*Recipe* 4 large eggs 1 1/2 cups whole milk 1/2 tsp. salt 1 1/4 cups flour 4 tbsp. vegetable oil (butter, lard or beef drippings) Combine eggs, milk, flour and salt. Blend until well combined and pace in the refrigerator, allowing to rest 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 425°F. Put 1 teaspoon of the oil (or beef drippings) into each section of a 12-hole Yorkshire pudding tray or muffin tray and put into the oven on the top shelf until very hot, almost smoking. As soon as you take the tray from the oven, pour in the batter to three-quarters fill the tins (it should sizzle) and immediately put back into the oven. Bake until the Yorkshire puddings are well risen, golden brown and crisp, 15 to 20 minutes. Don't open the oven door until the end or they might collapse.

I've heard that before, but they usually come out flat and stodgy if I do it like that. Also, he seemed to use a lot more milk than eggs. I made some last week using 200mg flour, 250ml milk, 4 eggs, a pinch of salt and baked using sunflower oil preheated at 200c. They came out just like they did in this video.

As an American with a fondness for British T.V., I always wondered what these were and when I would see them on tv and think they reminded me of dinner rolls. When I see them made, it reminds me of what my grandmother used to make. She called them “popovers” and they are made in a very similar way with the hot oil. I think she used eggs for those as well but maybe less of them, they tended come out more bread like and these look more custard like. We used to serve popovers with Sunday dinner.

I was posted in London twice, over 3 years each time and it became obvious that the brits are passionate about two things: Food and hospitality. To this day, I miss their roast and yorkshire. The yanks tend to eat meat with potatoes, but man a good roast with yorkshire and some sherry is so hard to beat. I also found "tea time" to be incredibly hard to explain, yet so effective. Kind of a winding down time in the middle of the day. Odd people, but a lot of what they do works. Sadly, they seem to be losing a lot of their traditions. You really won't find nicer people.

Oh wow, I don't think I've ever seen a video of Gordon Ramsay with his kids. It's a whole other side of him I never knew existed but I like it. It made me smile 😊 Smartass, cursing and hollering Ramsay is pretty awesome in my book but I really like this version as well.

My mom who just passed away not long ago, would make these every Christmas. This year i will make them in her honor. Im glad i asked her before she died where she got the recipe. Even though she has made them for as long as i can remember and im sure her mom taught her....when i asked her last year she said Gordons were the best..lol
