It is about time Buck got back in the game. Buck and Case were the big dogs for decades in the 60s and 70s then they were left behind. Welcome back.
Buck seems to have been picking up thier game over the last couple of years.

Buck is amazing, they have just expanded their knives from just hunting and pocket carry. I have the GCK Tanto in FDE and the 110. The GCK is amazing. I’m going to get this one in black

I love high-carbon because of edge retention, but for camping, I’ve been on a rust-resistant kick lately. As a rule, I seem to only camp when it’s raining. In fact, If there’s a drought, people call me...I go camping, and it rains. My stainless Mora is great for this & if it needs a little sharpening in the woods, that’s ok. That said, that’s one good-looking knife!

Chris Con Have you tried Aegis solution called ECDI? It does an amazing job preventing your blades from rust. I have been impressed. Check out the testing Cedric and Ada did on it. It showed well.

High carbon doesn’t mean edge retention. In fact 5160 has similar edge retention to the usual Buck choice (420HC). The difference in alloys is actually about toughness. 5160 is LEAGUES above 420HC when it comes to toughness. There are high carbon alloys that have great edge retention, there are high carbon alloys that have poor edge retention. Same goes for low-carbon alloys. Some have great edge retention and others have bad edge retention. You cannot group a bunch of alloys into “good edge retention” simply based on their carbon content. You must analyze each alloy composition to see how it’s edge will perform. Some stainless steels will have edges that last way longer than most common high carbon steels. Elmax, S35VN, S30V, S110V, REX121, M390, etc.

I have had my gck and talon for over a year now and I love these products. Buck has really redeemed them selves in my mind thank you
I'm an old paratrooper and I usually don't like "tacticool" knives. But I actually really like this one. The Paul Bos heat treatment does it for me.

I just had their tanto delivered today and I’m already in love. Very quality blade and for the price, I didn’t expect what I got. Very, very pleased.
That tip reminds me of many Allen Elishwitz designs, like his collaboration with MOD in the early 2000s. Great design, I have the MOD Nightwing and I really love it. I'm happy to see that tip profile around.
buck in on the right track with this style of knife, keep it up Buck!!.great job as always Aaron;-)
Great review! I grew up using buck knives. Very excited to see that they have a knife like this on the market.
That is One Bad Ass Buck knife !!!!!!!! Thanks for showing this Ground Combat Buck Knife , Aaron. I'm definitely going to check out this Knife !!!!!!!!
Aaron, great review on the Buck GCK. This is a welcomed addition to the Buck line up as they are not known for any tactical look; however, I've had military buddies who carried buck knives on their tactical rigs as they were always dependable upon deployment for various tasks. Throughout my 23 years on world wide duty I carried a Buck 110 folder (custom made scout carry sheath) and still use it to this very day...comprising some 50+ years. I broke the tip once trying to free someone from a vehicle accident in Turkey. I filed it down and lost about a 1/4 inch in blade length. The GCK and its mates are all sold out but I can wait...still have my two Gerber Strongarms, black and coyote, which are incredible.
I have a Buck 112 for many decades it has served me without complaint .
I've always been partial to Buck knives, Love them.
Wow, Buck knocked it out the park with this. If I were in the military and looking for a blade, this would be it without hesitation. It looks like something from a high end maker like Chris Reeve or similar. Really impressed by the clever tip Geo. Usually the weak point but they solved that issue. It's a win on every level. Great blade steel, I would choose it over any 1095 easy. Ceracote is a great blade coat. Handle material and shape looks great. Full tang. Not a huge fan of low saber grinds personally but for its purpose it's a better design than the competition. Stock thickness is ideal. On top of that, a great sheath? Yeah, no brainer. They should sell a boatload. The only knives that have as much as this going for them are vastly more expensive and who wants to fret over using their expensive combat knife?
I normally wold not spend 17:52 watching a knife review but I did this one. First time Ive seen one of yours. Excellent and informative. Ive never held one {The Buck GCK} which is usually my test but I am ordering one now. TY
Great review, and this is an awesome knife from Buck. I'd also like to see Buck go down this road with more fixed blade and folders in this caliber. I bought my Son a Buck Selkirk for Christmas last year, and he loves it. If they would upgrade the Selkirk into this area, I think they would give esee a run for their money. I'll tell you guys this too, Buck has an amazing customer service department. They have really impressed me as a company.
I've been waiting for a REAL review of this knife and you never disappoint. Thanks for the video my Bladed Brother 👍⚔️✝️🇺🇲
Buck has always had a reputation for weak tips. It's good to see that they have addressed that. Fabulous knife!
I've been spending hours and hours browsing combat knives and every single interesting one has a 200$ + price tag but because of this video, I now can get a solid blade with half the price! Thank you!

Just got the tanto version in dec. been carrying it since, great knife, also has a very versatile sheath which is very important to me. I’m from Indiana so there’s a lot of guys who carry fixed blades because of the relaxed knife laws which is nice.
👍Been subscribed to gideons for yrs. My favorite for knife reviews b4 i buy one because he actually puts them through realistic testing. ( we're getting old buddy😊) i appreciate not wasting my time.
I like that knife. I'm glad Buck came out with it given their heat treatment.
You are my number one person I check with on knives when I’m shopping. Love the reviews you do on stuff like this.
I have the black GCK and the color of the blade looks more like graphite and the G10 scales are black. Both are clean looking knifes and I’m glad I got one. Came very sharp and the grind was decent. Great vid 🤙🏽, hope you and your family the best during these times.
Thank you again sir, for a hell of a tutorial! You do an excellent presentation.
My own Buck 119 Special is from their custom shop and also features 5160. There is definitely a difference between it and their regular 119 Specials' 420HC. Good review as always.
I watched the whole video and then went looking online for the knife only to find out it’s been discontinued. What a major bummer I really liked the look of the knife and the the review.
Great review of a cool knife. I just ordered the last one for sale here in Canada. Gray color. It's been sitting in a store collecting dust since they first came out. A few months ago I bought the buck 119 Brahma with the leather grip from the same store. So you can imagine how long that's been sitting on the shelf. Things move a little slower here in Canada sometimes
Always liked buck fixed blades, I have a 119, a frontiersman , and a buck master , looks like I may add another. Thanks for the review.
Great knife 🔪 and as usual an excellent review. I happen to be looking for knife just like this offering from Buck. Loved the handle and blade. Great coloring as well! Thanks
The is a good looking knife and seems like a really good value. Buck is really putting out new interesting designs lately. Great review as always.
Very sturdy, and easy to clean.Excellent product

I’m thinking about ordering the buck GCK now . I just like the style of it and Buck is now making knives in high carbon steel .
Great review as always. 7:00 was so satisfying. I could watch that clean type of batoning all day 😅
Finally, a knife I don’t NEED to buy. You about cleaned me out on TOPS knives.
I am very impressed by this knife, and will be back for more reviews - very informative... Certainly worth a subscribe!
Thanks for the video. Buck knifes are great.
Same here, id love to see more buck knifes it was my first pocket knife as a kid!
Great review. Thanks for all the hard work
Thanks for putting this one on my radar partner!👍
$100? I'm super surprised, I was expecting more than that. That's a heck of deal. Really like that knife.

Get this and the buck Talon and you'll have one heck of a system!!! So a true system would be a folder, buck gck, and Buck Talon!!!
Frist much respect. Your my go to for knives. But I did order 2 Gerber strong arm knives. I wore it for 2 hrs. An was practicing my knife draw on the belt. An the sheath kept coming off my belt.sorry I sent them back. I was going to use for edc. An one on my vest for shooting classes. I just can't lose a knife an WORRY about kids, hurt themselves. I did buy a tops bob black out an am very impressed by the quality. Thank you. Stay healthy... Still looking for 2 good knives.
Over the years, I have been a big Buck fan and I have several in my collection. But, while their classics knives are, well classic, I feel their recent knives have been designed by video gamers. This new Buck is awesome. The aesthetics and functionality is off the charts. Based on your review,, it is definitely on my short list. Thanks for your excellent review.
Buck has just discontinued this knife. Their explanation: As much as we didn't want to, we did have to discontinue the Ground Combat series as we were having too many supply chain issues with getting materials in hand to build these for the already growing list of backorders. Our team had to make the hard decision to drop these to be able to give more clear answers to our dealers and consumers instead of waiting for if/when our materials would ever be delivered to us for us to build out the knives.

As of today 3/1/2022 Buck has them back on their web site. I just bought my second one today.
Thx for so much detail One of the best reviewers
Awesome video! Seems like a very solid field knife and comes in at a great price.
Really good looking blade! Price seems fair also. Thanks Aaron!
I think the design of the handle with that flat part you were talking about is to fill out the hand like a punch bar for when hitting an opponent.
Buck should make a drop point version of this. Gear it right towards survival. Love the size and shape and looks of the handle. 5.5 inch blade in 5160 with that handle man it would be perfect.
I’ve been eyeing up this knife since shot show a few months ago but I haven’t seen any reviews of it yet but after seeing this, I’m definitely going to buy this knife.

I recently got the sniper grey spearpoint version and it took me a lot of looking to find a stockist that wasn't sold out. This is hands down one of my favourite knives I own, a real good jack of trades without sacrificing too much in one area over another.
Nice! Don't know if I want one but it's good to see Buck building new usa made knives. Hopefully a lot of companies will get back to making stuff here.
You didn't talk about this but the added length of the grip/handle look like it would make a good fighting knife in a reverse-grip circumstance.
I just recieved mine today! HIGH QUALITY! GREAT PACKAGE! Amazing 5160 BOS heat treat goodness! Definetly a soilders knife!
I've had a BUCK proto-type combat knife for many years (10 maybe 15). It was for military trials and approval. But for one reason or another it never was. It was produced with a heavy blade, that had no hollow ground, very similar to this knife. The samples I saw were in matt gray, with black handles, but no inset scales, and also in black. I should have bought at least one of each, but only bought the gray. A box, holding a small number of each, supposedly fell of a truck somewhere. I contacted BUCK, and the story was confirmed by them. They told me to go ahead and keep the knife, as it was a dead issue for them. And I have all these years. I've been waiting to see a version come out to the public, and low and behold.....
I have always liked buck I own an original 110 and they have picked up there game I really like this knife and sheath
Great review Arron you are my go to guy for knife testing and review. I like it but for high carbon steel it seems a bit pricey. I own the Gerber strongarm bought it because of your review. I would like to see the Tanto version before adding to my wish list.
I like that it has no jimping. With my Strongarm, I don't find I miss the jimping at all.
Thanks great knife , going to get one ... Thanks for such a great review 💯👀🌲🏞️
I've got a hard choice to make between this buck knife but going to get the Tanto blade. Are the BK 18 wow that's a hard choice. Been waiting for this review. Great knife from a great company
Wow. That is the first Buck knife I have seen in DECADES that looks like something I would take with me to use camping or just outdoors in general.

What a nerd.
Good review, just bought one. I like the 5160 steel. Tuff stuff.
I like this knife. I don't typically use combat style field knives but I am going to pick this one up just because it is a great package at a great price point. I love my Esee's but I can find a use for this Buck.
I love the look of that nice knife and I have three Buck knives and love them and it looks like I might be going to their web site to look more at that knife. If it is American made then I will probably buy one even though I already have more knives than I will ever use. I am retired from the military and that is the kind of knife I would have loved while in there.
I just ordered one. Thanks for the review.
Just picked this guy up for the front of my bug in/out pack ! My work is a vendor so they come at cost and at that price point you can't beat it ! I carry the smaller fixed blade 515 that is a 154cm blade configured boot style and i choose it over my microtech or spyderco and it's a toss up to the benchmade freak at a fraction of the cost .
How about that, Buck finally made a knife that I might like. 😉 Great review, as always. 👍🏻👍🏻
The buck looks nice, but I've already got a Gerber Strongarm and quite happy with it.
That tip is like the Benchmade Osborne knife, good design
i got to feel this in my hand but its on my get list looks wicked i was playing with my dad 110 b4 getting on you tube buck review on new BUCK
Excellent presentation!
Buck and case always been a favorite of mine have many of each but you can keep any tops knife
Since the days of the Buckmaster and the Phrobis Bayonet, I haven't seen anything by Buck that excited me. I and many others wished Buck would bring back those knives. I had both versions of the Buckmaster. The sheath was great in that you could buy different sized pockets to place on the sheath. The longer pocket was perfect for holding a Freedom Arms or North American Arms boot pistol. You could put a diamond sharpening stone in the other pocket and have room in the knife handle for other survival goodies. As a throwing knife could either stick whatever you were throwing at or knock it out, even small game. They really had some good things going, back in those days. The stainless steel that they used was like no other as far as tempering went. I wished I had them to this very day, someone thieved mine. I would love to buy them in mint condition if anyone has any for sale reasonably. I also love Becker and have nearly a complete set minus about five knives. Later !
That handle looks 3D printed! This knife is on my list great review as always
Hey Thank you for this information and Great Video 😎🤙
Nice vid. If you like the field knife you will love the Talon.
Buck has always made decent blades. I heavily used one in the early 70's. No complaints cause still have that 110. But, I use a Cold Steal $35.00 SRK, (I think), still in my pack in the trunk. Stays sharp, has batoned a zillion small logs, most of the finish is gone, as is the origional owner who gave it to me well used in 2004. Miss my friend but that knife means more now than ever!
I have the Ron Hood Buck Thug and it's an awesome knife years
Watching your videos has become a habit, and your review are really awesome

Remember when everyone complained about the Buck set with redblades and walnut dymondwood? It had a froe and clip point knife in 5160.
Was waiting for this review. I see myself picking this up soon, just need to slowly introduce my new firearms to my wife
I haven’t bought a Buck knife for years, but this looks good. I feel like Buck is a trustworthy maker.

Thx just ordered this
Looks like a really good knife from Buck. I bought a Tops Hazen Legion a while ago that fills that tactical/field knife role , so I'll pass on this for know. I bought the Tops Legion after seeing it reviewed here. 5160 is a good carbon steel for sure , and Buck is coming out with great knives lately.
The buck 124 is my shtf , dinosaur hunting , bear hunting knife of choice .
Sold out Everywhere! I guess I will have to wait for this one.
Reminds me of the Camillus CQB-1 in 154CM

EXCACTLY !
Legit impressed with this knife. First Buck to do that in a long time! Last Buck that caught my eye was the Ron Hood designed Hoodlum. Buck nailed it with everything survivalists want here. I hope they keep making these types of knives (good steel/micarta scales/pals webbing, etc.) with great sheaths. Speaking of which, thinking of buying one just for the sheath and making my own kydex for my other knives as the nylon/molle on this knife is so nice. It reminds me of ESEE’s amazing sheaths.
Just got the 3V steel version . So amazing
Nice review,very well done!
Man, such a nice new Buck knife!!!,
the new buck fixed blades are sick!
Thank's bro.sweet knife.I'm getting one.
I wish more manufacturers would do full wraparound handles. Here In Sweden non rubber grip handles tend to freeze to your hand 🥶
A mini version of this knife would awesome
Excellent. Thank you, Dr. Benton Quest. (Uncanny Resemblance) Have a safe Memorial Day !
I still use an original Becker BK-7 knife. I told my kids years ago BK stood for BearKiller. 😛 I also have my Buck 110 from my Army days in the early 70s.
This is what I EXPECT from Buck. This is what they need to do.
Great vid, as always!
