You need to go back next year during the harvesting of the hops. This is something you could grow on the Stony Ridge Farm. You could get all the volunteer help you need just by having a farm work day. I would be there.

I get alot of "NO" ....we were gonna visit a commercial honey bee yard next...but I got a "BIG FAT NO!!"

Didn't know that it was related to cannabis . I was talking to strangers the other day about all the cannabis products out and was wondering why they haven't made an cannabis beer . I have been wanting a hops plant for some time now to add a uniqueness to my oriental garden and maybe I would use it to replace cilantro in some of my dishes although I'll continue to use beer for beer batter frying .

I know this is a very old video but the IPA story is just that... a story. Brewers in England did not add hops to keep the beer from going bad on the journey to troops in India. Alcohol will do that. English beer historian, Ron Pattinson, has written extensively on the subject and by researching thousands of brewing records including recipe log books dating back to the late 1700's through modern times. Those historic records show that Pale Ale that was sent to India was no more hopped than the Pale Ale consumed domestically. In fact, the name "India Pale Ale" doesn't even come into being until long after the British entered India. Another fact that Ron turned up through brewing shipping records is that Pale Ale was not even the number one export to India... Porter was. Pale Ale was made with the highest quality, most expensive pale malted barely and so the cost of Pale Ale was nearly double that of Porter which was made mostly of lower cost brown malt. Some Pale Ale was sent for the upper class gentry and officers but the vast majority of beer sent to India was consumed by the soldiers who were lower class commoners. Finally another fact that pokes holes in the hops as preservative myth is that brewers in England regularly aged all types of beer for up to a year. Beer intended for consumption soon after fermentation was complete was called "running" beer and the beer intended for aging was called "keeping" beer. Runners were hopped less and keepers were hopped more but not to preserve it... but because the hop character fades over time. So would the beer, both Pale Ale and Porter, being exported abroad have more hops added a brewing time? Yes. But not as a preservative.

I dont drink beer any more. your right. Just saying the most popular beers are not real beer any more, so that is what I meat to say. I wonder if some of them that claim to beer, really are? Who knows for sure? A lot of beverages that claim to beer are just grain alcohol mixed with flavors to taste like real beer they are not really brewed with real hops and fermented.
