Did you notice that at least 15 to 20 of these shots were from the great Efren Reyes? No player ever possessed the judgment of angles and how to play them. He's seeing shots that no other player sees or even attempts. Even with these glorious players Bata Reyes is a cut above. Every endeavor has a performer that is the benchmark. Efren Reyes is the GOAT of pocket billiards.

Dusty Seiler has a great comment. Efren Reyes is my idol too. As a player and a human being. Intimidating in his peerless play. Never with poor behavior. Even his biggest rivals can't find a reason to dislike him. The video that refers to the "Greatest shot in Pool History, is spot on. Beyond any doubt the greatest shot I've ever seen. So great even the fine sportsman Earl Strickland stood up and applauded. Bata Reyes. Greatest pool player ever. Even greater human being.

Efren Reyes is a very good three cushion billiards player. That is a game where nearly every shot is as difficult as these shots are. Playing off just two cushions he is probably expecting to get within a quarter inch of where he wants!

Great players play excellent shots. Efren creates excellent shots. I don’t think anyone will ever match his skills.

Anyone who can actually DO a 5 rail shot without scratching is special. And to incorporate the action of ENGLISH and even set up a follow up shot and a run out is truly a magician

The thing is consistancy. I'm no world champ by any means, but on my best day I could make alot of these shots. With english pockets I might add. edit: not jump shots tho. Most pubs, clubs and house rules where I live ban them so people don't tear the felt. So I've never had much chance to practice them.

Trick shot on championships - only the magician! The L-shot still amazes me everytime.

As a spectator and an avid fan of billiard Bata Reyes is the most skilled player in the history of this sport. No doubt about it because you can actually seen in those competitions he had with. The only player had two balls to gamble those shot in a very difficult situation.

Lol that has been a well known shot in pool for 100 years. Reyes was a great player. His strength is that he is good as everything but you can make a case that Mosconi was better easily and Siegel, Strickland and even Varner were arguably better than Efren in his prime.

@@-Keyboard-Warrior. yeah, the game is insane, Reyes is my favorite pool player to watch and one of the greatest creative shot makers of all time (if not the greatest), but best game for same catagory I have to give it to Melling, was such an insane rack!

Some amazing shots that were the product of talent, skill and thousands of hours practice. Also some flukes thrown in for good measure ;-)

Of course so many great shots from the legend efren reyes.

in old billiards rule esp in the Philippines, if the main ball jump it's foul, they should bring it back that rule, so you can see more creative shot. unlike today they just jump the ball as easy as that.

Efren Reyes has an impressive skill and very entertaining shots!!! He is the GOAT!!!

Is it me but half those shots were Reyes. And a quester were Strickland. Strickland tries shots we all see, but he makes them. Reyes sees shots that no one else does, but he makes them. And then acts like it’s just another day at the office.

Efren knew he’d make the shot, hence the smile. Earl envisioned the shot, but couldn’t believe he made it… hence the jumping for joy.

TIL that Bata is the best pool player of all time just by his highlights.

These video shows some amazing shots. In 1962 I saw a demonstration of trick shots by Willie Moscony. I have never seen such cue ball control since. He simplified the game of pool so that he was always in position for his next shot. I heard that he once ran 512 consecutive shots.

I would love to see a match between Willie and Efram in a game of straight pool to 150. Imo, that would be a great test to see who is really the best. With players at that elite level, one bad break usually decides the outcome in 8 or 9 ball games. Not so in a multi-rack games. Position and strategy are even more important and cue ball control is crucial.

I like Angry Maniacs comment that Bata Reyes was so good people called it a fluke. They couldn't grasp the concept that he was that much better than everyone else. It would be difficult to be an Hall of Fame level player and then acknowledge that one man was the greatest to ever do it. That was Efren Reyes! A player with 20,000 fluke shots in his unmatched career.

3:16, 3:32 were correctly credited to Melling, though, the four rail shot at 3:46 was miss-credited to Mika, and should be Melling...(the 3 shots were consecutive ones he made during the 2017 World Classic in New York, his unfortunate opponent was Mika)...~~Just me, RD

Earl was definitely one of the greatest in the game. He was just unluky to have been playing when Bata was around. That's the only reason why he couldn't be the greatest.

Efren at his best would not be as dominant today, but that's only because the rest of the pool world was forced to imitate him to keep up. When someone changes how the game is played, the comparisons end. GOAT.

Just to note, at 3:48 you have this attributed to Mika Immonen but I am pretty sure this is Chris Mellings shot. In fact all 3 of his clips, the ones at 3:17, 3:32, and 3:48 are all from the same frame. One of most insane run outs I have seen in 8 ball. Well worth watching the full game.

A lot of these shots have been around for generations. We played many of them in our local pool hall during lunch hour at high school.

Eliminating some repeats in the list (at 7:47, 13:31, 14:57 and 15:28; those are the only ones I caught) and Earl Strickland’s trick shot at the beginning (0:10), I counted 59 shots from Efren Reyes (54.6%) and 49 shots (45.4%) from others (mostly from Strickland). Efren Reyes is the GOAT!!! 🐐

Every time I look at a setup and think “what even is that???” then physics breaks: Efren Reyes
