in older versions of the game you could put the decoys anywhere but now the game won't let you put them outside a "feed zone" ... which means an agricultural field ... wheat corn or straw fields ... geese are my favorite waterfowl to hunt cause they come in more frequently ... not to long to wait

Thanks I have always struggle to keep having geese come in. I have had problems with them spooking before they get within like 80 yards. But I've still managed to get two rare geese and they look pretty cool. There is a lot of rare goose types and all of them look really cool if you ask me so keep an eye out.

For goose hunting since I don’t have the duck and cover dlc and I don’t like to use the streckers so I use the cacciatore 12 gauge loaded with birdshot it works rlly well it’s a pump and it holds 6 shells

For console you don’t have to go up on dpad u can just press the left dpad and it changes

If you press left or right on the d-pad you can also rotate through items without opening the wheel on console

I'm about 3 years late, but upon returning to the spot I used to use I realise it wasn't set up very well so I'll be sure to try these out! Great tip about bringing two Nordins, I always have one and the .22lr for follow-up shots but never considered bringing two of the same gun... actually super obvious now you pointed it out but for whatever reason it never clicked for me lol. Good reason to make use of all these multiple variants the same weapon!

In Oklahoma, they require plugs in our waterfowl guns to prevent more than 3 anyway so if you’re playing realistic, this makes sense

this worked well. I was level 18 now im 29. Made at least 300k$. It is so easy. I would just suggest not to put the blind so close to the decoys because they never land all together at the same time. So if you put the blind a bit back it helps not spook that first goose which alerts the flock. Also putting the decoys in the center of the field away from trees. Bigger the feild the better, so easy to round up the geese when they never get past the outskirts of the corn field. When I was able to get the 12ga 6 round shotgun, I loved it. It felt quicker then switching between the 2 guns. And if you press the wrong button by mistake like I did 100 times, you can lose some geese. Love the video helped me so much.

You can put the decoys all around your blind, makes it better bcuz they are closer

I wanna add something to the tips here : the goose ground blind in this game sucks because you have limited angle of view, you can't look down well enough to shoot the goose when they land. So i think the best places to set up the hunt is a meadow that looks like a pan, you can put your blind on the lowest spot and decoys on the higher point. That way, you can have better angle to choose your preys

Waterfowl are my favorite thing to hunt when big game gets boring Also the ten gauge is better for geese

They really need to add them on the ground. That's realistic... Been duck and goose hunting for over 20 years. Also some snow geese would be a great addition. Maybe next map should be in Arkansas 😁. Duck capital

On console all you have to press is left or right a single time to go to the next or previous weapon. I've found that the waterfowl blind or even a tripod works much better than the lay flat blind. I've never had luck in the southern areas of the map. I have two really good spots in the central northern area.

On the wetlands on YV map theres over 5 different flocks flying over u at any given time

Geese are no longer broken, so this guide is helpful (again)! I've shot around 40 out of the same field. Wondering at what point (if any) hunting pressure will apply? This can't go on forever in the same spot, no?

@@manslundin4676 shotgun is better for close range and rifles are better for long. You will ultimately kill more geese by swapping the gun choice

Can you hunt geese with just the caller?

Does this work for anyone on PS4? I've tried 4 times now - around 40-70 minutes each time (real time and not game time) and I hardly ever got them flying past. I went to the locations listed in the vid above and all were void of the numbers shown in this vid, Flinter's vid and Ron McTube's vid. Is this a console thing then?

Great informative guide / video, like they should be, when they have that title ! I don't have the equipment for the Geese though. Feel like i'll get bored after a while . Are geese only on the Hirschfelden map?

This might be a stupid question but do the decoys go away if you turn off the game or go to a different reserve and comeback? (Also can you pick up decoys and redeploy them elsewhere?) I sometimes have limited time to game so I would need to set this up when I have a bunch of time to play.

Nope, if you log out then the decoys will stay where they are. And yes, if you can pick them up and move them whenever.

I encountered my first albino (Moose Lake Layton) but after shooting it twice and tracking it for over an hour (I finished both tracking achievements) it circled back on its tracks and I lost it. (Less than 10 hours of game time too.) Anyhow, going to shoot some birds and level up my skills/perks so it doesn't happen again.

Yeah usually the hunting pressure in that area builds up so they slow down, plus the new bird system might have an effect, im gonna be getting into the game again now that I’m free from work for a little so should be able to get some helpful vids out!

actually there's no fix rule. Just tried 12 gauge but only got 1. Wish me luck on the 2 X 20 gauge :P

Basically just run around and kill everything don’t focus on going for diamonds until you level up a bit. For now just shoot any animal you see so you can get the most cash and xp possible

Does the wild goose chase dlc actually make it possible to hunt the geese or is it just for the gear? On hirsch you can see the fly over even if you don't have the dlc. Can you hunt them without the dlc?
