Growing Your Greens shows so many ways to increase yields, and I highly recommend that channel. The biggest factors are soil microbes, minerals and the concentration of organic material in the soil. I recommend burying a fat log at least a foot under your plants, adding the best soil mix you can make with micorrhizae and archaebacteria, mulch heavy over that and then water with a biologic tea mix made from worm tea, fermented clipping tea and mushroom compost tea at planting. Edit: a couple major nutrient notes- kelp contains the exact mineral balance in blood and so is very nutritious, and fine azomite dust provides trace minerals that are extremely depleted. This formula goes for all plants, the soil mix is where you vary for the plant for pH, drainage and all.

Been growing my own hops here in Grant Alabama, which is located 1300ft ASL on a small mountain. I have Crystal which has done the best so far for 3 years, Hallertauer Mittelfreuh (not so good, but often has japanese beetles ) Mt Hood ( Does ok) and my last hop plant is Cascade which has finally produced this year .

Hi Max, I'm Bryan from Missouri I have been watching your channel it's great. I have 600 plants that are 2 years old they already have cones that are almost 2" long on June 7 is that normal. Thanks 👍

Thanx Brian, Most likely has to do with the latitude that you are growing. Less daylight hours makes the plants flower early. I would make sure you are getting sun all day, or possibly pick late blooming varieties or the addition of artificial lights where you may be able to extend the plant’s growth period and/or possibly harvest twice a year ! But two inch cones sounds like a good thing !! Good luck !

Hi. I am not making beer. Are there medicinal or culinary uses for hops?

Prior to it’s use in beer, Hops was originally grown for it’s medicinal values. There are many medicinal uses for hops! Also many food and beauty products that I have purchased including chocolates, pasta, tea, soap, balm, cream, repellent, etc.

I wanna see the proof that organic is better than inorganic. Chemical? Nitrogen is Nitrogen. It's a chemical on the periodic table of elements regardless of the source. same with phosphorus and same with potassium. Your micro nutrients are the same regardless of which method. Not only do you get lower yield with so called organics but the soil and every single other organism using that soil is more stressed as well. I get the whole Monsanto pesticides or fungicides thing even though science hasn't created a damned thing that nature cant do on it own. But when it comes to an issue using the same exact element then is shows just how insane and disingenuous environmentalism has gotten. Can't use nitrogen cause that's bad but you can give it nitrogen cause that's good IS INSANE. It's entirely illogical and free of any sane rationality.

Most farms that are not organic use pesticides, herbicides and fungicides 😬

@@hopsworld8201 There is nothing on the planet that is not from the planet. Science isn't creating anything that nature can nor and is not. it's why they call it discovery and not invention. There is simply too much or not enough and that's the case in nature also. Water is life. Too much or too little is DEADLY. but it's the same with most other things as well. Acids, alkali on and on. Most of this environment natural garbage is simply to charge a premium for a product that is identical or worse in every way. I don't even have an issue with round up. I do have a problem in how much they are using, why they are using it but mostly when they are using it. All of the issues society is having from it's use comes from the three issues i just mentioned not with it's existence.
