Thank for the review man! This is very useful. I have decided to buy the SJCAM. Doesn't break the bank and quality is good.

the sj has better color grading but it does take a bit to adjust to the light and dark whereas the gopro is more fluent. the video quality at 1080 is nearly the same so but gopro has real 4k and sj is interpolated. The sj has better stabilization with the gyro but gopro is full waterproof out of the box with 3 mics and its own editing software. whereas sj still relies on the waterproof casing and uses the external Mic. both are good cameras. what it comes down to is price and what you plan to do with the camera. if you want those epic slow motion, action footage and time lapse then gopro. but if you want an over all camera. where u can vlog. do decent action and slow motion, time lapse and great underwater and low light videos then SJCAM.

being honest I'd rather the camera be in a water proof case because it'll stay clean and free of scratches. Good if you want to resell it. Plus if you drop it forget it you're going to break it.

Great comparison. I just received the SJCAM and I'm really impressed. There is not enough of a difference to get a GoPro; the SJ6 seems to perform almost as well.

I have both cameras - I am happy with the SJCam and I absolutely hate the GoPro - IMHO it's overpriced crap. After three months the rear LED has stopped working. My SJCam has had a much harder life (almost 5 months with it), I smashed the back LED but it still works!!!! For the extra money a GoPro costs, I'll take 2 SJCam's!

@@shaaz486 Do you have the external SJ Cam Mic. It needs to be placed in the cheek pad of your helmet and you need some furry material to act as a dead cat to also lower wind noise. Then you just have to move the mic around in your helmet until you find the best place.

What settings do you have enabled on sj cam. I have the same camera but it makes everything seem dark for some reason. (You can see it in my KZread vids)

I just acquired the SJ6 Legend (159.00 US). I was immediately blown away by the picture quality (16 megs). Can't say enough good things about it. The audio was lacking but I don't know if it was due to the audio pickup or the signal processing being clipped. Digital audio on cheap recording devices typically are much higher quality than was demonstrated here on either camera, so I tend to believe this can be improved with better microphones and analog signals prior to conversion. Hero's audio was only marginally better as shown here and not close to good enough IMO. I bought an Aputure shotgun cartiod V-mic-D1 mike w hot shoe adapter plus 1/4" threaded hole; it came with a Dead Cat wind cover (69.00). The jack is a male 1/8" stereo phone jack. I ordered a 1/8 female to mini-usb cable (2.78). I'll post results after it comes in. Probably should have purchased the Aputure v-mic-D2 for the added features, still, i am in for 200 dollars less right now w a better rig, if it works.

thanks for extensive comparison I bought sj6 legend after this review . I'm never gonna mount on a bike so won't be much of a fuss about the noise cancellation. this video wud be complete only with underwater tests which is why majorly someone like me would buy an action cam ....excellent job though 🖒

Sjcam have to really look into the wind cancelation part. Many motovloggers who start off are using the Sjcam and this is a major issue. I thought it would have been changed by now at least as the complaints have been there since the sj4000.

Hello, does anybody know: 1) which is the latest stable firmware version for SJ6 Legend? I am running on 1.4.9, which works well 2) where to get the latest stable version from All I end up to is shady sites, from where I would not download anything. The official SJ site does not offer Firmware files in the support page anymore. Please advise.

I saw ur video for the first time and i liked it, ur comparision was very useful, i could easily make out which is best among 2, dono mai zamin aasman la farak hai, ya sj6 legend is good to buy for budget camera, gopro kigna mehenga hai 35 k , but when u were riding bike nose of wind was more as compared to go pro, gopro mai clean voice tha, and that's what confused me,mi kya buy karu legend / gopro, bahut bada différence tha voice la, can that wind noise be lowered sahi mai ???

+Rockstar 007 Thank you, my recommendation GoPro but if you want voice in your videos then Go for SJ6 Legend with microphone you can mount it in helmet. For GoPro you need a mic adapter

What a fantastic video and well done for that. I am an SJ4000 man at the moment and was thinking of upgrading. I think the SJ 6 Legend is far better video quality than the very overrated Go-pro's. I have used my SJ400 for many videos and stills and always to this very day it has been a really good well made camera and I will stick to an SJ Cam, I just think they are fantastic for the price. Well done anyway on such a brilliant video.

+Ivan “Ive” Richards thank you, both the cameras where mounted on a steel plate custom made. But both the cameras were is their respective bumper cases that came with them. Standard cases. In SJ bumper case it have ample spacing for microphone vents. GoPro sounds better since it has 3 MIC's and wind noice cancellation turned on
