Gordon Solie in my opinion was the best of them all. Gordon would talk about the body parts being injured as a match went on. Because he was in the territories, Gordon spoke of people who maybe worked at the local studio that maybe was hospitalized in Fla or Gorgia, or local sport talents. He had that gruff , at times almost monotone voice, only to raise his voice at just the right moment to help the match on tv. Many loved thier local studio wrestling announcers, and many where very good and beloved. But of all I hears, Gordon was my favorite.

I'm not ashamed to say, I got teary eyed through this induction. As a kid, you couldn't convince me that wrestling was kayfabe, or a work, because Mr. Solie was so professional and convincing. Thank you for the great play by play, Mr. Solie.

I know right. I thought it was soo real too. I hated all the bad guys and when they hurt and made one of my favorite wrestlers bleed it made me soo mad. I just wanted to climb inside the TV and join in and help my guy. I was soo invested in wrestling back then. You couldn't tell me it was fake to save me life. I saw REAL blood and they had real injuries so how the hell was that fake. I loved watching Gordon and he made wrestling interesting and fun. RIP GORDON 🙏

He always played it straight while hosting CWF & he, Eddie Graham & Dusty Rhodes were responsible for making CWF the best regional promotion in the US in the 1970s & 80s. When I worked for GWA several years later, Gordon was brought in for the tv tapings as the host. Good to see the esteemed Solie made it. It must have been great to live in the south and get the chance to listen to him weekly. Thank god for you tube so now i can too. Where i come from we used to watch awa in the 60s/70s and we too had a great announcer named Rodger Kent who also felt like, i dunno…family. I sure would have loved to have heard Solie call a NASCAR race. Its a shame Mr. Solie didnt end up where he belonged….emceeing a major network nightly 6 pm news broadcast. Solie LIVES in my household and he will until the day i die

Watching how Eddie Graham found Gordon is a video to watch. I grew up in Miami and went to house shows in Miami, Miami Beach on Wednesdays and Friday in Ft. Lauderdale. That was the 1960s and from there. Twice a year we came to Tampa for the Armory and TV show taping. Gordon made you suspend your belief. My conservation proved he was a total gentleman.

My very first EVER memory of Professional Wrestling was turning on the television set. I turned to Channel 61 here in Cleveland,OHIO. And who do I see on TV holding a microphone announcing The Wrestling Card? None other than The Dean of Professional Wrestling Gordon Solie. And I've been a Wrestling Fan ever since. Thank you SO MUCH Mr. Solie for changing my life. You are The Greatest Wrestling Announcer in The Entire History of Professional Wrestling. No question about it man!!!!!!

Gordon was a walking encycpedia of wrestling. Whenever new wrestlers came for the first time, he took time to approach them and get to know them a bit in advance of their match, so he would know what to say about them. He always wanted to call every single match right down the middle, no matter if it was huge stars or total unknown ones. He never made difference and that is why he was so loved and respected by them all.

Gordon Sollie, Jim Ross, & Tony Schivonne are the best broadcasters in Wrestling history and always will be. I grew up on Gordon, JR, Tony, Bob Caudle, & David Crockett and that was definitely the golden Era of professional wrestling having all these great personalities together. I want to know why Tommy Young isn't in the hall of fame as he is the greatest referee to ever grace the squared circle.
