This is the beauty of Tom Jones as an artist. He first released this song in 1967 and he has sung it thousands of times, he still sings it with the passion and emotion of a first performance. He arguably actually sings it better today than he originally did in my humble opinion.

I totally understand. I recently lost my wife. I live in the states now, but family are buying me a ticket to go home. To try and get some peace and peace. I had always hoped I would go first. And told my wife to have this played for me.

Saw first show of Tom Jones in London in 1967. Young Tom Jones Had such a voice and stage presence that fans could not have enough.

Tom Jones is one of the worlds absolute best singers. I had his albums and just passed them on 4 years ago. I LOVE "Green, Green Grass of Home". I just passed it on to my son about a month ago. Every time I hear this song I’m reminded of a 19:year old Marine who served with my older brother in the Vietnam conflict. This song came out at that time,my brother would send newspapers from what area he was serving in that newspaper would be the listed the kia’s and mia’s , He circled the name of one of his buddies who was in boot camp with him at MCRD in San Diego,this young man would come to our house several times ,as did many of his buddies ,but our family grew quite close to this sweet quiet unassuming boy. My mother kept in touch with all of his buddies families even after boot camp,so she wrote to the mother of the bit whose name my brother had circled . After they spoke she said that it was indeed her son ,what my mother would receive in the mail a few days later I will never forget . It was a packet of newspaper clippings of his funeral services and a letter from his C.O. I’m now 71 I will never forget what i read that day. His C.O. said that her son was hit by a sniper while on patrol and died instantly,but the other thing that is burned in my memory is a statement he made snout her son,while on patrol in one area he picked up a small Vietnamese child while on patrol and carried them for quite some time. I dedicate this song to Cpl. Larry Nehring USMC and to all our military who served in every war from the beginning of time .

I am nearly 75 and still get goosebumps. Memories are floating back, I am young again and enjoying life Don't get it wrong, I still enjoy life, but different. I am happy , I was born at that time and lived the music.

I remember it as if it were yesterday. I was getting ready to get married, on the evening of 26th December 1968. The radio was playing this song, "Green Green Grass of Home". I remember my father telling me to hurry up as the car to take us to Church was waiting for us. Oh, the good old days of really good music; Oh how I miss such angelic songs!

Lagu ini sering saya nyanyikan di tempat Karaoke Hotel Abadi di Jambi.....ketika pertama saya kerja di Jambi tahun 1992.....waktu itu......memang saya pertama kali merantau, jadi merasa jauh dari rumah dan keluarga.......saya menyanyikan lagu ini sambil mengingat dan membayangkan keluarga di Jakarta......sekarang umur saya sudah 56 tahun.....saya masih suka menikmati dan menyanyikan lagu ini.....sambil menerawang masa lalu.....ada rasa sedih, rindu, kangen dan sepi...

Late Ton Jones was the one who conceived the twist on Romeo and Juliet with composer, John Donald Robb. He died on the 11th of August of cancer in his home in Sharon.
