India may hold 1/5 of the global population, but that does not mean a lot to the nations outside the Indian Peninsula. There are 200 countries and thousands of nations, speaking thousands of languages.. In that context, population number means very little. There are large and small nations, but all have one thing in common: the all want to be heard. I've heard a couple of speeches by Minister Jaishankar, and he is treading on thin ice with his: "I am many so you will listen" approach. No one likes to be lectured, not India, not anyone.

Tbf you’re right with India and China but the majority of japans population is old. They can’t do many important works since they’re in retirement age. I believe he actually wanted to criticises solely Japan but that’d be too harsh given it’s an ally so he included other countries he disfavours. Also with the yen crashing and low fertility and birth tates in Japan, the situation looks bad. However Japan is very homogeneous and migration could destabilise the country if done unplanned.

Please do NOT put China & US GDP with India GDP at the same sentence. Do you know how ridiculous that is? Do the calculation yourself assuming India is able to maintain that growth forever, how long would it take India to be HALF of those countries GDP.... Plus if you look the average india gdp growth, it's hovering closer to 5% in the last 30 years or so.... Using your logic, guyana, macau, niger & lybia have been doing exceptionally way better than India....

That's not a really good comparison and I hope you know this. If I make 1 Dollar today and 2 tomorrow I grew by 100%. If I make 1000 today and 1001 tomorrow I grew by 0.1%. India GDP per Capita $2400. China $12000. US GDP per capita $74000. I am not defending what he said. But throwing in this comparison is silly. At the top you just don't grow much.
