As someone who’s kinda sick and tired of the discourse about the show’s final season, it’s so nice to literally go back to the beginning. This is legitimately super funny and is just a good pilot in the sense that it established the tone/style of the show, as well as a bunch of other details that would be relevant later. I’m glad they ended up making Marco more likable tho😅

Star looks a lot happier here then in the final series. I think they found the right balance between dorky and happy - not too boring, not too cheerful.. In the series, there are often moments where she seems to be a little bossy or annoying or too much over the top. In this pilot she's just an optimistic girl, trying to find her ways into the world. Btw, I really like the dynamic artstyle in the pilot (and in Season 1).. Sad they changed in in Season 2

Man, this makes me miss the simpler times when this show was well regarded. It's really interesting to see what it could've been. So glad they changed "Sol" for "Marco", fits way better. The writing of the reused jokes definetely improved and "Sol" was made a lot more likeable in my opinion

You guys have NO IDEA how long I waited for this pilot to be released to the public. Most pilots air before, during, or RIGHT AFTER the show airs, and seeing Star vs. the Forces of Evil tease a pilot only to never release it even AFTER it ended was really frustrating. I had to wait between 4 to 8 years to finally see this [8 for when the show premiered, 4 for when it ended] when I could've just waited at least a month. Gravity Falls released its pilot after the show ended so I expected them to do the same for SVTFOE, but instead I had to wait longer. Glad it finally came out. Better late than never.

All issues I have with Star aside, it's cool to finally see the pilot in full after all these years. I love the feel of it and Star's outfits in it were pretty good and could've worked in the final show. Glad they changed Marco's name tbh and also Tom's look given OMG, he looks like a Dollar store Darth Maul. This pilot looks a lot closer honestly to how the final show looked as opposed to say, Gravity Falls' pilot which is very different to the show's final look. Overall, a lot of good stuff in this pilot I'm glad they either kept or wish they kept but also a lot of stuff I'm glad they didn't. Kinda nice seeing something new for the show, even if it's older than the show itself, lol. Felt like old times for a bit.

Dude, this has been a compliment to me, having enjoyed it like the first time I saw it... the pilot episode that I searched for so much and never found until now, the story, the designs... everything the same and loyal to the series with a slight retouching of the script and music implemented with amazing styles without a doubt the best moment of my life has been to feel the emotion again since I saw it in its first premiere on television. Pure beauty and nostalgia that leaves a beautiful memory in my heart ❤️

You absolute mad lad. Edit: Man this is a good pilot, but it is baffling how much the music can add to a scene even when every other angle is covered. Crazy. I have so much more respect to composers for any medium now. Their job is crucial.

I would understand by the end of the episode being mad, but having him mad from the very beginning makes the audience question why. Is he just mad at Star because she lives with him. Did he not give her at least a chance? Did Star do something to make him mad? All these questions just make the characters unlikable from the get go instead of giving the audience a chance to get to know them.

However, I do think that it is implied that he’s gotten into chaos with Star before it shows him being pissed off at her when walking her to school. For example, when it shows him trying to do karate but then hits himself in the face because Star’s messing around. Living with Star must be a burden for him, which is therefore why I believe he acts like this.

In June 2023, we found Star and the Forces of Evil, watching since Star vs. the Forces of Evil

Finally we have a pilot, after 7 years, I missed some content from SVTFOE

Things I found interesting in this pilot: 1) there was a horrible dirty joke about ass - so it probably means SVTFOE ment to be more adult-like show; 2) there were bad words used like "shit" - the same conclusion; 3) River looks too serious and angry here, and Moon is too timid; 4) Marco is even more unlucky loser here, which is crazy; 5) Marco is more nagging here that he even freaks Star out with his yelling and ugly face expressions; 6) Marco really used to think Star was quite clever, which is kind of surprising, to be honest; 7) the first Starco hug looks pretty unconventional; 8) there was a direct mention of chronology - it was stated that 2 weeks passed from the Star's first time on Earth and Match Maker; 9) Ludo's first appearance was even better that in the very show; 10) Tom's fist design was disgusting.

So, the designs of some of the characters look slightly different than they do on the actual show. Also, I had no idea that Marco was originally named Sol in the pilot. That's definitely new. Other than that, that was a pretty good pilot.

As someone who sees this version of Tom's design for the first time.. well.. let's just say I was absolutely horrified

Before KZread Kids rule over this comment section (pun intended), I completely forgot about the lost pilot episode. Back when the show first aired and this pilot was a hot topic for some time in the SVTFOE and Lost Media communities I'm actually glad it's finally found after a long time. This year has really became a huge year for lost media.

Idk why but the details of making background characters expressions so real its just amazing to me

Genuinely love the background style used here, its so interesting to look at and the colors for star's room and ludo's castle especially are really pleasant. I understand why they changed it since it does clash with the final character designs pretty jarringly, but it's still nice to see. I also like the use of purples and oranges in butterfly castle and the nobles outfits - especially how the red/warm colors used contrast with the queen and kings periwinkle/purple and stars cerulean and sky blue designs.

Man i miss this show so much. Im really happy that we finally got to see the pilot of this show. Also i was not ready to see Tom’s design in the pilot. Glad they changed him to his final design. Also its intrestring that Marco was named Sol her

The lack of background music is unsettling

I loved picking out what from the pilot eventually made it into the actual episode. And just by doing that, WOW I forgot how funny the earliest episodes were.

It's like seeing a new episode Of Svtfoe After 4 years of the finale even though I'm not a fan of the finale of the show but just by seeing this is like fresh air to see something from this show after 4 years

I don’t know why but this seems a lot better than the actual show??? The humor is a bit more mean spirited (but not too mean) and less over the top and random, and I actually think that works in the show’s favor because of how much it contrasts with the colorful fantasy premise. Plus, Star is a way worse person here (intentionally, I hope), and that’s a great addition to the tone. I wish the actual show was more like this.

This is so neat. I'm not the biggest fan of the of official show and the shipping, don't het me started, but it is so cool see what got changed or reworked in the final product. The plot is like the first 5 episodes of season one, the original designs for stars parents and Tom, the way the music in finished show really made it feel complete! I love it. Its like a where's waldo or spot the difference of television

Its amazing how little was changed from this pilot, we usually see a lot of changes between a pilot and the actual released series

i love that in the final show they ended up using some of the dialogue/ voice over from the pilot

This pilot has more of the old crazy cartoon energy, and i love it , but glad they changed a few things tho idk if i like this style of animation or the final one .

People were talking about Tom’s redesign and I was not ready even remotely. I figured it would be like blonde or something. I can’t even describe what I saw. Also, I want to see fanfiction about Marco’s (sol) last line “I am not happy with you” I’m not sure if that’s where the episode left off but the idea of one of the happy cartoons like star versus the forces of evil ending off with the character saying something so hard to each other and they’re not being some relief before the new episode is shockingly enticing

I love seeing the comedic simplicity that the series could have, if you watch the pilot without knowing anything about what happens afterward and the terrible result that the series had at the end, it looks like a cool show
