Great video as always. I tried this controller about a month ago to play 2d fighters and unfortunately had to return it after a couple days. While the dpad feels premium and clicky, I missed inputs way too often and was constantly dropping combos. I just couldn't get use to it. For other games, the back paddles were completely useless for me. I have small hands and had to strain just to reach them. This controller costs as much as many high end fight sticks and is one of the most expensive controllers on the market, yet is one of the worst I have ever used. I also noticed my local game store had a bunch of them in the "used" section. I should have seen that as a red flag. There are many $60-70 controllers I would recommend before this one.

I wouldn’t say that a couple of days would be enough to really say you didn’t get used to it. Not trying to jab at you either, I feel like a few weeks would be much wiser considering how long brains take to get used to familiar tasks via different means. But all is good considering you found better alternatives

Great review. Glad I watched this before buying

For Tekken or MK, it's phenomenal. The tactile buttons makes your response time fast and accurate. But for games like SF6 or Guity Gear, sometimes the D Pad doesn't read the Down Forward motion correctly. It does take some time getting used to if you insist on using it for Sreet Fighter like games.

What's the best pad you would recommend that works on PS5?

Apartly the dongle lets you play on the xbox as well thats interesting i doubt it works if it does i doubt it would be great latency wise.

My v2 pro had issue with cardinal directionals. I had problems with hitting only left and only right, almost always I got some diagonals and accidental jumps. Left was much better then right. For right input it was impossible to switch low and high block - I didn’t get standing block. Few degrees from cardinal direction - and u get diagonal . Also it is too bulky, I have average hand , I had problems pressing bumpers. I felt wrist pain after 10 min session . I returned it next day , got v2 chroma , had no issues

Bought this a little over a week ago primarily for sf6, got pretty tired of the OG ps5 controller misreading my inputs. You're absolutely right in that the d-pad on the wolverine takes some getting used to, god knows I struggled with it at first but I've since fallen in love with the d-pad, if you can get used to it it's extremely accurate and clicky. Minus the saw thumbs after a few hour playing I'd say this is a great controller for most fighters.

@@LifeOfSlum I dropped a bunch of inputs at first to the point where I preferred my og ps5 controller. It's taken me about two weeks to get a handle on the way the d-pad functions. The trick with this d-pad is to focus your inputs around the outer edge of the d-pad. The d-pad forces you to be extremely conscious of where your finger is otherwise you'll drop the combo. Takes some getting used to, I love it now.

I have the controller too and the dpad is quite frustrating. Do you think it can be fixed by applying some glue to the dpad and thus increasing the actuation point?

So I actually bought one of these for tekken 8 bc I’m fed up with ps5 d pads. After like 4 minutes of practice I’m wave dashing better, faster, more consistently on this than I ever could on a normal d pad. It’s clicky but also doesn’t resist your thumb very much. You can get accurate inputs without using a lot of force. You may missinput more in the beginning but that is an adjustment/skill/dexterity issue not an issue with the pad. It just takes a little bit less force than most dpads. I like everything about this except for the Xbox layout. I think the back button placements are okay, not perfect but better than most options. The extra bumpers are placed super nicely. The victrix pad would have been my favorite pad but the back button placements are so bad I sold it. It’s impossible to grip firmly and not hit them. And I hate how either extremely sensitive or muddy the triggers feel on it…it’s a shame bc it’s a super cool controller and the 2nd best ps5 option after this. If you’re on PC I would get a scuf envision pro. I can’t speak to paddle placement but the button layout on the face is better than on the Wolverine pro v2. The review is good and only thing I have to add to this video is you can’t do any SOCD tricks with mapping extra buttons to directions (unlike a victrix or even a dual sense edge). 1st direction overrides opposing directions inputted instead of neutralizing it (2nd direction just gets eaten). You should talk about SOCD behavior in your reviews! I was actually surprised to see this behavior on this controller

The one thing that confused me about the video and I can't find any answer, does the controller have vibration? I saw someone say no haptics but I'm not sure if they just meant that extra trigger vibration on the ps5 controller, which was unnecessary and redundant. I would like if the controller at least had slight vibrational functionality tho

interesting view on the dpad, i hope razer is taking notes, i guess ill just get myself another razer raion instead, my former model didn't have any issues with the dpad so i hope i get lucky again

@@sheikhu1039 I had a Raion and found out I hated the fight pad layout, but loved the D-pad a lot. When this released I got one because it seemed to answer both of my gripes. It is nearly identical, if not a bit tighter/updated feeling.

Loved my PS4 Raion, and it’s huge 8-way microswitch DPAD, but would love the option to use it Bluetooth for when I’m not playing games that require super low latency. And would also love if it was in this same white/LED/black PS5 colorway. A few last features/improvements I hope we see on the next gen RAION: push the six face buttons a little higher, and give the option to turn on hd rumble. Those features would make the raion perfect for this gen.

Its not de same the ps5 version has an 8 way d-pad and the xbox an 4way dpad

Actually scratch the previous comment I put you GOTTA try the gamesir G7 the dpad is one of the best I’ve ever tried and it’s very precise and very sturdy if that makes sense. Be careful because there’s the Gamesir G7 which has clicky buttons and then there’s the Gamesir G7SE which instead of having clicky buttons has hall effect sensor thumb sticks instead

Doesn't work with PS5 unfortunately...

Im not a Street Fighter person I am a Mortal Kombat person and i use the Dpad not a thumb stick so i am very curious how the dpad would actually square up with MK games. Dpads with MK half corcles has to work perfectly everytime because its very essential for MK games. So i am dissapointed how you have to use it and miss or exeggerate it and still not being able to use the Dpad.

I wanna buy this but I don't know if I should get the Xbox version since everyone says their dpad is better than the ps5 one, or do I buy the victrix pro bfg. I mainly play tekken but just started getting into sf6 and want a dpad better for sf6 bc I feel like im already good enough at tekken and don't need a specific dpad for that game

Are there actually 8 switches in the dpad or 4 switches that support 8 directions through combinations (like most controllers/sticks)? I ask bc I saw a teardown of the razer raion which uses the same language as this controller and there are only 4 switches. A dedicated switch for diagonal would be cool

I bought a used one for a good price, there’s 4 switches. You can tell if you glide your thumb around the outside and listen for what switches are getting pushed/released Still good though and this is standard for “8 way” clicks d pads. I’ve never seen a dedicated diagonal switch

I had some issue with controller square didn't work except 2 games worked square fine and one game I couldn't even press start a game I had plug in out cable fix start screen so I returned it 3 days later I wanted love this controller ifs broken why should I love something isn't working so I exchanged Sonys pro instead

i dont like the d pad, it messes up my input especially with fighting games. victrix design is better imo

thank for you testing but it late coz I already have this controller 3 month for my mk11 just best than ps5 controller but not better then Xbox x controller , dpad not very precise every movement little bit slower to back neutral that like arcade not button to press if your guy want to buy high recommend to buy the Xbox version Wolverine and brook FGC converter don’t care about the wireless if that controller not good for u can switch any arcade stick or Xbox controller plus fgc converter to play it ..ps5 Wolverine too expensive that not worth that price best u can bought new fight stick or Xbox elite 😂

At that ridiculous price tag, I would rather donate my money in Africa than buying that thing. You just paying for the brand obviously. You can buy 4 or even 5 flydigi apex 4 at the same price.

I just bought it and im EXTREMELY disappointed with it. For $250 it literally has no major features. No rumble, no Bluetooth, cant even power on the PS5 with it. Like. WHY?

Yes i have played ranked match with this one. When i press forward with this controller my characater jumps very bad dpad the xbox version is has the best dpad the ps5 one is trash
