See I think I know why. Green day havnt hidden in interviews that they're gonna be happy to be out of contract from Warner Bros after this album. And the NHL endorsement is a little overkill for green day so I think he swore on purpose. He's usually pretty good at respecting the no swear rule on tv

I just wanna enlighten everyone on why his voice may not sound “on point” or sound drunk or whatever reason they’re throwing out there. Notice how when he started Basket Case and there was awful echo and it went away? The sound engineer had to cut off any other live microphones other than the close mics to each drum, amp, or Billie himself. When you get pure sound isolation on a directional microphone without any sort of room mics, it’s gonna sound inconstant and you’ll hear every single detail wether it’s distance change from his mouth to the mic, sounding out of key, etc. that’s what reverb from room mics kind of mask. And yes, the man is getting old. He was like 22 when he recorded Basket Case and was 32 when he recorded American Idiot and I’m sure smoking, drinking, and drugs have deteriorated his vocal chords over the last 30 years. It is what it is. Just thought I would give everyone that info so they know why it may sound off.

it's true that billie isnt 22 anymore. but you can clearly hear him scream more than usual. I'm pretty sure he had a cold or something. Nothing to worry about. They are still amazing live. This one wasn't vocally the best.

I don't think it's the sound engineers fault but more of that the indoor ice rink has terrible acoustics and in the start of basket case you can hear a lot of echo and the engineer had to cut the audiences mics which makes it sound weird.

One of the greatest live bands ever. See them if you haven't yet. Always an amazing time.

Nope. The first time Trè did that Crash Cymbal part since 2004 was back in September 2019 on the Howard Stern Show. You can look it up here. At the end of every Chours...he does that Crash Cymbal part.

@@kakah102 idk why either. Tbh, i believe Trè liked how the consistent 16th notes sounded during the chours before the drum fill. Then last year, maybe he realized that he wasnt playing it right all these years, and switched it back to the Album version.

What stands out here is over 30 years of being in the same band and you can see frequently the smiles from the guys. They will always love being Green Day that is one reason for their rare longevity. My favourite band and I don't know what my life would be like without them....

yea that’s called a vocal release, it’s really useful, and you’ll often hear singers do them like mid song to keep their voices sounding good throughout the song if it’s a hard one to sing

If you're talking about Ready Aim Fire, its because they played it twice. People were confused, it was super cold, and a good portion of the people there were just hockey fans stopping by to see what was happening since it was a free show. I don't think they wanted to play it a second time and when they did, the energy died down for sure.

Michael Billig in the beginning of basket case he started off super rocky on the vocals that probably made him nervous for a sec and forget the lyrics lol, but after that he completely brought it back and did a great job. happens

@@GreenDay1981 actually no. When you play something for countless times your brain kind of goes into autopilot. Sometimes you can do something mindlessly and your brain starts to freak out on you suddenly start other thinking it
