It’s a lot less heavy to say a ray of light is going to ‘burn’ a kid, and not specify how intense the burn would be, than to plot about dealing the irreversible damage blinding a child with a magnifying glass and the sun would cause. Also probably don’t want Timmy to use his laser pointer on his friends and call this show his inspiration when he’s in the principals office

I remember that the scene came so out of left field that it was both absolutely hilarious and depressing.

"My ex wife still misses me... but her aim is gettin better" is a quote that my little brother and I STILL quote on the regular to this day. We heard that when I was in 4th grade and he was in 2nd. They both call Ford "Sixer" and sing "We'll meet again" at some point. That and they're both voiced by the same guy. There's so much more sketchy, disturbing stuff between Bill and Grunkle Stan but if you wanna know all of it watch Matpat's Video on it (on Film theory). With everything in the show I can't tell if that's forshadowing for something much darker or if Alex Hirsch is meming on us since he voices both of them XD

In the original script, Stan says "blind the child" rather than "burn the child". This was changed because "blind the child" was deemed too graphic.
