Regarding local watch makers /repair, word of mouth is a great way to find out. We have a local Horological Society and meeting and talking to people there as well as the AD's at various shops around, I have been able to locate a couple of quality craftsmen and I greatly appreciate their skills

My three grand seiko bracelets fit perfectly in the box they came in while I wear the watch heads on a strap.

I got lucky with a local watchmaker. He is is very respected and delivers. Set up on of my seiko’s to an excellent accuracy. Also did a solid service for my Breitling. A non chronometer model now runs like a chronometer

The Jaquet Droz already sold nice to see a niche brand get some love JD is underrated.

There is only one watchmaker in a town about 45 km away. They do great work and will refer me to other specific watchmakers in the capital cities when there are very specific conditions and regulations associated to some brands.

The titanium Bond Seamaster is, if memory serves, much thinner than the standard production model. I think the reason is they removed the date. So Omega COULD make a thinner, enthusiast-focused model without a date that ticks most desired boxes ... but to Fed's point, I would guess it won't happen.

No issues with the current GS bracelets. I hate big chunky clasps. Hope they do it in a sleek design.

GS has been blind and deaf for decades with regard to micro adjust and taper bracelet... not to mention the all chunky bulky cases... so it's interesting to see if they are changing now

YES!!! I've been bitching about this for years, finally GS has listened and fixed the single biggest complaint that people had about their watches. Well done, GS. I look forward to purchasing one of your watches in the near future. Now, Omega...the Aqua Terra does not have your excellent Comfortlink (tool-free microadjustment) system that both the Seamaster 300 and Speedmaster line have. I see no good reason why it shouldn't, and with the AT you're competing with GS and Rolex (specifically, the Datejust), both of which now offer tool-free microadjustment. Please follow suit.

The 8800 in the SMP is only 1mm thicker than the 1120 in the old SMPs. It's not just the movement that makes them thicker these days.

The Brosnan era Seamasters with the ETA movement's are the Seamasters to get.I wouldn't even bother with the current Seamaster. I actually have a Seiko tuna Marine master Ninja SBBN035 on today aswell. I really like Seiko mainly vintage and neo vintage Seiko but GS hasn't made a watch that I really like yet

I feel like you didn't really answer the question regarding watchmaker. The question wasn't really how to select among watchmakers; but how to literally find one! I figure there's got to be one around me, but a search for watch repair turns up the little shops in the mall that might fix your bracelet or change your battery. They might actually have real watchmakers, but who knows 🤷‍♂️ I'm sure most watch dealers also have someone, but probably want to add their markup to the transaction! 😮

I'm still waiting for Steel Reef to release their extension link for certain Grand Seiko models. It should be a game changer for existing bracelets.

Lol, if you're gonna have a token dive watch, hard to argue with having a Seiko tuna. Though, I should point out, that's not just a tuna, it's a monster tuna! Traditional tunas don't have the monster-style large cut-outs in the rotating bezel.

The Streamliner flyback chrono is nowhere near $25k in the aftermarket. It's around $31k, no?

I love Nomos but their prices are ridiculous. The Alpha is based on the ETA 2801. Why should I pay double the price for what is basically the same watch as a Jughans Meister? Is a sapphire crystal and the Glashutte name really worth and extra 700 bucks?

Why not just make a bracelet that doesn’t look like a cheap regular seiko. For me it is a deal killer for GS.

Had I the means, I would buy a Toyota for Rolls-Royce money because that would be the Toyota Century, a car so luxurious that all the controls for amenities are in the backseat because it's assumed you have a chauffer. Among other high ups, they're used by Japan's royal family. They refuse to make it under the Lexus brand because brands operating in a specific market segment is a Western concept and that's not something the market for the Century would kowtow to. A lot of hand craftsmanship goes into one, something we cannot say about the Rolex Daytona.

Not a GS expert but interested to know everyone's thought on the GS Dual Impulse Escapement which is in their 9SA5 Hi-Beat 36000. Is it worth the premium compared to the older generation 9S calibers. I know 9R spring drive calibers are still more accurate but It's like GS now have 3-4tiers of GS watches.

What tookt them so long ?! Well, better late than pregnant 🤣

The 7C46 Tunas are incredible. It's one of the BEST Seiko movement's ever made. It's a legendary movement. Anyone who says otherwise. Clearly has no idea what they are talking about

I can’t believe we’re even comparing arguably, the most famous watch of all time, the Rolex Daytona, verse one of the ugliest watches of all time from a nobody brand H Moser. You’ve gotta be kidding me…. The Newman Daytona auction was it $17 million? Versus an h moser, good luck giving that away on a street corner. Anyone can build a watch, not anyone can build an absolute legendary brand
