I was at this show! Dude really did fucking kill it. Before the video starts, I guess the kid was like right in front of Billie, I was like 5-6 people from the rail, holding a sign saying "I can play every note on Dookie." Billie said "Do you really know every note to that album?" apparently he said yes cause then he said "Then get your ass up here." Never seen someone hop the railing so fast in my life Haha. Fucking killer show

I love realizing that this kid has great stage awareness and presence, he's not in the front the whole time or always trying to be the center of attention. He knows what he's doing, and being a stranger, he's interacting with everyone on stage, he even looks back to the drummer and the keyboard player to interact with them too. He steps back, forward, and is very fluid. Proud of him!

Green Day is the reason I ever picked up a guitar. A kid growing up bored as hell in a small town and I can honestly say if not for Green Day I wouldnt have started playing. At least not as early as I did.

@gib59er56 we had just been overwhelmed with new wave . After growing up with the original classics. RHCP are older than us! But Green Day is a good band. And I do like his lyrics. Just isn't my preference. They are original , very much so. But again I say. Billy is the Epitome me of the bad boy rocker which makes him a legend

This kinda stuff is so cool. Not many famous musicians are grounded like this and truly care about their fans. Very cool!

My son knows almost every Greenday song on guitar (he's 16). I play it on drums while he plays guitar. I grew up listening and playing Greenday whrn I was a teenager. It's such a proud moment when we get to share moments like these with our kids. I'd love to see him jamming with them one day. If not I'm still glad i get to see him enjoy music like i do.

5 years ago I went to a festival in Mexico where Green Day played at the end. They did the same thing with 2 fans, couldn't pull it out because one of them sucked, but they kept their energy and it was an awesome show. Best concert ever!

Randomly got recommended this and I was there! I was on my friend's shoulders trying to get picked to play and Billie Joe started the motion to point at me and turned at the last second to pick this dude lol. If anyone who was at this show remembers condom balloons floating around the crowd, that was us!

I was at this concert- Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. I've been to a lot of concerts, hell that was the 5th time I've seen Green Day. First time I got to see them in a club type setting. It was by far and away the best concert I've ever been to. Crazy energy from start to finish. I can't even put it into words.

I was at their show in Copenhagen, June 7th 2022. Billie Joe got two fans on stage. First, a guy to sing along. Then, a girl to play second guitar. And he gave that guitar to her, as a present. It was AWESOME.

Rock bands, no matter what type of rock, may sing about being badasses who don't give a damn about anyone's feelings but they're always the nicest people you'll ever meet. In the immortal words of Bryan Johnson: "Rock N Roll will never die!" We should always love each other no matter how much we might not get along. LONG LIVE ROCK N ROLL!!

I was at this show. When Billie brought Blue out, he said, "Let me tell you guys a story. When I was 10 years old, my mother was working a lot of hours at a diner. What an amazing band. You could see the smile on the faces of everyone in Green Day when the kid pulled off the guitar solo.

Notice how he started off playing the song just a little too fast and slowed down with the drums. He has talent.

This was the best part of the show. This kid couldn't have done it any better. Glad I got to see it live!

That half second before he started playing, Billie Joe was like "did I just make a mistake?!" And then the relief and pure joy. This was awesome.

He got to play Blue ;-: Billie must’ve trusted him. Paid off though, guy was a natural! :D

Katie Is boring I mean, he might be a good guitarist but he’s playing Green Day. Love Green Day, know almost the entire Dookie album on guitar, but it’s not hard. Green Days’s stuff isn’t technical at all, it’s just super simple power chords. Which sound hard, but power chords are probably the easiest thing on guitar.

That kid aced it, to be that lucky and that good of a player and even performer on stage, that must have been a dream.

I have to say this is an incredible moment

@@walexander8378 nah it wasn’t rehearsed. Green day always invite ppl on stage to play the guitar, and usually the ones close to the stage are pretty big fans. Nobody queues that long for a band they’re so/so on

jp jonesh Yeah, he’s just a guy. Same species as me and you. You say rock star as if it’s some advanced race or something. He is famous, yes, but at the end of the day, he shits and eats just like the rest of us. He’d tell you the same. He gets sad, he gets happy, he gets mad, when he hasn’t eaten he gets hungry. Fame doesn’t mean anything except the fact that you may be rich and people know who you are.

I have a whole new respect for Green Day! Pearl Jam is my favorite band, so if Eddie were to pull me up on stage I’d be too nervous, star struck and excited beyond words! I’d cry too. So this dude is an epic legend!

Not my generation of music (I'm 55) but I always loved Green Day . Class act all the way! Good job to the kid who played guitar.

So, this is easily one of THE coolest things I've ever seen on KZread. I can't even imagine what it must've been like for that kid. Obviously loves Green Day. Manages to actually get up on stage during the show and then gets handed Billy Joe's guitar, which he uses to abso-fucking-lutely nail it in front of a live audience who are absolutely losing their shit at this point because of what's happening. Thanks so much for posting this...

You should check the ‘Kiss guy’ at Foo Fughter’s gig.

It's such an enviable experience..

He even knows how to play the live version with the hammer-ons. It's great to see the look of joy and pride on the band's faces to see that the crowd knows how to play their songs.

That is the most perverse and unrealistic dream of any fan of any band, and this kid just fucking destroyed it. Good for him, that will stick with him till the day he dies.

At 15 these guys were my bread and butter. 24 hours on headphones. Now I’m 39 and I’m like “You damn genius,thx for this!”

Billie Joe said in an interview I was watching that he doesn’t like calling his fans ‘fans’ because it makes it sound like the band is superior to them. He prefers to call them his ‘peeps’. 💚 🎸

god, i love this so much. it’s like for 5 minutes, billie probably fulfilled this kids dreams. music really has given us something we can’t find anywhere else.

Jack is right: after bumping the mic stand he knocks off a combo amp. Watch at half speed from 2:28min on and you can see. its right behind him and Billie :D

Green Day has been doing this for at least 20 years. Back in 2002 I saw them play with Blink 182 and Jimmy Eat World. Halfway through their set Billie asked if there were any musicians in the crowd. He pulled up a full band, guitarist, bassist, and drummer and let these kids have at it. I don’t remember what song they played. When it was done he told them “the only way you fuckers are getting off this stage is to jump.” So the bassist and drummer jumped. When the kid was handing Billie his guitar back, Billie was reaching for it, then stopped and said “fuck it you can have it watch the rest of the show on the side of the stage and I’ll sign it for you when we’re done.” It was an incredibly amazing gesture. I gained a lot of respect for them that night.

You start to see what it looks like for live music to go right. That drum intro was explosive, and it wouldn't have been if the kid hadn't jumped up on the PA speaker like that. Musicians inspire each other in person.

dude. playing the OG blue on stage with them and having billie with his arm around you having you sing right alongside him. kid had to be on cloud 9 for days after this show

He became a legend among his friends. Cool of Billie to do that.

That kid when school starts is going to be a legend !! An mad respect for green day for doing this at ther shows !! It builds confidence not HATE !!!!!

This was something straight out of a movie!!! So cool and I’m envious! I always wanted to learn to play guitar but being able to rise up right at that moment is a moment he will never forget!!! Nice job youngster!

I wonder how many times he rehearsed that entire song in his room alone with no clue he'd actually get to do it alongside Green Day.
