Gotta be careful when them lilpo batteries start to swell. They can and will start a fire. My advice is to make sure you store them in an old ammo storage box.

Once Li-on batteries swell, they're toast.

You can't leave a lipo battery fully charge for any length of time or it will cause it to swell. Should be stored at 40 to 50% charge.

when the batterie's are wearing out .they swell . on rc helicopters thats a sign they are getting weak . so new battery instead of a new go pro . yeah running the battery all the way down will kill it quickly.

Same thing was happening to me like once a week. I would charge it the night before go to use it the next morning and it would not turn on. Had to pull the battery wait a minute or two and put the battery back in and it would usually reset..

I have been tying to figure out what is wrong with my Hero 8. I have the same issue. I actually have 2 hero 8's. One is real old and the rear glass is cracked and the case is all banged up. I have it attached to and RC car and have ran it into walls at 30 mph and it just keeps working. Always turns on. You just cant break it. I have a much newer Hero 8 and it has had problems form day one. I contacted GoPro Support and they were no help at all. If I let the newer hero 8 sit for several days it will magically turn on but only once because if I shut it off I have to wait a week or so just to use it, Quite frustrating. Thanks for all the great advice. Something to note is that GoPro rep said to only use GoPro batteries. After market batteries will cause problems.

I have the Gopro 6 black. One of my batteries swelled. I was thinking of getting the 9 because it now has a front video display.

It’s possible the little main board has a charging circuit where capacitors need to fully discharge without the battery installed. Or if it has a back up battery on the board. Same deal. Needs to completely drain. Work with mobile hand held devices. We call it locking up. Just my 2 cents

That seem logical.

I bought a DJI Osmo Pocket and I just haven’t got it down right yet. I’ll start out good on it and then something with the gimbal messes up. I just need more time playing with it or something.

Would love an update on your iPhone if you're still using that...

Will you consider the Go Pro 9 or would you consider making the Osmo pocket your everyday camera?

Personally my 9 has never had any issues with powering up like the 8. The 9 is a bit larger than the 8 but at least it's reliable.

Hi Marco well i think the batteries are defected from the factory!! Yet many people have swelling batteries in the PI in also their mobile phones contact the company who makes the battery!!??

Best not charge 100% and drain 100% 80/20 is often recommended. I try to do my phone at 40/60 when just at home and dont need a long charge

i have two black 7's and and one black 5.. the batterys do swell. fix with 120 grit sand paper. then some 400 grit. helps some.

These cameras can not really handle 4k 60fps prolonged recording in a hot climate. I think 2.7k at highest bitrate is the sweet spot even if you upscale it to 4k for better youtube compression no one could tell its not native 4k.

I would actually rather purchase old, used iPhones with 4K60fps cameras than buy Go Pros. #1 You can transfer their footage via airdrop from phone to phone #2 The software is way better - including apps for augmented reality recording. #3 IOS is just so much easier and reliable. My Youtubbing camera is a XS Max 512GB till I can upgrade to iPhone 12 1TB.

These dam cameras, got one here just messing up and won't gimmie what the hell I paid for .Well I been using mah phone now for days cant take the heartaches 🙂

Buy a Hero 7. They are cheap now.

swell usually too many overcharges...obce it swell do not use it blow soon..cellphone batts do same thing..china quality...
