    this is the match that made me realize that Ryan is as good as he says he is. he took a double gold world champ, and did whatever he wanted to do for 20 minutes. and then submitted him with one of the most textbook RNC ive ever seen. absolutely mind-blowing.

    People underestimate how draining it is to be in bottom position for a long time It heats you up and you gas out so quickly, if done for a really long time and when the guy on top lays his chest on your head it’s literally torture

    @@ericklumper3591 scary as in his skills and ability meaning how good he is do you know how bad a submission hurts I mean it's not fun to get choked either or smashed with extreme pressure rough sport scary in that Gordon can physically manipulate this dudes body and completely man handle, smash, control, and dominate him with such technical skill rendering him helpless unable to do anything about it that's scary to think someone can control your body like that and smash you then subdue with submission you can't do anything about it

    Pedro has an insane amount of conditioning to be able to withstand that hot and suffocating body weight of Gordon. He still was very composed throughout. Definitely an elite level grappler and a perfect match for Gordon Ryan.

    Great fighters ! Pedro looks like a rugby player ( big quads muscle !) ...with great BBJ techniques, but Gordon's skills are fenomenal ( very calm during his fights) ...is like an eagle ( fast, powerful and agile when is required )...keeps his stamina at a very high level during his matches! Fantastic ...congrats to both of them!

    The patience and confidence on every single move hi's meticulating pressure and his calculated moves are so overwhelming to most his opponent's most quit on themselves way before the match and the few who don't get manhandled and dragged around the mat 💪💯

    those competitors vs Gordon can't be different weight classes. @ this level it matters. Also funny how its normal that those competitors are gaining up weight for a fight in sport when you beardly hold to the weight due to the type of exercise it gives you ;).

    He wasnt playing with him, it was all part of the plan to wear him out and his explosiveness and so he could rear naked him the last few minutes. Gordon doesnt mess around, make no mistake, hes there to tap you out.

    ademas Barreto It’s really not. Most schools are absolutely pussified s any sort of physicality or inflicting pain and mysery like catch wrestling is frowned upon. I guess gbTs why anyone can do jj. Even the elderly. People with no athletic ability at all. Literally anyone can do it. It’s the complete opposite of any other combat sport or grappling art.

    The absolute scary thing, is that Gordon could have finished him at any point during those 15-20 mins where he was dominating position. So many times he just gives up an advantage or position because it's not how HE wants to finish it lmfao He's actually even better than he's showcasing. He could easily finish these guys inside 10 mins. Scary stuff.

    As an ex boxer, i love mma, my son told me about Gordon Ryan. The man has something about him. Seriously good. What an art this sport is. Do you guys do much road work for the gas tank? Or long intense mat sessions. This looks so tiring carry someones weight, lactic acid must figure sometime? Elegant silent assassins!

    I typically roll four, six minute matches after drilling and instruction. Six days a week. I’d be dead if Ryan was smothering me like that. He’s blocking the guy from being able to breathe any fresh air while crushing you with weight. Props to that guy for lasting that long.

    you do know the immedaite moment the mount was there it's not really hard to imagine a 220 lbs man crushing a man's skull to oblivion. Dragging someone to the ground is always a useful skillset to have. The smothering part is Gord just having fun

    It's not so much the weight difference but the height, if GR wasn't able to just lean on PMs neck the whole first couple minutes with no real counter...Yeah it's only a few pounds on the scale but leverage is a monster. Way more than just 220lbs of force trying to drag you down

    It is the evolution of the sport, Brazilian jiu-jitsu in the past added keys and submissions from Catch wrestling, which in Brazil is called wrestling, became unbeatable on the ground with the combination and now unbeatable jiu-jitsu is called American jiu-jitsu.

    What is it that allows Mr. Ryan to be so dominant? What does he understand about grappling that others have yet to catch on to? He has seemingly 'cracked the code.' Is it on a subconscious level, or does he 'see the matrix?' He is certainly a big, strong dude, but that cannot be the reason for his success. What does he see that nobody else seems to not see?

    ​@@gregorsamsa1364 Well, that's just not true. You can watch any other competitor teach its not detailed at all compared to what Gordon teaches. I don't know how familiar you are with his instructionals but they make what I am saying apparent. Every scenario is considered and there is just more. I really can't be more specific than this without going into actual technique. His replies questions are noticably more thorogh uthan what any other high level competitor has given on the same topic. Or to put it simply; He knows more information.

    I think a good way to escape the smother choke is to trap the arm with a tricep grip from the bottom, and also trap the leg and bridge in a upa.

    @@lysskamitz Personally, its my go-to escape for the kind of moves. Either against ezekiels, double underhooks, smother choke or anything where i cant get my arms to the hips of the opponent.

    Wow that was impressive and this is well I guess maybe 4th folgraplling match I seen I seen Jon Jones Tap Dan Henderson I could be wrong but Jon won and it was after he moved up so I forget he what is weight was fighting but well over 205 And I was curious to see just how serious he is about moving to Heavy weight and I thought well he pretty serious I mean he training and competing . So this is the guy huh, I didn't know Ryan was a legend in this sport but I guess he trains with or under the John Dahner system hmm well I can kind of see the trickery it's pretty impressive and unforgiving and to be singing wow that's pretty amazing . Subtle but alot of technical high level stuff being demostrasted
