I agree, you’re not running for office. 99.9% of your subscribers like your channel for what you’re doing and without any explanation. It’s an escape from the 9-5 grind that most of us reside. Keep doing the same and don’t appease the .1%

Don't waste your precious lifetime on commenting rubbish-rumours. Your core-audience loves the content that you show us regularly and don't care much/at all about other channels commenting on your channel. We all follow you for quite a while and we know you well enough to not wasting our time letting us distract/influence from this rubbish and you might wish doing the same !! But having said that, it's nice that you show you care about our opinion although you don't have to 👍

Having been an avid watcher of this channel since the beginning one thing is clear…. You are a dedicated husband and father who takes his role very seriously. Those that “know” you from watching you know that there is nothing that you need to do to explain yourself other than setting the record straight from people that know nothing of what you stand for. Like you I have found myself fascinated by the lifestyle of Dick Proenneke. I have dreamed of living that way. And following his way of approaching life. One reason I started following your channels. You are blessed to have the means to do what you are doing. You are also blessed with a great wife, and family. And I find your story just as interesting and informative as Dick's. You are a modern Dick Proenneke! You share the parts of your personal life that you wish to share. And the rest is no one else's business! You demonstrate a level of integrity, dedication, and unbelievable work ethic that many are lacking these days. An incredible eye for detail and doing things correctly. There will always be people that wish to spread false information, for whatever reason. Or put down others. You have nothing to prove to anyone. Except yourself. And your higher power/faith. I've watched so many videos of people building their So Called Cabin in the wild, YET THEY ARE NOTHING BUT A GLORIFIED SHED!!! THIS ON THE OTHER HAND IS A REAL CABIN! YOU ARE A FRIGGEN ROCK STAR, AND THIS CABIN IS A TRUE MASTERPIECE! THANKS FOR SHARING

I love how you have created a self reliant life style. What you show and teach is a blessing to many so don’t bother with evil that is always ready to prance. May Lord’s blessings be upon you and your family.

My grandparents had cold root celllar storage under the lean-to room (wood stove provided heat for entire drafty living conditions upstairs) while homesteading in a 1 bedroom trailer (1960) in Willow, Alaska. No hot water & only cold running water inside during non-freezing months. Of course, the outhouse was a necessity -it didn't take long to "do your business" in cold weather. I spent much of my summer childhoods (I am now 72 years young!) with them catching & canning salmon & eating moose. Of course, Gma baked all bread, etc. Thanks for reading my comment 🎉

Willow is a beautiful place. I lived in Eagle River for 8 years, then Anchorage for another 16 years. I drove nearly everywhere you could drive. I loved the drive to Valdez, and Homer too. Fairbanks was fun, the University museum was cool. Nice memories of your grand parents!

What a great video Shawn. It interesting to see your cellar and how you are storing your food for the year. I myself have seen the videos about you and your “supposed wealth and divorce” that you mentioned and I disregarded it as it wasn’t from your own channel. The way some people try to get a financial benefit from your hard work is disgusting. I think there are people who just don’t like anyone else doing well and either try to bring them down or benefit from them. I’m a 76 years old woman in Tasmania and I look forward to your videos every week. I am amazed at how much you get done each week and admire your work ethic. You are living a life many would want and perhaps can’t or don’t have the energy or financial ability to do the same so watching what you are doing is fantastic. I have watched you for several years now from right at the beginning of your last cabin which I thought was great but this cabin is the pinnacle. Your personal life is none of our business. Speaking for myself I do enjoy watching you build things in your gardening and the way you’ve built your place there to store all of your food. It’s really the kind of life that 75% of the people in this world would probably really want to live. I know I was born and raised on a farm and it’s the best life. Once my husband died and I had to trust someone to help run it, I was run into almost bankrupsy, I had a way to bypass that but still I was left without money. Thanks to my sons I was able to work my way out of that hard time. Also Shawn, you don't need to explain any of your personal life to anybody, people belive what they want to anyway. In a marriage things change with time... And your path is not necessarily her path anymore. Most important thing is you can still have a friendship with her and wish her happiness... your daughter will come from time to time to be with you I'm sure. You obviously have something special inside of you that pulls you to live in a more rural way. The forest and mountain life, is a dream for some, but not many. I must also mention, you are very talented at building things. My brother and I ( in our 60's now) always loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting. We lived in Canada for 7 years, and have much respect for folks who actually can do this life style. For us both it's a dream come true.

Shawn, haters are going to hate. I hope you do get rich following your passion. You have provided me with countless hours of education and entertainment. Keep doing what you're doing. It works.

Your last cabin was very successful, which I Veiw, occasionally by revisiting on this channel.. Your last cabin was an inspiration to show what could be done with hard work. At this time. I recall that you said that you had a business before which failed due to the economic slump.. you should be very proud of what you have achieved in the past six years from the very early stages of me viewing your channel I don’t know if you recall I had a broken back and each day I looked in on your live coverage. It was a great comfort to me in on a man who had to make a new start that in someway gave me encouragement for myself to get better, I am now back on my feet . And yourself, you are back on your feet, working out in the forest each day, pushing forward positively and providing a new home for you and your wife. Your latest venture is a great improvement in how you can live off grid I find this channel, most rewarding and inspiring. We’re not so long back. Your first video of this new build was just a field. You should sound proud of what you have achieved in the last six years. The person or persons Who cast vindictive comments about you about your wife and your two girls and family they should be ashamed of themselves as they are lowlife, moronic idiots and have nothing better to do than cast comment and slanders comment about you and your family. These people are the lowest of the low, and you should take that comment with a pinch of salt and forget their vindictive hurtful comments, the reason why they make comment upon your way of life and your successful channel, is because they are jealous of your success. Great video as always. I was glad you addressed those bogus videos about you. I saw them and ignored them also and a slow day I checked one out, I turned that off pretty quickly. I know BS when I see it, wish I would have reported it looking back now though. I don't know if KZread can keep up with the reported videos now, there are so many that should be reported, and some unknowing people likely report videos that shouldn't be singled out just out of spite for their own unknown reasons. Other channels piggybacking off your channel are making them money on your channels success without any work. The drama channels have to depend on clickbait to be interesting. Watching you plant garlic and tossing Callys toy dozens of times , building a dream isn’t for everyone . Thoroughly enjoyed your segment on collecting and making maple syrup was excellent! Hey I give you respect for even considering to just put any foolish rumors to bed. SOme people ignore them totally and the thing is the crazy stories continue to cycle out of control. Yes a chance to have your money stolen by a fraudulent service

That’s the trouble with social media, some people love to try and cause drama. I watch YOUR videos and I don’t pay attention to any haters that just like to try and cause conflict. Stay safe and under God’s care.

People are stuoid and just look for contraversy and problems in other peoples lives so they can feel better about their own. Even if it's not true and they don't do the research to find out that it is false, they love it. I love your channel because you're down to earth and try to be as up front and honest as you can. I completely understand that you HAVE to keep some things private. It is very hard to be in the public eye. I give you props for doing that and not letting the looky-Loos get to you!

Dear Shawn James I fallow you since 22/04/2013 and I like to see your skills on agriculture, construction and your explanation about few and simple things. You don’t have to explain nothing about your personal family you show us one hour a week of your life in forest and I think is sufficient, this is my opinion. The others that say meaningless words about your life don't listen to them I am from Europe I live in Portugal and to me is funny because we do not have such a climate like that with winter full of snow. I leave in a country of sunshine. So it is a pleasure to see how you do to survive in that condition. You must work and collect in summer to live in winter. So you are organized and there are things you have to do if not is gone and winter is coming. Please continue to make your videos lots of people enjoy them.
