    Yeah. There is going to be speakers for sounds and what not, plus everything will be covered and (hopefully) tuned a little better. All that noise is coming from the miter gear mash, that can definitely be fine tuned and greased a bit more.

    This is great! Have you considered building the components that are outboard into a gauntlet that has contact points in the upper palm of the glove and the webbing between the thumb and forefinger?

  • @PatchBOTS

    @PatchBOTS

    3 жыл бұрын

    The outboard components will soon be contained. The final saber will be two isolated systems; hilt and outer ring connected via bluetooth. Both systems will have their battery packs built in.

  • @FuzzyBunnyRainbow

    @FuzzyBunnyRainbow

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@PatchBOTS very clever with the bluetooth! I'm guessing the sound venting will be radial near the ends of the handle (to avoid spin distortion of the sound and taking it's accelerometer input via bluetooth for the outerwheel plus input from the handle as well)? When you move to a internally compartmented setup, are you trying to do neopixel for the blade lighting or baselit due to the high battery drain needed for the spin? We will watch your career with great interest!

  • @PatchBOTS

    @PatchBOTS

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@FuzzyBunnyRainbow Thanks. Sound will come from transducers which will hopefully turn the whole thing into a speaker. I doubt it will be super loud, but hopefully enough. Yes, I'm sticking with the neopixels for this version. I'm slowly making a list of ways to make a potential V2 better, and switching out the neopixles is definitely on that list.

  • @PatchBOTS

    @PatchBOTS

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yeah. But making it heavier would be a bad move. It's already pretty hard to hold for any duration of itme. Next iteration will be much lighter all around

    Glad to see you posting again, though at the end of the video, why does the blades spinning have a greenish yellow colouring instead of red? side note, it looks like leeks spinnning around and reminds me of the leek spin videos.

  • @PatchBOTS

    @PatchBOTS

    3 жыл бұрын

    I have no idea why the blades look like that vs. the red. I had the same reaction when I saw the footage. I assure you from my perspective the color of the light did not change when it started spinning. Must be some light/camera/speed scenario. Maybe someone smarter than me can explain.

    And here’s me thinking they just need a rotating mechanism and just a locking mechanism that you cam hold to unlock . so you just flick it spins and then Press it to stop it spinning So your not stuck to wires against a wall/generator

    still a work in progress. i've been picking it up on and off for a couple years now. you'll see in the next two videos how complicated the circuitry can get with something like this. lots of fails, but it's in a good spot now.

  • @PatchBOTS

    This version will not be for sale. This version is a real brute force attempt to get this working. I've learned some ways to make it better/faster/lighter, so if the demand is there I may do a V2 which would be pretty easy to replicate

  • @nanorex_designs
    @nanorex_designs3 жыл бұрын

    I had had the idea to build one of these four or so years ago! Although I deemed it too tricky of a project to attempt. Do you think the final product will be two isolated systems (the blades and the rotation motor)? Hopefully you're able to balance it well enough that it doesn't throw its weight around.

  • @PatchBOTS

    @PatchBOTS

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes it's tricky. I've been working on this on and off for a couple years. Yes, the Inner and outer sabers are isolated systems connected via bluetooth. All user controls are in the hilt which can send signals to the outer saber for turning the blades on and off, activating the sound, etc. This project will have 4 videos. Video 2 will be all about the inner saber circuit and Video 3 will be all about the outer saber circuit.
