Our expectations on looks were just set too high on the first Rodrick😭😭

It’s so funny that in both of the wimpy kid movies the dads are both from a movie called “That thing you do” and the comparison between them shows in both movies between their acting and personalities. It’s really cool actually and a fun little thing I picked up :)

I feel like if they kept the same cast it would have worked. I mean in the fact that Greg is pretty much an adult but is still treated like a kid (which would fit his parents very well) and rodrick still looks young enough to play his role

With the new movie it just feels like there wasn’t the same amount of love put into it. I read the movie diary books for the wimpy kid movies religiously when I was little and in the books it explains just how much effort went into making the heffley’s feel like a real family and making Greg feel like a real kid even down to his clothes and haircut. The new movie is missing that detail and care, the new heffley’s don’t feel like a real family and more like their just reading their lines and Greg doesn’t feel like a real kid, he feels like what boomers think gen z and gen z culture is.

In the old DOAWK, rodrick seemed as if he hated his family but also really loved them and seemed like a normal mean, aggressive teenager even if Gregory snitches but in the 2017 DOAWK Roderick just straight forward says they hate them just because there taking away his PHONE, even the old rodrick says sorry to his mom when he says something mean to his mom when she is grounding him!

In the original 3, the cast actually hung out together before filming, and in this one it just seems like they picked up some random people off of Craigslist

i'm at a weird age where these coming out feels relatively recent to me, so it's hilarious to hear this silly movie series be so highly revered. but the cast was definitely off in the newest movie. i love seeing what younger generations end up really loving and having as defining moments in their childhood.

Anyone else rewatching this video? 😅 This is probably the third time I've watched this video since it first was uploaded... Something about this is very relaxing, ig the nostalgia I have for the first few movies also the laugh I get at the memes. I've never seen the new movie but it definitely makes me appreciate the old ones even more Also Roderick rules is forever my favorite it came out when I was a sophomore in highschool and my little brother was in middle school so it was kinda cool watching it with my lil bro cuz at the time we were just like the characters in the movie
