You will usually find that the folk coming out with these knee jerk reactions to ai developments do not or have not spent extended lengths of time using these tools. I’ve spent 100’s of hours using GPT-4 in my coding projects and even without the roll out of the 4o bells and whistles yet I can instantly tell there is a fairly big difference in this model from the previous turbo model I’ve been using.

A human being is a real being any interaction with something real is better. For instance world you rather eat chemicals that taste like a delicious strawberry or a imperfect bruised real strawberry. You don't know the level of toxicity or nutrients in the chemicals.. But a strawberry is real and natural. Same with chatgpt.. I'd have to disagree. These changes will lead to better things in the long-term, of that I have no doubt. All technological innovations have been disruptive at first, but modern civilization is built on them, and we're a lot better off now than we were in the past. Try checking out Steven Pinker's book "The Better Angels of Our Nature", in which he relays the facts about how everything everywhere is getting better and more civilized, mainly thanks to modern technology and scientific development.

People who say there is nothing new about this havent tried to upload a pdf of a entire book and word for word have it edited or changed, or used the new browse mode that can literally find anything even under multiple pages in a single website, its beyond insane, beyond it.

@@SlyNine and a little extra detail this was only tested once i first tested with an image of me wearing a waistcoat that was not tailored properly it knew everything wrong Also on the 1st go yes its only 12 correct but with a little bit worse of a custom model it got all 3 of the words first go that this good one didnt, which means if i prompted even a little bit in the gpt it could 100% it 1 shot

A question related to music: Could 4-o analyze songs and give insight into such questions as: 1. The use of autotune/pitch correction in this recording. 2. Whether the singer is off-key at certain points, singing too sharp/flat, etc.? 3. Might it be able to identify instruments being used in the production of the song? 4. Could it identify chords/chord progressions and talk about whether this is rare/common for various artists? 5. Could it find similar songs by other artists and/or point out parts of the song that are similar to other songs? Maybe even create a map that shows similar songs to varying degrees of similarity? Some video podcasters and music reviewers do things similar to all of these things, and I'm wondering if they might now be assisted in their efforts - or will it be so easy that 4-o totally replaces any need for such video podcasters/reviewers?

As a mildly socially awkward person who prefers to stay quiet in group conversations, I think my first real use for this will be just practice, getting comfortable with leading a conversation

I like that GPT is better than Google's AI model, because we are getting gpt in iPhone with iOS 18 which I am pretty excited for. Siri has a chance to become a much smarter and more useful assistant now with the help of open AI !

Something I noticed that’s held true since the beginning and if someone would explain why, I’d appreciate it… Why can’t ChatGPT spell in a rendered image? Why is it that when I ask it to analyze a schematic, there’s no problem. But when I ask it to draw me a schematic of a basic Tesla Coil circuit, everything it returns has the correct components (ish), but is presented or rendered in some bizarre form of Tech Art with labeling that reminds me of the written language of Klingon I’ve seen from years and years of Star Trek. What’s more bizarre, is that as illegible as the schematic labels are, is that they are also eerily familiar. Anyone that thinks it’s just parroting back or reading from some complex if/then script, needs to have their gene pool chlorinated. Thanks again for the video.

Just give it a crossword puzzle. I did and it did a terrible job. Actually only slightly better than gpt-4. So it's not getting generalized improvement, it might seem. Does that mean it had to be trained for specific tasks?

Which app are they using to see images on their iPhones? I have ChatGPT plus and that option doesn’t exist for me.

All I need basically is a robot companion connected to this GPT-4o model so it can perform house work while being able to maintain an intelligent conversation and be able to call emergency in case of, well, emergency. We have had 4o now nearly a week but when can we do the things presented in the demo?

I’m already using the api on a Vector robot and it’s really fast at responding compared to GPT-4 Turbo.

They didn’t say whether GPT4o will be used for the GPT Builder for custom GPTs, because presently it is not. It presently cannot generate a drawing rendering from a photo or remember and image so that it can do things like duplicate an image and change the color of something in the image which would be useful.

I log into my Chat GPT and all that is available is 3.5 or upgrade to plus for $20 a month. I tried it on my phone and on my PC. When is this ChatGPT-4o going to be available?

why in my app it works nothing like the demo? I have an android app and use GPT teams. my GPT app is exactly like before, only it says GPT 4o at the top, instead of GPT 4. the app background on listening mode is black with a white bot, and not white with black dot. I can't interrupt it. the AI voice doesnt have emotions... It's not what we've seen. So is it out yet or not? I dont get what I am missing

They haven't released the new modalities yet, so right now we only have the same inputs and outputs as before. But ChatGPT now uses the underlying model so is smarter

Incredible stuff, hopefully they can add in some sliders to adjust the "cutesyness" of the voice, giggling and such (probably can ask it to tone it down). I would like that maybe like 20 percent less cute. Feels a bit weird as it is now..

What thrills me most about this whole thing is that they improved this much and then didn't even call it GPT 5. Makes you wonder what is GPT 5 going to be.

I'm confused about the video screen. I can't find that feature on my Android OR iPhone (and definitely not in the windows app)

Quici question if anyone knows. Why do people interacting with 4-o sound like AI robots rhemselves Like the way rhey say OK. Awesome. Thanks so much. I have 3 theories to start off 1. They are very self conscious of how they are talking to AI which is jarring for them to try and do seemlessly the way we would talk to another human 2. They've been told to sound more robotic to make 4-o sound more realistic. 3. The very nature of a person whose life calling is to create and develop and invest themselves in an AI is that they are a) robotic themselves to begin with and drawn to robotic 'people' which the AI fits perfectly b) become more robotic by spending so much time interacting all day with an AI instead of other real humans

So like the AI is being like multidisciplinary? It can collate data, crunch numbers and concepts across different media. It’s my prototype understanding. Probably keep it till next month when the finally invent the “soul”, whereupon I have to learn it ALL OVER AGAIN! 😮

How can you say “RIP Duolingo” based on a machine that can tell you what’s in a picture? That’s like someone getting a cold then writing their obituary or like saying ChatGPT is finished because you can run an LLM locally. Duolingo is way more than “Oh look, a manzana.”

I have a Chat Gpt plus account with 4o selected. However, 4o tells me because of privacy she cannot access my camera? I asked her if I could give her permission and she says no. What am I missing?

Thanks for this video and showing the true capabilities of GPT4o. Would you mind activating the low pass filter for you microphone? Or just putting one on your audio track before rendering your videos? There are constant bumping noises rather from you touching the cable or the tripod or the table or something similar. They are in the very low spectrum and only audible with good headphones. However when watching your video with headphones it's super distracting and sounds like someone is walking to my house. Applications for board games? Currently there are tons of videos that show how to play various games and some include play-throughs in which people actually play the game so you can pick up tips about strategy, etc. Also, many games come with solo-play rules or dedicated computer adversaries. To what extent might 4-o generalize all of these videos/functions so that 4-o teaches the game and/or plays the game with you in 2-player mode (thus eliminating the need for "solo" rules at all)? Similarly for games that require 3 players, but you only have 1 or 2 players available. Or, some games work best with 4 players - could 4-o add 2 or 3 extra players so that 1 or 2 players could play a 4-player games. etc.? And, finally, it is common for players to discover the need for resolutions for situations rooted in game-design flaws or problems that the game rules simply fail to address. In those cases, players search the web for supplemental instructions offered by the game designer and/or ideas/house rules tested by other players to address the flaws. Could 4-o find supplemental info and guide players through the game design/rules flaws? Can it search current, or is it blind to web activity beyond a certain date (say, "I can only give info as of 2023" etc.)?

Hell yeah I am stoked to get the Titan of AI models potentially integrated into iOS.

Now imagine if they can turn proteins, molecules, etc. into a native modality.. it would be godlike at creating synthesis steps for novel substances and medicine.

Solving the Olympiad math problem? Assumably, the example question used for this prompt could actually be part of GPT-4o’s training set. I’m not sure it’s possible to concluded the models current understanding of mathematics based on this along.

You stated Claude (for example) was simply iterative, but it's numbers between versions/iterations are on the same scale as gpt40. in other words, if gpt40 is deemed transformational based on the ELO chart then so is Claude. perhaps you got ahead of yourself and spoke about transformation and that is explained by the neural networks of multi-modal computing? Or some other facet. FWIW, it's going to be critical we explain our POV with data and do it in an objective manner... otherwise, fanboys will be the name given to us. Thanks again.
