@Carama Rasmussen, I started using a cutting board about ten years ago. My hands don't work as well as they used to, and after cutting myself too many times, the cutting board is a good thing to have.

I'm in my sixties and I didn't grow up with the food processors or the choppers. Everything's by hand. What's important is a really good cutting board and really good knives. Of course we need good cookware and good mixing bowls. It's okay not to have all the modern gadgets.

It's funny how some people can take the same ingredients and make the same thing, but MaMa's or Grandma's was always better. I can't make fried taters or dressing like my Mom. They're okay, they're just not like hers or my MeMaw's. The grandkids would get to fightin' over the last of her fried taters, her mustard greens too! I love watching Granny in any video. I'd love to see her every week. I know she stays busy crocheting making beautiful gifts and flowers while she's listening to her Westerns. As I've said before, your family continues to be a blessing to me everyday. Praying for Miss Cindy and you all 🙏💕

Nothing better than tater pancakes! I so wish I lived close to y'all so I could learn some of these cooking traditions. My mom, who passed 22 years ago was from Oklahoma and cooked very similarly. Thanks for sharing!

I just love Granny. She makes me miss my mother and Grandmothers so very much. Sometimes I wish we would have had video like we have now back then so I could have documented all the things I wish I knew from my grandparents and my mother and father. You are so blessed.

Oh my goodness! I am so hungry just looking at those and thinking about all that yummy onion cooked inside. I'm not sure I've ever had potato cakes, but I think it would be worth mashing some potatoes just to try them! Thanks so much, Tipper, for getting Granny to do this demonstration, and tell her how much we enjoyed it. And BTW, I planted potato sprouts in a pot on the deck today. I kept thinking about Granny planting potato peels, so that made me brave enough to try it even though I didn't know what I was doing and don't have a clue how to harvest them when the time comes, lol. It's a fun experiment though.

Sweet memories of "potato patties" made with left over potatoes and onions and fried just this way. And we also had salmon patties made this way with egg and onion and flour to bind them. Nothing was wasted and it was so good. And granny's supper of pinto beans, fried potatoes, and fried squash (did i hear cornbread?) Is another likely meal on my childhood table. What a precious video. Hug granny for us all! And God bless yall.

These look so good. Good simple food. My dad made potato pancakes from raw potatoes. They were soooo good we could keep him grating for hours! It was his specialty if Mom was away. Sending a hug to Grannie! ❤️🇨🇦

Reminds me of MY Gram. She was a West "BY GOD" Virginian. Coal mining family. Youngest of 13. I miss her and her cooking. Bacon grease fried everything. Used to ride the Amtrack" train up there. Great time of my life.

It sure is nice when you have Granny on. She is so funny and I like how she has her ways. She was so cute worrying about you telling the name of the steak house! Her grandson didn’t get the recipe for the whole country LOL!! ❤ And I want to try and make those tater cakes. Please tell Granny I send her many thanks for sharing her recipe and her stories.

Well I just learned something new! I always tried to Pat my potatoes into a little cake too & it was a pure mess in the skillet. Dropping them into the grease & letting it brown & flipping them then flattening them out makes so much sense. Can’t wait to make these. 😊❤😊🙏
