Why don't they play golf instead. What did our Former President of the Philippines Rodrigo Roa Duterte? He invited in his modest home in Davao Japans Shinzo Abe. We Filipinos were not surprised. Thats hospitality Filipino style. Guys this world we live in is merely lent to us. Why do we have many anxieties. We cannot even prevent the flood from rampaging city streets and farms and villages. Let there be peace on earth.

She avoids many facts and includes only those that favour India's support of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. This was certainly the worst possible decision that Putin made and I still cannot imagine why he did it. It is possible that he was misled by false intelligence manufactured by the Russian KGB or that he was fed false intelligence by the CIA. Whatever it was, it will go down in the history books as a military decision akin to Napoleon's 1812 and Hitler's 1941 decisions to invade Russia. It resulted, of course, in the demise of both these world leaders and I don't doubt that Putin will enjoy the same fate.

Brilliant submission, I am from Ghana, and this is sooo spot on. It pains me that US has been behind a lot of politicial instability in the continent of Africa, I had always had the view that, they stood the best chance at being development partners. But of course their CAPITALIST machinery which though impressive, failed on the HUMANITY side. As long as it's about them and their corporations milking us they could care less. They and the West lost it a long time ago, I'd welcome China or India anyday, but they must also learn and not forget the HUMANNESS always wins.

I love this news presenter, she's so good at explaining the wider geopolitical dimensions to this conflict and its historical context...what we are seeing is really a continuation of the cold war and a new power struggle between West and East...all the signs are that both sides are edging closer to a direct all out conflict. Instead of Russia it's now China that poses the greater risk and threat to regional and global peace and stability as China is increasingly showing its territorial and global power ambitions.. There are so many potential flash points now for a WWWIII conflict, Taiwan, the China-Indian border, Ukraine and the Eastern bloc NATO-aligned and Russia-aligned nations..and of course North Korea and South Korea, Japan over China's artificial islands and South China sea claims that extend far beyond its legal territorial waters, plus several other South East Asian countries being drawn into that. The only thing stopping China going faster and moving more aggressively its slower growth and unstable economic situation and the risk of that worsening if China faces US/international sanctions or tariffs again from US. And of course, there's still the Iran-Iraq-Saudi-Israeli problem area, and the possibility of Iran gaining a nuclear capability which will upset the power balance in the Middle East and risk a major conflict there. Although Israel is said to have a sizeable nuclear arsenal and is no long dependent on the US (or constrained by it) and Iran has a long way to go to catch up with Israel, but being such a small country even one nuclear missile in Iran's hands would be a nightmare for Israel and the Saudi's..

Palki, your presentation today was very fair-handed. Such is the state of our World is One today. I personally commend both PM Modi and President Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador of México for their similar political positions of multi-alignment and looking out for their countries interests first and foremost, while staying away from the fray and not trying to moralize and tell other countries how to do their business. Every country in the world has problems of their own and serious ones to address. This war in Ukraine and all wars on the minds of other world leaders for the common good should stop now or world peace will only ever be an illusion and pipe dream. Talking about a dream of world peace when you're ignoring the fact that Russia is invading Ukraine and your government is perfectly willing to enable them for your own self interest. Waging war is not a country "doing their business". It is a country forcing its will on another sovereign people through violence. You say this war in Ukraine [and all others] should stop for the sake of world peace, but your country is buying discount oil which helps enabling Russia to continue its invasion. Your apathy is something these warmongers count on. The US counted on it for the Iraq/Afghan invasions and Russia is counting on it now. And then some Saudi prince invests 500 million into Gazprom, when Russia just nationalized (read: expropriated) decades of foreign investment into Russia. It's like he's giving his money away. But hey, him, and you lot can do what you want, you're sovereign after all. Just don't be surprised when we remember your "multi-alignment" and decide not to trust you after the dust settles. India refusing to condemn Russia for Ukraine (or the US for Iraq, Afghanistan, etc) is like a vulture refusing to condemn the lion because it's salivating in anticipation of the carrion. Peace to all, except those whose suffering you can benefit from, apparently. What a hollow wish to send out into the world. Shame on you for ignoring the suffering of others.

It's a new world starting, where not one or two hegemonic side start to dictating - but the countries could representing their own interests! WE ARE ON YOUR SIDE DEAR HUMILIATED PART OF THE WORLD!

Beautiful reporting!! Refreshing look at situation between Russia and Ukraine in different light. My only hesitation is that, if one doesn’t see Russia invading Ukraine as morally wrong (and hence worthy of standing against), one simply, and ironically, justifies the very thing in this reporting that she was speaking out against-the imperialism of the West. And so, the vicious cycle continues.

Imperial China for example didn't advance theirs expansion simply because Communication and Transportation didn't keep up with theirs ambition. Just to highlight how important these 2 things really is. Imagine in the future, Transportation: Spaceship to Moon or Mars while Communication to have real time communicate.

Well first of all my message to palki lovers don't blindly believe in everything she says. First of all in 21st century cold War 2.0 is between China and USA not Russia and USA. This is because cold wars are fought through proxy wars and not getting involved directly. Since Russia is directly involved directly while China is now playing its Trump card through Russia to suppress hegemony of USA. China and Russia were never this close in terms of bilateral relationship before Russo-Ukraine war. Secondly what she said is USA is bullying , well its not also 100% true since relationship of USA with South Africa and Middle East have always been tough historically. So they are just countering Chinese presence in these two places(either softly or by using power) and finally regarding India wion has always remain biased including Palki Sharma because what she said we are following multi-alignment approach which is very true but not because we want to move away from west but because we need to counter China on different forums that's why we need support of different nations including west. So guys the real threat is from China not Russia as it has already became weak due to ongoing war. Hence China will try to establish its dictatorship hegemony around the world if USA doesn't counter Chinese. Everyone is hungry of power not just USA. So now you all choose democracy or dictatorship? If you chose latter then ask those who doesn't know the meaning of freedom. So rather listening to this lady and forming opinion too quickly just think rationally.

Excellent commentary!! I am a USA born citizen and I do love my country (although I've lived no where else to know the difference). BUT I do not love the USA government and it's policy of foreign interference. Nor the interference it is currently doing to it's own citizens at the present time. They would have us believe things are beyond horrific in other nations but things are just as horrific right here. Extreme poverty, unbearable taxes, unaffordable and ineffective healthcare, overreaching fascist government agencies, etc. Democracy, constitutional rights, lawful justice, freedom of speech &/or thought, these things are mere illusion. And, so, for the USA to dictate to others how they should govern their people has become an undeniable joke to the whole world. Besides which - these other nations have many thousands of years of history, whilst the USA only has about 200 yrs. And none of that is unblemished nor an example of perfection with which to boast the 'perfection of democracy '. Perhaps if it worked the way it was intended to it could be perfection, but because of greed it does not.

Well summed up. I am a Military Veteran that fought in the Angolan War which dragged on for almost 20 years. We as Africans of all color were the pawns on the chessboard caught in the middle between East and West. The bottom line sadly has seen the constant destabilizing of Africa by the Western World were unlike the East which we were led to believe to be the boogie man were in fact funding the overthrow of Colonization and to return Africa back to their own peoples. In view thereof, Africa have learnt who to trust and it surely isn't the West. There is so much more I can say and add to this based on my personal experiences and life in Africa.

@@jp3630 MY mindset is based upon fact not fiction. Further to your comment that Africa has to be for Black people is not the correct mindset as that being the very reason why Africa still is lagging behind the developed world. I believe Africa belongs to Africa and it's cultural ways preserved. In saying that a developing country needs tolerance and peoples of all races or nationalities that are willing to contribute to it's growth and development. The sooner the world moves forward away from one race owning and controlling the better. I was born and grew up in South Africa spending 44 years of my life there where I contributed to the country's economy, namely I has two business there employing many people and considered myself as a proud African. It made no difference to me whether I was black, white, green or yellow as common respect for all was basis of my thinking. Discrimination against others becomes the downfall of not only society but the economy as a whole.

@@how2withbasics567 "correct mindset as that being the very reason why Africa still is lagging behind the developed world" Wrong. The reason for Africa lagging behind is due to a lack of racial competitiveness. "a developing country needs tolerance and peoples of all races or nationalities that are willing to contribute to it's growth" Also wrong. It doesn't need them, but if they are already in the country, then yes it's important for all to contribute. The world in general is very hostile to Black people, whether it be in USA, India, China or Europe. That's why Africa must be for Black people. I live and travel around Europe and the world. I know what I am talking about.

Let's get back to the non-alignment movement which was shaped by Josip Broz Tito (Yugoslavia President); Jawaharlal Nehru (Indian Prime Minister); Gamal Abdel Nasser (Egyptian President); Kwame Nkrumah (Ghanaian President); Sukamo (Indonesian President). Joined by many others developing countries leaders, and charismatic Fidel Castro. He properly defined the purpose of the organization in its Havana declaration in 1979 as to ensure " the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and security of non-aligned countries" in their "struggle against imperialism, colonialism, neo-colonialism, racism and all forms of foreign agression, occupation, domination, interference or hegemony as well against great power and bloc politics". Today we have to shape that around Brics. Back in days, it was a forum of 120 countries.
