Games really haven't advanced much from this time-period in my opinion. I was expecting some wild AI advanecements but developers just focus on hair folices and loot boxes.

I much prefer the overall aesthetics and atmosphere in this game to the later entries which became a bit less grounded and slightly more anime-like. The game looked better without a million special effects and colours on screen

​@@Invertedzeroyeah, in sc6 half of the times I can't even tell what's happening on screen without getting flashbanged by a trillion shiny effects. It's just ridiculous. In sc1 and 2 when something was shiny, you pretty much knew what the deal was, something very powerful that was better to dodge. Except inferno. That guy was fire, in a stage in flames, and half of the times I can't even see what is he doing. But that's just the final boss, not every character and weapon

Not gonna lie: Link was my motivating factor to getting SC2, especially on Gamecube. But its thanks to him that helped get me into the series overall. SC2 holds a special place as my 1st SC & because Link was a guest character on GC, Game's really fun all around.

Link, Nightmare and Raphie were my go to fighters. Ivy's move set for the Cube was just the same as it was on the Dreamcast.

Soul Calibur II... Best of the Soul Calibur series hands down. I love the Gamecube version since it has Link, voiced by Batsu. Really loved this game. Stinks the Wii U never got the HD version of it but yeah, the HD version was a bummer. I still love it regardless.

This game has some of the best stage-geometry I have seen in a 3D fighting game, giving you the impression that you are fighting in a real place and not just a fighting ring. + it's beautiful ;)

I also used Link as playable character in SC2.

Link's voice here is the best out of all other Links, NO CONTEST.

So many amazing memories with SoulCalibur 2. Link was awesome in this game and back then I wished he appeared in more Fighting Game crossovers.

The reason Link used a net, is because his enemies will *catch* a beating. XD

Soul calibur 2 is the first ever fighting I've played and I'm super grateful for it.

Next to Super Smash Bros. Melee and Resident Evil 4, this was one of the games that I've put the most time into as a kid. While putting Link in this game was definitely a HUGE bonus (not to mention being extremely fun to play as), I also loved all the extra modes, awesome music, goofy weapons, character demonstrations, and just how much fun the game was to play. Soul Calibur 2 just has this charm that no other Soul Calibur game has fully captured yet.

If you played this game on any system, including Gamecube or PS2, you are a real G!

soul calibur 2 was my first real intro to fighting games. id played a few arcade games in cabinets like SF2 and MVC2 but never consistently and i was way young. then i got an xbox and playing Spawn on SC 2 was so incredibly fun. this brings back memories max.

Should have put it in Japanese so Siegfried, Nightmare and Link had the same voice.

Shout out to the twitch chat that was naming out all of Inferno's weapons as he was using them. Glad to see I wasn't the only kid who memerized all the different weapon's names.

This game will never be surpassed. Best characters,music and weapon master.

Fucking hell man, this is the only soulcalibur I've ever played and it was a damn good one. The memories are overwhelming, almost.

This game has a special place in my heart, next to CvS2, DOA2, and Power Stone

The music in soul Calibur games are dope

I had this game on PS2, it was an unforgettable awesome experience.

@@msvelvetcrowe Unfortunately not... :( My original GC was given away by my mother to her relatives. Since the Wii came not too long after, I never really bothered to use a GC to play its games. I could play on it again for authenticity, but nowadays it's more of a collector's thing, you know? Tis be sad. I wouldn't mind SC2HD for current gens or beyond, and even then, SC6 is on the horizon.

I can never forget the over 400 hours i put into this game, countless amount of matches shared between me and my brother throughout the years. Good shit.

This one of my favorite games of all time, period. So much passion, great characters, guests, unlockables, features, hot damn... They'll never make games like this again.

It wouldn't no, but if they won't even put the game on a VC as is, I have no hope for an HD version. There was an HD version of SCII released online a while back but of course it didn't have Link for obvious reasons. Best option is emulation via Dolphin.

Dude this was my first Soulcaliber game as a kid! IT WAS EPIC!

2 was the first game where I discovered the concept if guest characters, and as a hardcore Tekken fan back then, it blew my mind to play Heihachi in the PS2 version.

Great game. Man me and my friends used to have wars in SC2. Friendships were broken with this one, at least for a few days. Lol.

Dear God, Kilik's moveset. Somehow Seung Mina was always more of a pain in the ass to fight

Heck yea, playing the best version, I remember putting hundreds of hours into this game as a teen and it wasn't even in my top 3 most played GC games 😆 Seung Mina was my original go-to ever since Soul Blade for PS1, but then Talim showed up and changed everything becoming my all time favorite.

I still remember paying this game in the arcades in canada. people would save their profiles/characters on the machine and other people could fight them on the machine ranking systems...ah the times before the internet

I bought the game back then with the few money I had as a teenager because of the pictures of Taki and Ivy in a video game magazine... And also because the game just looked beautiful in pictures. Best decision ever, this game was perfect

So many fond memories of straight bodying CPUs as *Spawn* or *Nightmare...*

I legitimately did not notice that Calibur was actually in Inferno's head until you mentioned it here and that actually puts a bunch of the imagery and lore and whatnot in perspective. I'm a complete idiot.

Never noticed it either, and I probably fought Inferno more than a hundred times... that kinda blew my mind to be honest.

I won so many SC2 tournaments with ease. At high levels, this was truly a game of skill. The best fighting game of all-time

I might be wrong but it seemed like one of those games where every character was viable and playable from low level to high level with a reasonable learning curve. Everything felt good enough to pick up and play, and the mechanics were systematic and well thought through. It was a fighting game that didn't centre around giant combos, the parry system felt the fairest I've seen in a FG. Far less chaos than SC6

Soul Calibur II on the Gamecube was and still is my absolute favorite!

I own all 3 console versions, all 100%'ed, and still learn characters to this day. I'm totally not addicted to this game XD

My first Soul Calibur game and favorite of all time, especially on the GameCube that introduce me to other fighting game franchises; plus Link is in this game! I like using Link, Nightmare, Kilik, Mitsurugi, Maxi, and Cassandra. Best music by far in this game is Brave Sword, Braver Soul; one of my favorite music in Soul Calibur 2, is like a comeback music to me. Also, Max did you know that the voice of Link from Ocarina of Time did the voice of Nightmare in the Japanese version of the Soul Calibur games, Demitri, Joe, and Batsu to name a few?

This game was my childhood, seriously miss playing it. 💜 the nostalgia is REAL.

I remember sinking HOURS into soul calibur 2 with my friends and i learned that i sucked with link haha.

I remember playing this on xbox and having spawn. tbh I really miss the console exclusive characters. it really made your console feel special.

The sound Maxi makes while doing that flying roundhouse kick is a national treasure.

This was the game that got me into Soul Calibur.

Yeah, that was a Yoshimitsu unblockable at 18:42. You have to recognize the stutter/delay, sidestep once + backstep once

loved the mini-boss rage at the end!

I was way too young to TRULY appreciate what this game was. I bought it because Link was in it and I’m still mind blown at how well he fit into this game, Nintendo f*cking delivered 🏆.

i thought i was just really bad at fighting games since my usual arcade mode ends up going well up until the final boos and then i waste a shitload of time trying to bit that one guy..but this series of videos from max shown me that this is apparently the norm

Aww my one and only Soul Calibur game. Many thanks to Link for introducing me to this fighting game. I nearly forgot how much 'horsehit' Link had in his moveset lol. Also as Max deomnstrated, you can't play as Link without imitating his battle cries, haha!

This is my first time seeing Link gameplay. And I gotta say it is really entertaining. I played this on the PlayStation 2 when I was younger.

I think the reason Max would suddenly do massive damage out of nowhere was because he picked Soul Edge as his weapon.

Speaking of costumes, Cervantes' alt from SC1 is underrated as hell

wow Max made that Seung mina battle hard. His weapon drains his own health whilst hers gives her health :D

I really miss the Pre fight weapon select with weapons that actually differ from each other with different effects.

I still think SC3 is my personal favourite, massive amounts of single player content and unlocks, Rock, Li Long and Hwang returned. Introduction of Tira (my current day fav character) and Zasalamel. Arcade mode had an sense of epicness and every character sounded and looked really good. Not too mention the introduction of character creation.

Yeah for me a perfect SC game would combine SC3's level of content with SC2's presentation and gameplay.

21 years after release, Soul Calibur II still is a legendary weapon based fighting game like the original one.

Soul Calibur II was the only game in the series I bought multiple versions of I bought a copy for each of the 3 consoles.

My first ever fighting game. Such fantastic memories.

Undoubtedly THE BEST Soul Calibur game in it's history! Link def made this game so much fun!

I hope that they will add a dungeon like mode into SC6 like this one had, was fun going through all kinds of battles with different modifiers and situations. Also, different weapons with backstories would be a great addition as well.

I swear Link in the intro of SC2 inspired the one scene in Subspace Emissary where he got his Master Sword.

There’s a missing character who is highly mysterious. Her name is Chie from Soul Blade. She’s the girl that was buried in the grave in Kilik’s Ending in Soul Calibur 3. She’s the woman who is Li Longs Wife.

Man I used to play the GC version to death back then. My favorite characters where Necrid and Kilik.
