Really well done guide. My number one Grim Dawn tip would be to max your skills. That's how you do damage on Veteran. It's not uncommon for me to put 10 points into mastery and 30+ into skills early on. Bristly Fur and Frozen Heart keep my characters alive.

Why are you playing on Veteran 😂 It's faster to clear Normal and then switch to Elite or Ultimate. The value of increasing the mastery bar should not be underestimated, for increasing stats (all buffed by 1.2), unlocking higher tier skills, and meeting level-appropriate gear requirements. That said you probably _should_ avoid spreading your points too thin across different skills, and avoid unlocking a second Mastery for a while (somewhere between level 20 and 40, depending on build).

ue, lookmat the resistances as well. Augments help a Lot, and change them if equipment adds enough.

I just bought it yesterday and am on level ten..I went back to steam and bought all the dlc..this game so far has been amazing

Oh yeah grim dawn is a great game, wait until you start to see epic gear drop, builds get crazy around that point, the dlc has some really good content too

@@aesh78 its such a fun game. have over a hundred hours easily. many many builds as well. I love the duel wielding pistols myself.

Another beginner tip: before you head out onto the world by crossing the bridge, right before the bridge theres a lore note on the left side wall. You can actually grab it from the exit of the bridge, without needing to climb up. Thatll give you a good amount of xp, basically starting the game at level 2

one of my favourite games, so many options. my basic tip is decide up front what you want to build, and stick to it. focus is key, and if you want to use ither specific skills, build another character;-) Devotions need to be according to your character. just going random will not help. focus on 1 or 2 damage type, like fire/chaos or Aether, or lightning. Or like my favorite, reflection, blocking and health, build a warder (soldier shaman) and try, lots of fun qhen your enemies destroy themselves

Well presented video, I did a good amount of search and only found this video to be the most helpful. Other videos where show casing builds but not talking about key points that are needed in better understanding the game. Huge thx for this guide 💯✌

I played it years ago ! Starting now and fresh with all dlcs ! Hype to play it ! I would love to see a Switch Version

It's been sitting in my Steam library for like 4 years, and I finally started it a few days ago. It's so, so good. I'm quite the Titan Quest veteran, and it feels really comfy slipping back into this system. Ironically, although this game is in a dying world, it feels like a much livelier one than TQ. Just really, really enjoying it so far.

If you want a greater challenge while making a new character, set the difficulty to Veteran. If you want to level faster, keep it on Normal. The 10% increase to xp gained isn't good enough for the increase in time it takes to clear mobs/bosses while on veteran. It is however a good indicator of whether your current build is good enough to move to Elite or Ultimate.

Yeah very good point my guy, I used to always do veteran just so my guy was better prepared for the next difficulty until I understood the game and character building better

Best tip, #2 ypu can reset devitions and skills and with potions stats. This allows you to i.e. lower points in certain skills when equipment adds a lot. Some skills are pointless over the max, or even less. i.e. automatic attacks with default attacks climb to max 20% chance at 6 Points. Beyond that it just adds some damage(which you need to divide byn5 and timeouts). So ideally you keep them at 6, and spend your points elsewhere. if you get gear that adds x points, totalling the skill at lets say 9, you can subtract 3 points. This way your build becomes a Lot more efficient.

If you zoom out max at the Start and first leave Devils crossing you will see a note inside devil crossing. If you stand In line with it between the barrel and box at the Start of the bridge as close as you can to it, you can take the note, use it kill a couple mosters and you are level 2. Pick what your 2 classes will be before you pick your first one and pick based on which one has the strongest first ability. Otherwise it can be tedious. Great vid 👍 up.

This game has amazing theory crafting but somehow I always end up with a character using a two handed melee in the end haha

I always choose to play on Veteran, not because of the exp increase or the loot, but because the more harder gameplay made the transition from Veteran to Elite easier, this is even more evident when playing Hardcore

@@manarith8081 Hardcore is fun in my opinion but, beware of that unbeatable monster that had killed all my hardcore characters: Overconfidence It's so sneaky that it stroke me down while facing elites I had easily killed several times before

4:18 Elite only reduces the top row of resistances (Elemental, Acid/Poison, Pierce) by 25%. Ultimate reduces all resistances by an additional 25% (so Chaos, Aether, etc. will only be reduced by 25% in total). (I'm not sure but I suspect that neither reduces Physical Resistance).

Ah that’s funny, I always thought it was as the content creator said, and I took my first character into elite last night, I was very nervous about my aether(?) resist as I had neglected resists overall but that one was very low and I struggled mightily through malmouth. I’m like oh boy elite is gonna drop it to nothing. I was so hyper focused on seeing that zero resist that when I saw it was unchanged I was very confused. I didn’t even notice that my top row of resists would have dropped. 🤦‍♂️

Number 0 - wait until they end to make all DLCs and only then start to play.

I didn't know that you can search specific stat in the devotion tab😅😢 Thank you immensily for this info. I'm currently going pure fire/burn two handed demolisionist my first play throught, but i still didn't add point into inquisitor because it doesn't suit me at all😢 maybe I will ditch blacwater cocktail to add point into defensive skills in inquisitor to max out word of renewal path?

Hey no problem! absolutely, going for that word of renewal is a good idea, make sure to pick up one of those exclusive skills at the end of the inquisitor tree as well :)

Seems cool, tried it on "elite" difficulty first try and it was overly easy for the first 20 level. Kind of a Diablo 2 easy mode just perma AA and moving, hopefully it get harder later on.

It's definitely a great arpg, and for sure it does get more difficult, especially some of the bosses if you don't know the abilities, the dodge roll ability they added also made things alot easier

@@manarith8081 Odd then, i finished the Loghorrean boss on veteran without any problem, i died maybe 3 times for the whole game (including one death from terrain glitch/bug being stuck in aether terrain and not being able to move). Maybe its my build of experience of D2 but it was just perma AA and move on a Shaman/soldier (warder) easy build (>10kdmg primal strike (+ tsunami); 50% lifesteal, 10k HP, etc). And i didnt even had great items or devotion build (random picking until i found how to undo) It was overly easy and straighforward while not playing on normal difficulty. I hope that ultimate will at least bring a bit of challenge

If you're referring to the three dots above your level, yeah. The red one's for health potions, the green's for stamina, and the grey one in the middle is your dodge skill, just to show the cooldown.

This is a very well-balanced arpg.

@@manarith8081 1 of my favorite parts of this game is that it does one of the best jobs at forcing you into prioritizing defence over dps. The multi-layer progression system with the ability to run with 2 masteries gives this game an awesome amount of depth and replayability.

it's still heavy on physique attribute, and hard to do a full cunning/spirit build.

I assume you are talking about arcanist, those 2 would make you a spellbinder, your best bet would be to go pure Aether damage and use the Aether ray skill in the arcanist tree

Yes by completing the main story you will unlock the next difficulty, no need to do the DLC to achieve this though FYI

Technically as of 1.2 you can get to level 100 in normal if you want since now it scales better, also you can skip straight from normal to ultimate if your character is strong enough. And with the Forgotten Gods expansion you can buy an item that lets your next character unlock ultimate difficult immediately, as long as you've beaten it once already with any character

Wish it was simpler. 😢

it might not be the most simple but it isn't the most difficult either, strikes a good balance if comparing to D4 and POE

One tip that I would give to any beginner player is to level up ONE character to level 100. You need to do it all once with one character. What I mean is finishing the game in normal, elite, and ultimate. You will get revered with all factions, and you will have access to experience and reputation boosters, which will make life so much easier for future builds. A typical newbie mistake is to start a lot of builds before reaching the endgame. Some people discover this when they have hundreds of hours played.
