Take a look at the 6118t players edition. Same specs the falcon at about half the price and still made in Japan. Unless you have to have the gold hardware, binding, and the falcon head stock.

I bought this guitar in midnight sapphire. It's the best guitar I have ever played. Zero buyer's remorse, despite the steep price tag. It can be clean and sparkly, warm, ballsy -- it can do everything really well. The trons just sound great. Very impressed with it.

Very tight Dagon! Beautiful Gretsch Falcon! For whatever reason Gretsch sometimes has a tendency to be over looked by many players. It seems only after they pick one up and play it for the first time do I hear comments like: “Wow what a fabulous guitar” etc. You sound great on that Big bad to the bone White Falcon! Nothing, absolutely nothing sounds like a good Gretsch.

These kind of guitars are much more versatile than one would think. Malcolm Young played a White Falcon for a time. You can see that in the Hells Bells video. Ted Nugent usually plays a Gibson Byrdland which is a hollowbody guitar as well. And of course Neil Young on his best album Harvest. Personally I have an Ibanez single cut hollowbody guitar with a Bigsby style system that I like very much.

Lars Focken: they are very versatile, but for Metal it falls short. all the players you mentioned, they all made changes to there Gretsch to give them what there looking for. Malcolm went with a Gretsch because the Gibson Les Paul he had gave him problems, a Les Paul is known for high gain, but that comes being from being a solid body with humbuckers which adds to the weight. Gretsch typically are very hollow, which makes them alot lighter than a Gibson, but doing so you give up some of that high gain you'd normally get with a Les Paul. on the flipside a Gretsch has a better clean sound than a Les Paul, so for rock, blues, country, it's a good fit, but for hard rock or metal, you have to make a few changes. in Malcolm's i believe his had P-90's as P-90's typically have higher gain than a regular humbuckers. Ted Nugent is a one hit wonder, but his music is not as heavy as AC/DC in my opinion. Neil Young is just normal rock, so you can play a Gretsch with his music easy.

@@Jeymez think u might literally be retarded… whoever is buying or looking at smthg like this isnt looking for metal. Btw neil young was pushing more gain back in the day than almost any other guitar player and could easily be considered one of the first higher gain players (it wouldnt be until grunge that his sound would start to be more common place). Hollow-bodies in general are not what youre looking for metal idk why youre even bringing that up tbh its acc dumb to me. But even then gretsch came up with bracing in the late 50’s (probably inspired by the 335) that essentially unified the front and back getting them to resonate in synch reducing feedback which is why gretsch guitars can push gain like a 60’s-70’s sound lp. Les pauls at high gain are also terrible guitars bc its too much low end and they get muddy w out a ts to tighten it up so they are also bad high gain guitars. The strat is easily the first high gain design bc its bridge pickup can channel all the gain without getting muddy which means u can push more through it than an lp.

Man, every time I hear a good guitarist play a Gretch, I think, "that sounds fantastic!" and I go buy one. Then I get it home and it sounds like cats in heat played through auto tune. This doesn't happen with any other kind of guitar. I just can't find the magic with filtertron style pickups.

@@robertvance1873 i don't know if his had those for sure, his sound is certainly unique. i know P-90's give more of a punch than Humbuckers, but he probably had some kinda pedal that's no longer available. whatever he did to get his sound, it becomes trademarked and licensed. so it's virtually impossible to emulate his sound, the only thing we can do is learn his songs. wah pedals and a tube screamer with the gain set to medium can give you some interesting results, but i don't know what kinda amp he used, that'll make a difference.

now this is a piece of art, but if your new to Gretsch which im sure alot of you are, this is a thing of beauty. ME, it plays as good as it looks ladies and gentlemen. id love to own one, but i don't have 3 grand sitting around. if i did nothing would stop me from buying it, but i do have a nice Gretsch at home that's very good for the price that i play alot. that being said this guitar is not for heavy metal, you can play rock, blues, rockabilly, country, funk, but just not a good fit for metal guys, just being honest. i know some people might bring up a few names, Malcom Young from AC/DC, but his was set up for there style of music which is hard rock. there studio albums were mostly recorded with a Les Paul and SG. it was a little later Malcolm used a Gretsch, but ideally the pickups in a Gretsch are designed differently, because most are hollow, a Les Paul is a solid body which adds to the high gain you get in hard rock and metal. but the downside is the weight puts people off, Gretsch are lighter despite the size you see, but that lighter weight makes it better suited for rock and country rock. for metal, you'd have to make a few changes on it. still even if your a metal guy, i wouldn't buy this guitar for that.
