Thanks brotha...more to come soon! Believe it or not...visiting small places like this is a frequent "NO"....I think lots of smaller farm operations find it suspicious that a guy would want to do this for them at no cost....just the cost of learning and educating the world! I get alot of "NO" ....we were gonna visit a commercial honey bee yard next...but I got a "BIG FAT NO!!"
Didn't know that it was related to cannabis . I was talking to strangers the other day about all the cannabis products out and was wondering why they haven't made an cannabis beer . I have been wanting a hops plant for some time now to add a uniqueness to my oriental garden and maybe I would use it to replace cilantro in some of my dishes although I'll continue to use beer for beer batter frying .
I want to see the hop hopper ? Thank you for taking the time to share great channel alway enjoy
That was very interesting, never knew what hops looked like. Maybe someday there will be Stoney Ridge Brewers. I'm sure you would have some interesting names for your beers.
Stoney........love the channel bro
Learned a lot Keep your bees away from those hops! No pollination as the gentleman stated Come to NJ blueberries and cranberries Only MICH I believe beats us on the blu harvest and we are the most densely populated state who knew? I guess the deer are on the wagon LOL
Cool video !
That was just cruel. Lol. I was just there in that town getting loaded for Wisconsin run yesterday morning. Virginia is a pretty state. It's hard driving truck and looking at the scenery. I would have enjoyed going there and picking y'alls brain on hops growing. Pretty cool.
Woooooo Beer! great video :)
Good luck from Bayern (Bavaria)
This is super cool! My dad owns the biggest hop farm in New Jersey and I think that it is great that you did a video on this. You can check out are Facebook at pipers hill farms!
Ive seen vietmanese people buying hops at the brew supply store, they say when you chew on it that it is like a sedative...

Ale does not have hops. The introduction of hops to make beer dates back a thousand years.
Thanks for info trying to grow my own hops But grasshoppers killed my first year Any advice would be apresatedated

Enough to keep the brewery open 4 days a week...not sure exactly how much..they also purchase some hops for different flavors in the brew
👍👍
I know this is a very old video but the IPA story is just that... a story. Brewers in England did not add hops to keep the beer from going bad on the journey to troops in India. Alcohol will do that. English beer historian, Ron Pattinson, has written extensively on the subject and by researching thousands of brewing records including recipe log books dating back to the late 1700's through modern times. Those historic records show that Pale Ale that was sent to India was no more hopped than the Pale Ale consumed domestically. In fact, the name "India Pale Ale" doesn't even come into being until long after the British entered India. Another fact that Ron turned up through brewing shipping records is that Pale Ale was not even the number one export to India... Porter was. Pale Ale was made with the highest quality, most expensive pale malted barely and so the cost of Pale Ale was nearly double that of Porter which was made mostly of lower cost brown malt. Some Pale Ale was sent for the upper class gentry and officers but the vast majority of beer sent to India was consumed by the soldiers who were lower class commoners. Finally another fact that pokes holes in the hops as preservative myth is that brewers in England regularly aged all types of beer for up to a year. Beer intended for consumption soon after fermentation was complete was called "running" beer and the beer intended for aging was called "keeping" beer. Runners were hopped less and keepers were hopped more but not to preserve it... but because the hop character fades over time. So would the beer, both Pale Ale and Porter, being exported abroad have more hops added a brewing time? Yes. But not as a preservative.
U was wondering if they can control those beetles by dusting with diatomaceous earth
Anny info to control grasshoppers
Where can I get one of those hats!
Go ahead and say it pot
I was wondering.( bad typo)
Do dear and bears eat hops
Now how do they pollinate without the male plants??
@StoneyRidgeFarmer
5 жыл бұрын
They don't need to pollinate...that's the part that I took home from this...they produce a flower and the un-polinated flower turns to a "cone" that cone is the hops portion of the brew
Yes! Pour me an IPA!!! 🍻
First!
Second
mmmmmh. Once it hits your lips..... It is so good. Go Beer
I made beer for a while, just for me. I always had some, so I drank too much and started getting gout. I quit making and drinking beer. Gout hurts.

Dear sir His possibility plant growth for india
If you drink beer made from real hops it is more healthy than the other popular beers that have been made from alcohol and chemicals and are not real beer not good to drink. Its hard find real beer these days.

shartne I'm surprised you're having trouble finding "real" beer. There are SO MANY local craft brews on the shelf (hundreds of brands) even in my little town.
@shartne
5 жыл бұрын
I dont drink beer any more. your right. Just saying the most popular beers are not real beer any more, so that is what I meat to say. I wonder if some of them that claim to beer, really are? Who knows for sure? A lot of beverages that claim to beer are just grain alcohol mixed with flavors to taste like real beer they are not really brewed with real hops and fermented.
