I cannot praise enough Sam Kiszka's organ playing. While he is typically playing bass guitar, he demonstrates a mastery of the Hammond Organ, including the use of the bass pedals, that unparalleled by most modern musicians. As a former organist, I can tell you that playing pedals in addition to the two manuals adds a level of difficulty that most musicians will never experience. Phenomenal!

Greta Van Fleet are really amazing. At the very first second you hear that voice and you know exactly who is singing. That's a very rare thing in todays mainstream music industry and a very high grade to this very awesome band. Also, a lot of people complain about them being a copy of Led Zeppelin, but I love that we have a newer band that reminds me of the music I grew up with. These guys are awesome. It's always a shame people have shut the door on them after hearing their earlier tunes. These guys are growing up and becoming more experienced. I feel they deserve a lot more credit than a "zepp" rip off. All popular music is a rip off or evolution of someone else. These guys were in the light as they were finding themselves. Now that they have, I don't even think of the zeppelin bits anymore. Its Greta bits now.

@DompStomp Excellently said! What the haters fail to acknowledge is that "Black Smoke Rising" and "From the Fires" contained songs that were likely written (or at least in the oven) when these guys were not even 20 years old. It takes time to grow into your musicianship and especially song writing. I really hate the internet sometimes due to the keyboard warriors spewing their venom. I for one cannot wait to see these guys coming into their own! I have my vinyl of Starcatcher pre-ordered and can't wait to have a Yuengling (or 6😛) and put on the headphones and drift away!🤘

At the ripe young age of 88, Gretna was on hand to tap the keg at the band's album release party nearly 5 years ago. The band and the community that supports them are rather extraordinary!! Hi sunshine. I am so happy you are doing Greta Van Fleet. I have been a fan of theirs since the beginning. They are from Frankenmuth in mid-Michigan. I live just south of them. I saw them locally when they only had like 7 songs and when they finally went to Detroit they were told, Go home write more songs and we'll see. I had to laugh when you thought they were girls. The name came from an older lady that lives in the same town. Keep Listening. I love love love what you do. Your reactions are just so wonderful and I enjoy them so very much. YOu are wonderful. I found you when you were doing Led Zeppelin songs. That is MY band. I will be 70 this year and I was there when LZ came out. They stopped me in my tracks. I thought, Who is that, and What is that I hear. For me, I think LZ changed Music history. Even today they are still influencing bands and music. everywhere. I feel I grew up in the greatest time of music history. And to think that the 3 greatest guitarists came from the same band. The Yardbirds. And No, I have not forgotten Randy Roads. I still cry when I think of him and what he would have done if he had lived a longer life. Thank you again for what you do. If I may, I love you. I've been a music nut all my life. I even listened to Opera when I was in junior high school. I was hungry for music of all kinds. But R&R is my life. I hope you never stop. Me, I still listen to LZ every day of my life. I can not get enough of them. And I just adore your critics of music. Oh, and the singer for GVF, him and his brother guitar player are twins, and the bass player is a brother too, Younger. He said, He never knew he could sing. And the way he found out was, they asked who is the loudest, and he won. Said he had to sing loud to be heard over the band. lol Good ole, Gibson SG's and a Fender Twin Reverb, and a stack of 12-inch speakers. lol

I saw these live in Manchester, UK last year and they were so positive and happy vibes. They we're handing out roses to people all through the show and had incense burning with the subtle smell of weed from the crowd. I said to my girlfriend it's like what I'd imagine a scene from the 60's would be like. Great band and great live. I'd highly recommend Black smoke rising and Broken bells. Any more from them really, only as I want you to have more GVF in your playlist other than two! Great video Elizabeth, really enjoyed it!

So glad you've found and are enjoying Greta Van Fleet! "Age of Man," "Light My Love," and "Weight of Dreams" are all great examples of Josh's range and vocal strength. I just saw them live, and towards the end of the set list when they played "Weight of Dreams," I was floored that Josh didn't skimp on the long holds as the song crescendoed. After the whole concert, he still had gas in the tank.

This was recorded during covid lockdown, they were working stuff out a bit. You should hear them now that they've been on tour for two years now (coming to a close tonight). They're a well oiled machine now. The yodeling is a regular feature of Josh's singing, and he's often what I call "fangs out" when he needs to do so, no fear whatsoever. And he does this every. Single. Night. He's absolutely stunning to watch. Listen to him not come up for air in The Weight Of Dreams lol There's Broken Bells (candlelight sessions), Built By Nations, Safari Song, Age Of Man, Flower Power, Lover Leaver Taker Believer (NOT just Lover Leaver, there's a difference. Find the studio version, live is never under 20 minutes) Edge Of Darkness, Tears Of Rain, and like I've said before, vocally Age Of Machine is my favorite. The wail at the beginning is exquisite. Welcome to the Peaceful Army, we're happy to have you! Edit: I forgot to mention When The Curtain Falls 😳

I saw an interview with Josh where the interviewer asked him to give some advice to his fans. His advice was "Fuck fear. Live your legend through the intelligence of love." I think he & his bandmates follow this advice. I think they are incredible & I get irritated when I hear people comparing them to other bands. If you do a deep dive, you will find that these guys are genuinely "their own" band. If they have a similar sound, it is completely unintentional.

One more thing, holding down a bunch of keys on the lower section of a Hammond Organ is how you get the Hammond Growl - it sounds somewhat like a motorcycle revving. Check out the original Styx II recording of Lady and you will hear Dennis doing that Hammond growl that is missing from the live or remake. Jon Lord in Deep Purple did that regularly - it was very clear in Hush.
