You say that one of them has to go. I realize that they're g-shocks, and can take a beating, but with the way you throw remember onto the table, just get rid of them all. I've had some of my Casio for over 30 years, and I never toss them around like that.

As a G-Shock lover I'm still on the fence on this one. $500 for a watch like this, and with no sapphire crystal... This watch just doesn't scream Rangeman! My $350 Mudman 9500 is waaay better than this imo! If this watch was like $300 I'd buy it for sure. In the meantime, I'll keep wearing my GPR-B1000. Thanks for the review tho.

Good question! The running, walking, or biking exercise functions use the GPS to show you the distance traveled and your heart rate. So I would guess that you could choose the from among those exercises on the Rangeman.

This is the new rangeman, I like the design, the buttons are better compared to the new mudman. But that heart sensor is protruding way more than on other smartwatches. The compass is not improved, you must press the button for each value, no long press, and the backlight is switching on every time you press a button, wasting battery power. So far I'm not very convinced about this watch, especially considering the price. Even the package is only meh category.

I can't agree with you. I always want to know my steps, distance, tracking route, regional weather, heart rate, SPO2, altitude, temperature, barometrics datas and others. The breadcrumb navigation and the barometric forecast (storm) are superior. This is the reason why Garmin always be a solid point to the real hikers. Casio is a traditional and a money hungry company. They want to sell the same thing many times as they can. They make a little modification and the job is done. (They think, but the users don't agree) This mixed attitude is the worst for innovation. What I see and read on forums (for example: @Chase the Summit), many G-Shock enthausiast and users abandon the brand and find themselves at Garmin's ecosystem (Instinct 2X, Fenix and Epix). They want more. This is the reason why Casio would like to catch Garmin, Suunto, Polar, Apple, etc. but it can't. They would like to walk on the same way. I think, this is what truly happening. Just see the Casio and Polar collaboration. The GPR-B1000 was a legendary watch but new demands forming the market.

That's baby GPR B-1000 (Slice of Darkness).....it's nice, it's not bad really....the only thing that's stabbing me in the eye is that disgusting HR sensor, and all those fitness functions, but ok, it could be worse. Casio really could put some nice sapphire crystal instead of those shenanigans. As time passing by, I'm starting to be 100% sure that GPR B1000 will never be beaten...maybe it will, but the price will be not the headache but the migraine. Oh yes, there's no possibility to load the map over bluetooth and follow the compass pointer? In order to really use that GPS? Like anyway, it's a modern Rangeman for the people which are using a gym instead of being in the nature.....and one more thing.....how to replace the battery one day without some serious tool and without some serious knowledge about the smartphone repair? There's probably more ribbon cables inside that thing than inside my phone. Again that small compass pointer? Brother you're realy not lucky with that 😄😄😄😄😄😄😄

Jim, I really don't undestand those people with a phone on.....I got my phone if I'm at the mountain, but it's turned off in a waterproof bag, a phone is just a first aid, to call for help if you need it if you're alone (and if you have a signal)....but those modern guys....I don't know....if they believe so much to their phone, and if it's on in the pocket, why to hell they need a watch at all? And what's going to happen once when the phone run out of battery? They have a power bank and a cable in a back pack too? And they are ready to use it in the dark on a heavy rain, or a fog??@@JimKinkade

I saw the review from another youtuber yesterday and the smart features are truly trash. GPS takes 5-10 minutes to start up unless he got a faulty model, button delay which is the case with all their smartwatches, inaccurate heart rate data and GPS is a bit off. Casio clearly doesn't know what they are doing in this area, so they should scrap all that and do their traditional layout with a MIP display to keep the cost down because the design alone is cool enough.

@@MrHedgepig that’s great that it works for you, me personally I know I have to wear my rangeman a little loose because of how inflexible the band is. This is why the heart rate monitor would be inaccurate due to you arm moving during activity and light getting underneath. This leads me to another problem is I could still get it if it had the ability to connect to a chest heart rate monitor but it doesn’t so a big flop imo.

@@JimKinkade bro my main problems are with the un proper use of the rangeman name because for 90% of collectors, ramgeman is a true offline survival watch that is selfsustainable and the only one worthy is/was the 9400..the 2018 gprb1k was more of an experiment Wich had alot of issues and problems.. Also the fact that gshock decided its better to reuse the gbdh2k module in a different case tells alot about the interest they have in this day and age and that the era of innovation is gone (as they did with the protrekman 9500).. It's all about profit, minimal investment in R&d and use of shit materials( these bio plastic will most likely dissolve in watter after 5 years of heavy use Wich on the older models it was more like impossible) for me, this sounds like planned obsolescence.. I'm a collector, I love all my gshocks, have about 80 and 22 of them are rangemans 9400..for me, like I said, it's not about the value of the watch, it's about the principles behind it's inception. I see this release as a reskinned gbdh2k and nothing else and if I decide to pickup one, it will be only to replace my gbdh1000... Y'all who have 9400's in the collection, keep them close, they will be worthing their weight in gold in a few years..
