I love how everyone remembers the OG wimpy kid trilogy fondly. Those movies were great. The casting, how they transformed some characters. It was great to watch them as a kid.

Fun fact: Both actors who have played Frank Heffley (Steve Zahn and Tom Everett Scott) were in a movie called “That Thing You Do” together in the 90s. It’s kinda crazy they both ended up playing the same character

The movies are so much better than the books because all the characters experience so much character development, and there are so many heartwarming scenes like Greg and Roderick bonding in Roderick Rules, or Greg’s Dad forgiving Greg in Dog Days. But in the books all the characters are so deeply flawed it’s scary. Greg was an absolute sociopath, Manny was capable of murder, and Greg’s dad was always super depressed
