THANK YOU SO MUCH TIM! I would actually love to do speaking gigs lol... I like talking (which I am sure you can tell hahhaa) Starting something new can definitely be nerve wrecking because there are sooo many unkowns! @@BrisaMarie You really should do some talks I think that it could help a lot of people. I am nearly set for Fall semester. I have to leave in 7 weeks for the 2,000 mile move. Orientation for GA's is on the 14th. So far I have three viable options for rentals so all seems well.

As a pre school substitute teacher, I find this video valuable. I like that you are talking about this stuff not being true because people love to scare folks out of their vision with nonsense. Keep up the great work. I'm sure the soon to be and current grad students appreciate you and your channel

well for the first point you brought up, It depends on what program you apply to. For physics you are offered either fellowships or TA jobs, which do fund your PhD. A lot of this also has to do with your advisor's funding. The funding can also vary region to region and from school to school.

Hi! so yes! This video really is about responding to many misconceptions and a lot of people (myself included) don't know how funding works at all and just naively think that they school automatically pays for everything as a PhD student... which just isn't the case for everyone. I do have this other video that goes into EXACTLY what youre talking about in regards to being fully funded ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/fICF0shqZb3QnKg.htmlsi=bJEWNjvo-PEcKsvG ) but when I started I didn't know I was going to have to teach or be a Graduate researcher or anything really... I really just thought... once your get accepted they pay for school, but that of course is just not always the case!

This was so timely - and also I learned a lot I didn’t know! I knew there were straight to phd programs but I thought they were like special cases or super fast tracked. And my mom also is always like “well I bet you can find a job that will pay for ur PhD!” And I’m like hahaha I mean maybe but I don’t think that’s real. Loved all the plugs for your past videos - shows how much you’ve built here on this channel and anyone watching this video as like, the first video of yours they’ve seen, will totally see you and this channel as a great pool of resources on grad insight! Thanks for posting!

@@BrisaMarie I think that the videos you make about topics relevant to you are translating to what the audience would want very well! The quality is awesome. The timing of cuts and how organized you and your talking points are make for a really easy to watch video. I’ll watch some content creators whose first couple minutes are super disorganized or get really off track and it’s so hard to watch them, for me personally. I’m excited! I’m moving on Saturday and it’s a big life overhaul bc I’m moving a few hours away and don’t know anyone where I’m going so I’ve been really preoccupied with that so I haven’t thought much about classes yet 😭 I think they’ll be interesting! I’m taking four courses so 😬 hopefully it’s okay. I enjoy commenting and love watching your videos so thank you for taking the time to make them and interact 💕
