I love these two, this is what I picture true friendship, taking shot, talking smack, fire everywhere, but still civil. I would pay and even book a flight if the two of you decide to have a tour together, roasting someone, or doing shenanigans together.

He always said he's a lot more impatient with them because they should already know how to cook so he's always pissed off when they give him food that's not cooked properly. In Hell's Kitchen is also always more patient with young chefs even teaching them stuff on the spot during service...a lot less with experienced chefs though. But whenever you see him with home cooks, he's always a lot more relaxed.

You’ve got the wrong impression of Gordon. He loves joking around and talking shit with other chefs. This is fun to him and he seemed to become aware of Uncle Roger pretty quickly, I’m sure because of fans, and acknowledged him early on. Unlike Jamie Olive Oil who seems determined to ignore him lol

I've known a few people who have worked for/with Gordon Ramsay (in his restaurants or other cooking capacity) and every single one of them said he was a fantastic boss and loved working for him. If you're serious about what you do, show potential and a desire to learn and improve, he's your man.

@@Midorikonokami I’m white and an American and I definitely prefer the right amount of rose water in Middle Eastern cooking! It is my go-to food, partly because I’m lactose intolerant and there are lots of delicious dishes I can eat. Uncle Roger’s right amount, though: I can’t. I tried it with the garlic and it definitely disagreed with me. Spicy, you can forget it. I have an endoscopy lined up as it is. There’s a giant difference between not learning to enjoy things and not being able to eat them.

Hold the belly opening closed, pierce the toothpick all the way through at the top corner of the opening, then lift and pierce through the belly from underneath through the top, and make sure the toothpick stays on the fish horizontally. Repeat two or three times to close the belly completely to keep the filling from spilling into your pan during cooking. Or you can use butcher's twine to sew the opening. Butcher's twine, or cooking twine or kitchen twine is safe to use on food and has high heat resistance and you can find it in supermarkets or kitchen stores, or butcher specialty stores.

I love the banter between these two, you can tell Gordon is in on the joke and isn't above roasting himself when his improvisations don't work out. You can tell, at the very least, that Gordon isn't a hypocrite, considering how much of his career was built by Kitchen Nightmares and Hell's Kitchen, which both ultimately boil down to roasting other people's cooking.

When I was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, one of our Japanese colleagues took me to an local restaurant that served something very similar. 30 years later it remains one of the best meals I have ever had.

I was stationed at Yokota AB back in the mid 90's. I still think about some of the great food I had there. Even the fast food off base seemed higher quality than what we have in the states.

@@Starlesslight In early-1990s Okinawa the McDonalds cooked their fries in a mix of lard & beef tallow. When we got back to US kids were 'Why are the fries so yucky here?'
