This style feels more like modern cartoons instead of early 2010's

This pilot actually sums up Dipper and Mabel's relationship so well. Dipper is the more "reasonable" one, but Mabel is still smart in her own weird social way. That's why she knows ghosts like Boo-berry more than Cookies n' Scream and that's why Dipper knew Norman was not normal.

Hmmm… Nah. To me, Dipper looks more like the „cool“ type of guy here, especially the way he‘s standing with his hands in his pockets. It doesn’t match his personality at all (plus I absolutely don’t like the way we see his teeth all the time when he’s talking if yk what I mean) Stan looks much better in the original gravity falls version and the animation isn’t that smooth either. Mabel here is cute tho, but not cuter than her original version. As for the style, idk, both are interesting to me

No, but seriously. He says "hoo hoo" in Gravity Falls. He says again as Hooty but as "hoot hoot". And other characters on the Boiling Isles repeat it. The owl in Gravity Falls is a clock. Lilith carries Hooty in a little house but also is reminiscent as an antique clock.

You can see Alex's influence from working on Fish Hooks, Justin Roiland was already set to play a character, and it's awesome to see that WAY before even the concept probably of Bill Cipher, there was the motif of the villain turning into stone. So glad that they used that again in the finale. What a lovely cherry on top.

I was like “hey this is pretty good for the first version” and then I saw grunkle Stan holy god I am so happy they changed that design

Pilot is fun to watch, but I’m glad they changed things up without scraping all of the ideas they had. I like the current series’s darker vibe and that they added Cipher and all. Even Dipper’s hat has more meaning now cuz well he got it as a gift from the shop from Stan. (And im so glad they upgraded Stans appearance.) I wouldn’t have watched the series in this style, but its fun to see raw ideas before the final product.

This show was so unbelievably good. Even this pilot, which is very rough around the edges manages to pull through and be something great. A literal demo for a show was better than the final result of some other shows. I love this series so much, and it’s really sad that it ended.

I get the sense this was a pilot that intended to double as the first episode, it's far too comprehensive, I'm amazed they changed direction after putting so much effort into developing this style.

I like how for their first episode they kept the pilot’s idea, even though the art style is different it actually gave the series a boost

To be honest, I would’ve LOVED the show just as much as I do now if not more if they kept the art style like this.

The decision to add an element of mystery to the journal dipper reads from totally made the show. Love this pilot

I love how the pilot is literally the first episode with a different art style. I love it.

To be honest, this animation style is great, a few tweaks here and there, but I would love to see a whole web series or even reboot with this style

Always liked Dipper's design in this one, it kinda feels like it's an older version of the one the show actually went with. Now he looks more confident and adventurous, like maybe he learned to be more bold after the first summer at the falls.

Truly peak nostalgia of this wonderful series

This was awesome to watch. Felt like a different dimension where this is the actual show. I was obsessed with gravity falls and this felt like watching the first episode for the first time again. So great

I love how much of it was kept - and how much effort they put into the pilot!!

A lot of pilots have maybe a bit of an altered story or sound design but wow this was basically an entirely different show

Honestly, the only thing I would change about the style is stans design. The design the show had was perfect. Other than that, I think I would have enjoyed it just the same if they kept this look going.

Man Mabel and Dipper’s pilot designs are so appealing. The colors are so warm and soft and they’re so expressive. The show style is just as good if not better but I loooove how some parts of this look.

I like the ghost's favorite icecream flavor joke. Its basically because ghosts are invisible

As someone who’s never seen gravity falls this looks exactly like the show to me

I love how Jeff looked like a person as a posed to the others. It's nice attention to detail.

Same sense of humor, same good dialogue. Some things never change. Edit: although the first few minutes of the real one are way better Like "weird things happen every day but this particular story happened a few days ago" vs the classic and more interesting line they eventually chose - "it looked like it was going to be the same boring routine all summer. Until one fateful day..."

This is so nice to see!! You can clearly tell the idea they were going with originally. I love how the mystery shack looked in the pilot! There’s so many different weird antiques and decor that would definitely catch your eye if you were Dipper and Mabel’s age. And dippers book is so funny! I’m curious as to how they would’ve implemented that book if they went with this idea!
