This video goes over how to tear down a GoPro Hero 8 Black, without destroying the housing, for the purpose of creating a "naked" Hero 8.

Best way I found to heat it up is to leave to gopro turned on and recording for a few minutes, I was able to open it up without a heat gun.

I have to describe the orientation first. The face, is looking at the lens (Wide). The Right side is Power button. I would like to rotate the camera to point out the power button side and re-mount everything in a redesigned 3dprinted case. Sadly, the ribbon cable for the camera sensor doesn't look long enough to rotate 90°

After I made the mistake, I did go back and remove the glass with heat and a pry tool. Took less than 30-seconds. Exposed the screw holes perfectly.

You were able to remove that front gopro housing like a boss. Good video, thanks for showing that it is possible to hit this thing hard with the heat gun and basically cut through that soft glue with a metal tool. I made a mess when I did mine... I was scared to hit the gopro housing with the heat gun too hard, and I think that's probably the biggest hang-up. People don't want to hit the gopro too hard with heat, and they're scared to use a metal tool behind there because they don't want to slip and cut the ribbon cable.

I definitely understand that. If I didn't use that heat gun and those tools daily during other electronic repairs, I'd be cautious too.

Go pro 8 died to easy, 2 th one died also. Not even 1 yr in both. Only thing I like on it is the steady stabilizer. Not sure if I should get another.
