    My husband and I enjoyed this video. We get to visit the Smoky Mountains in a few weeks from Florida. Your hike reminded us of the trails in the Smokies. We look forward to the train videos.

    I played your Wilson Creek video and it has been randomly playing your videos since. This one has me excited. I did this hike in April. That trailhead sure was tough to find. I want to go back, but given it’s hunting season I’m waiting a little longer. Such an awesome hike and an awesome video!

    Yes, that was good "return visit'. It doesn't always end up like that. We didn't send as much time on top scambling around like we should have, but I was afraid I would lose the drone..LOL. It is the second drone you know. Lost one already. We may return there again !!

    I grew up on this mountain off beech circle and my grandpa died and his new wife no relationship to us well took it...I was suppose to get it because land stays in the family on that mountain and I haven't been there in forever and I miss it so much. Ice tried to reach out to her and nothing. But this place is magical and beautiful at the top

    After I uploaded and watched the video to make sure it plays right, I realized that they sell those ferns in Walmart around this time of year... LOL.. So maybe everyone know already.. But I learned it in Botany Class a LONG time a go... Oh well, some of us are just better civilized than others.

    Fun vid as usual. Enjoyed it very much and was funny to see the pooped puppy hahaha. Plays hard and crashes hard. Just an idea, but as far as compact and excellent saws go, check out Silky, they have some small ones, such as the Gomboy 240 which could do some serious cutting if your stuck. If you buy one, they cut on the pull only, so it takes a little getting used to. Cheers

    Ya, He was pooped this time, we re-did this climb and he was 2 months older and he wasn't as pooped the second time. I am trying to sell my gas powered chain saw and buy a battery powered one. Some of the new ones are incredible good. They don't last more than 20 minutes, but they cut as well as a gas, and they are quiet and don't spill gas. They do still leak oil though, so not quite as clean as I would like. But I will be carrying it with me when I 4wheel it ! Thanks for the comment

    @@GoingNoWhereFast Oh boy, he has alot more energy then. Oh yeah, those battery powered chainsaws are the cats pajamas indeed. Good thinking, with that pup of yours, you will need all the energy you can conserve for longer hikes. ;-)

    did you see any biking signs (is mountain biking on the trails allowed?)

  • @GoingNoWhereFast

    @GoingNoWhereFast

    5 жыл бұрын

    The mountain roads are all open to mountain biking, this particular trail I think would be too steep for a bike, but thee are a lot of trails for biking around the mountains, it is very very popular and acceptable. If the trails prohibit it, like the Appalachian trail, there are lots of signs, but most are okay with it.

    How does this area compare to the Adirondacks in the summer as far as the bugs? I lived in the ADKs and the bugs were pretty tough in July!

  • @GoingNoWhereFast

    @GoingNoWhereFast

    4 жыл бұрын

    There are hardly any bugs! It's really no comparison. The ADK is so wet and even the dry areas have a soil type that holds moisture and there is so much rotting wood there are mosquitoes, black flies and no see-ums everywhere in the ADK. Here, I live next to a swamp and at sun down I have been bothered by some mosquitoes, but anywhere else, I have not seen any bugs. Maybe a few deer flies on hot day hiles. But this is just much less bugs !

    Going NoWhereFast thanks for letting me know! I moved from the Adirondacks and am missing the mountains, so I’m thinking of looking for a place in the NC blue ridge mountains instead. I love to garden and the mosquitoes were so bad in the ADKs I actually purchased a bug jacket! Ha!

    Gosh Lynn, Bring raven, and Akela and I will tour you through the NC mountains. The Smoky Mountains can be very close to the ADK as far as crazy weather that blasts through in a few hours. I lived in Plattsburgh for 4 years and spent most of my time in Saranac lake and the surrounding areas, so I know Bloomingdale well. So NC has a lot of that beautiful Spruce/Fir Forest and mossy fern covered ground. That's why I'm here, because the winters were just a month or two too long in the ADK. And this place is as close as you can get (in my opinion). But you have an offer to vist if you ever want to.
